  1. Since things have become clearer with the Bears tagging Melton. Whats next? We restructure contracts for players that will be here for a while. Marshall, extended three years, Jennings extended 3 years, Gould extended 2 years. Bennett extended 2 years. We resign Idonije for one year, Collins for 2 years, D.J. Moore for one, Melton for a 5 year 39 mil deal, 6 mil against cap this year. we cut Davis, Hester, Spaeth, Toenia. We sign in FAgency Brad Jones/MLB, Daryrl Smith/OLB, (worked with Tucker in Jac) King Dunlop/LT (a better LT than Webb)read the stats (to whom it may concern),Chase Daniels/QB (ties to Kroner) We trade down with AZ to get #38,69, and a 6th rounder. Our draft #38- Larry Warford/OG (a starter from day one at LG) #50- Markus Wheaton/WR (our speed guy) #69- Travis Kelce/TE 4 th - Brian Schwenke/ C/ California (need to start thinking about replacing Garza) 5th- Tyrann Mathieu/CB (takes Hesters spot on Returns) 6th- A J Francis/DT/Mar (replaces Toenia in rotation 6th- Kyle Juszcyk/FB/Harv (will need a FB in our new scheme) Note: this is what I would like to happen, not I think will happen. Rodrigez and Kelce become our TEs Our OLine- Dunlap, Warford,Garza,Carmi, Webb Wheaton becomes our 3rd WR Mathieu becomes our KR,and PR and we end up cutting Weems Daniels and Blachard are our backup QBs
  2. Your right, he does it more eloquently than you do, it is well written.I agree with his points, other than I think it is possible(not probably) to get a LT in FAgency that doesnt break the bank.
  3. We dont have like minds, but you are right on with what our first pick should be.
  4. I read that, it would be interesting if we took a DB with our first pick. I would think a player in a more pressing need would be available

    Jake Long

Anybody they go after will mean they will check out there health fully. Alberts has back problems that caused him to miss 3 games last year, but that doesnt sound like a chronic situation, and they will check that out. Long will get a big contract, but has several health issues, so more of a risk. Nobody is perfect in FAgency so we will let them do there job and see what happens.
  6. Totally agree, accepting Webb will improve dramatically is a big question mark. I think we have several question marks with Louis being healthy, Carmi taking a giant step forward after a terrible season. Also can Garza still play good enough as he is getting older. We all have opinions on this blog, many different looks at our problems, but the interesting thing is what do the new coaching staff think of all the incumbents we had play last year. I think if they want to get a LT in free agency they will find the money to do that, then that means they did not think much of Webb development. Maybe they see him at RT, if they bring back Scott, I read where they want him as the swing tackle. So the chances of getting a LT in the draft is slim, so I think what they do in FAgency will tell us everything. If they make an offer to a OT and fail to get him, it still tells us what they think of Webb and might have to settle for him due to money. If we go after a G in FAgency then that means they can live with Webb and will draft the BPA in the draft. If they draft Fluker, then he is our RT and Carmi is destined to play RG. If we resign Louis, means they think he will be healthy enough to play, and maybe Carmi moves to LG. A lot of different scenarios exist. It all starts in 9 days and everything will clear up.
  7. My whole problem with Webb stems from the last three years, we are waiting for him to be good, he went from horrible to terrible to not so terrible. A player needs to step up, not keep hoping he does. Now he was not good because of the LG situation. Maybe we settle for Webb to be better, but I want to shoot for more than that. How long do we give to players to prove themselfs? Our line was better last year, we went from 32nd to 30th, thats my point! We need to be better and if we keep pitching for OUR guys to be better, so what we move up to the 24th best line in the league? It aint good enough. Look we may have to settle for Webb, from a monetary point of view. I would rather have a new body to work with, a lousy Bushrod, or a small uprade to Alberts. I want us to bring in at least 2 new bodys to compete, and preferable the the L G and T. Is that to much to ask for? If you were the GM, you would keep Webb and that would be a shame. I think Webbs problem is in his head, he just aint got it. HE should have made a GIANT step forward last year, and he just didnt.
  8. Screw all those stats you keep throwing out here. Alberts is a better player than Webb, the eye test does wonders to seeing who is a good player or who isnt. We get you think Webb is above average, but he just isnt. I wish you would find someone elses wagon to climb on.
  9. It is apparent they want to keep him and gives them time to do a cap friendly contract. They seem to be moving slowly with the roster , due to evaluation? Havent figured what there up to. They will be resigning some of our own and cutting a few players, just cant figure why there waiting to cut the slack. Are we looking at a roster similar to last year? With Roach, Idonije, maybe Urlacher coming back? God I hope not, we have a fresh start with a New coach and Emery and need to purge forward and get our offense in the modern version of the NFL. the only new players will be draft picks, so that means a OL, TE, and LB added to the mix that might make a difference. Hopefully last years draft class, McClellin, Evan, Hardin, UDFA Brown take a step forward and contribute.
  10. 6 mil is another OL in FAgency, we just have to evaluate if it is worth it. If we let him play out his contract, we aint having much money to spend in the next few years.
  11. Brown was just a guy, some turn out, some dont. It still remains to be seen if he contributes. We have new minds to formulate a new plan, and will have to see how it works.
  12. Whos going to take on a 16 mil cap hit? Odds are slim to none at his age.
  13. I was trying to add a little humor to this broken record , that is our OL fix.
  14. If we sign Melton, we dont have a budget anymore, he eats it all. Unless he takes 5 to 6, I dont see us getting him back. Webb was ranked 35th and Bushrod 45th, I want to pass on both, wheres King Dunlap?
  15. He improved from being horrible, so that means he going to be great. If we get a LG, yes he will be better, but I am looking for an upgrade to top 15 type of LT, not 23rd. I cant wait for the powers that be get him out of that spot, so next year you can write how if Webb was our starting LT, how much better we would have been.
  16. He was awful for two years, and then (not horrible) having the 26th rated LT isnt anything to rave about.
  17. he wont be playing guard, he is a right tackle.
  18. Yes I didnt pay attention, so I guess were even, Fluker is a RT not RG. We screw up.

    Backup QB

Do you and Webb hang out together?
  20. All these rumors are based on what writers think our needs are and all of a sudden they state a connect. There is a chance he will be back, but that dont take a lot of brain power to figure out, we may need to resign him.
  21. I didnt say it was a bad idea, just that they aint going to do it. We dont have a lot of cap money, short on draft picks and were going to draft a WR in an area of a some what stength? Marshall, Jefferys, Bennett. It aint going to happen. I think we need one in a big way and he will be a star, but there will be someone on the board with taking that fills a need. If you have a family of 4 and your looking for a new car, you dont go buy a roadster because it is a cooler car.
  22. Your right, with all the questions regarding Webb then with a new staff coming in, time to take the next step and instead he does stupid stuff.(not the pot but getting caught) If he trains in Texas dont you think you would just by some pot when you got home? Nope , lets smoke some pot. A lack of sense, which doesnt bold well for making an impression.
  23. No way Johnson is there at 20 and with OL, TE, and MLB,if we dont resign Melton DT,WE ARE NOT TAKING A WR.
