  1. Yes he did, but people pined for him on here last year, and I would have to say he didnt have anything left to give, and nobody wanted him.So I just used his name as a example of players now that wouldnt be any good.
  2. Not much going on right now and since I like moving my mouth, I will talk frankly. With Emery(last year) and Trestman this year, we have is new blood and new hopes to hang our hat on. Although I thought Lovie was a good coach, he had way to many bad habits I didnt like. He talked down to people in interviews, had bad clock management, was to loyal to players that didnt pan out, and no offensive prespective. JA just sucked at drafting and that is what we hired him for. Emery's first draft has yet to look good, but I honestly think he was handcuffed with Lovie still in his year. He brought in BM and it came cheap, so if nobody in the draft works out, he was a winner in his first year. I still thinks it takes 3 years to give a honest review of his draft. What I like about him is he has a plan, good or bad has yet to be determined, but he does what he thinks is best. He doesnt let the McCaskey family interfere in his job, he accepts full responsibly for what he is doing. Probably the biggest thing he has done so far is not let koolaid drinking fans influence the decision to not bring Urlacher back. He sees him as old, injury prone, and not able to contribute anymore, especially at what Brian wanted to come back. He would have brought him back at his price, but Urlachers ego let it get in the way about what he is worth. I think he would have contributed as a leader of defense, but his play would not have been pretty. He choose not to work for 2 mil, and now nobody in the league is interested in him, and could sign for a minimum contract, and be somebodys backup on a good team. With Trestman we have no idea how well he will do , but if we look at his history, he will absolutely make Cutler a better QB, or he will find one he can work with. We now have a offense that could join the modern NFL and could rise to a top 10 appearance in the stats department. The defense will slide some but I think good enough to get us to the playoffs. The key to all this IMO is how well him and Culter mesh into the new offense. Secondly the OL needs to be better, and I think it will at least move to the top 15 to 20 OLs in the league and would be volumes better. Conclusion: I think this all works and we will be a playoff team this year, even though with a new coach, the odds are against that. Also I think the LBs they picked up play well, and SCM has more of an impact this year.I still think he adds someone on the OL, a speed WR appears, and we all have something to root for. Take in consideration I am a optimist, and live that more comfortably than being negative about everything that happens in the Bears present and future. I may have to one day accept this all didnt work out, but I dont need to do it today.
  3. Something interesting concerning Ogletree. I just read that he was suspended the first 4 games of 2012, which means his stats were all done in 8 games. I have moved from Brown/lb to routing for Olgetree, he was a stud. I liked Brown because he is consider a natural born leader, which I thought we needed, but Olgetree is too good to pass up, if we get the chance.
  4. here is the problem with signing Russel, that means we wasted our time on someone that wont amount to anything, instead of finding someone that might have some value. Vick and Burress actually had good years that would give them more value on taking a shot with them. I think maybe you should start a carnival and have TO, Russel, ect and travel around and show off there big egos, because the NFL is not the place to take lousy risks.
  5. I would like them to concentrate on offense, but no matter what scheme you run, we need more LBs on the team. Briggs is only going to have a few years left, and even if the new guys work out, there not young. We have to draft a LB in our draft this year to bring youth to the position.
  6. the only two early round picks on the private workout list are Ogletree and Brown. Thats interesting, who they might want more.
  7. Is Arthur Brown the only one so far that has been reported to have a pre draft visit? I cant remember seeing any other names posted. Anybody have anybody else?
  8. Thats a good comment, maybe he could win some biggest losers competition, but is to far removed from the NFL to be consider a thought.
  9. the only WR I see us taking in round 1 would be Austin
  10. I think there are better choices, but if he is there in the second round and the bears chose him, I would have to assume they did there homework on him and made a rational choice.

  12. Preseason doesnt really mean anything, but gives us a taste of things to come. The 3rd week will be a tell but not a very good team to measure against.
  13. Good job, and I would have to say it will be Trufant, or Ogletree by your research. I also think your 2nd list will have one fall from that group. That could be the pick.
  14. If we look back at the origin thread, everybody was sad to seem him go but kinda didnt get behind the bring him back scenario that you and Alaska pushed., but its all subjective. I guess the decision of not bringing him back, is backed up by everything that has happened since that day. Nothing. done deal

    Tyson Clabo cut

The probability of Clarbo coming here would depend on the money he would play for.
  16. They wanted him back only for there price, why would they negotiate against themselves? No one else wanted him, so why pay him what he thinks he is worth. The market tells you what his valve is, not him or the Bears. Come to find out, they made him a fair offer for what the league valves him as. He wanted 5.5, and would have settled for 3.5, well if he plays that will be for the league minimum. THATS HIS VALVE
  17. So I would have to say 2 votes would have been to bring Urlacher back and 5 would not. I am just trying to show Jason that if we we smarter than GMs, that the same decision that the NFL is making right now, is the same one that we would have made.. Not sign him is what we would have chosen to do. Since the Bears made the choice, and no other team is chasing him, that bringing him back was not a good idea.
  18. I think that sounds like a bad idea. Anyone for talking about bringing TO in as a WR? There is a lot of bad ideas out there, we dont need add another one.
  19. Since this is all a dream, how about Aaron Rodgers several years ago.
  20. I do think we need to add to our CBs, with all the passing teams in the league, it can only help. What is cool , is we are in the position to take an impact player, which can be at many different positions.
  21. He talked about Austin which not be considered a possession WR. I think we still have questions on our OL which may or may not work out, so I would have to take Warmack or Cooper if they are there, otherwise Austin would be a instant upgrade to our passing game.
  22. The point I was trying to make is, since our boards members are smarter than GMs I wanted to get a consensus of what that actually decision would have been, since Urlacher story resurfaces this week. If you dont wish to participate, just dont answer. Since a lot of things were said, I just wanted to get a actually total on what we as a board would have did.
  23. Your right, but if he retires because nobody wanted him I would have to say the right decision on not wanting him holds true. Or if someone signs him and he ends up being hurt same difference. The reasons why people didnt want him hold true. To make the statement( he will play well this year is a mute point) if he doesnt play, but it wil still go back to if it was the right decision to not sign him, which SO FAR looks like the right choice for anybody to make. So Im not sure IF HE PLAYED, you would have been right even matters.
