  1. If you grab a guard in Fagency what if Lane is not there when you draft? You next option at LT will be a big dropoff and probably not start. then where are you at? I think with the money it will cost you for Levitre you can get your LT in FAgency and have better interior options in the 1st round. Cooper, Jones,Warford in the second, maybe Long? I would take those TEs you named but after signing a LT and Melton your money will drop off quit a bite.
  2. I like the idea of Reddick over the speed of Olgetree, and might be gotten with our 2nd round pick. Leaving us to grab a OL in the first.
  3. Your right the top 3 LTs will be gone. thats why I like the idea of Beatty, much better than Webb. Resign Scott, and let Webb be the swing tackle. Draft Cooper OG, he is the 2nd rated guard and worthy of a first round pick. He would start from day one. Hopefully Louis is healthy so you bring him back. You have Carmi compete with him or Scott and let the best man win. You draft a David Quissenberry in the 4th that can play C or OG. Groom him for Garzas job in the future. Brown can compete with Louis in the next few years if he takes a step forward. Beatty-Cooper- Garza-Louis-Scott. You have Brown-Webb-Quissenberry- Carmi as backups. Let the best men win.
  4. Bennett - Jones tie? are you insane, Jones had 14 TDs this year.
  5. Top Athlete: Alec Ogletree – Georgia – 6’3/232 The former safety has been receiving criticism from my end for a long time. Each time I watch the talented but underachieving Bulldogs defense on tape, Ogletree jumps out at me in two ways. One good, one bad. Top end speed, agility, and reaction. Closes a 5-10 yard window quicker than anyone in this class. An easy, fluid mover in coverage with fast-twitch hips. Physical tackler that knows how to finish a play when he has his weight under him. Struggles mightily against oncoming blockers. Minimal physical presence. Gets locked on to with ease and cannot free himself. A liability against the inside rushing game. The decision makers will fall in love with Ogletree’s top tier speed and quickness they see on film. As much as I think he can’t handle the inside game at the next level, I’m confident some coach will be assured he can work with him. He can be a top 15 guy. He won’t be near there on my board, but in a speed game, I can understand the infatuation. Top Versatility: Kevin Reddick – North Carolina – 6’2/246 Watching Reddick on tape is a chore. He is all over the field. He does everything from controlling the inside running lanes to putting his hand in the dirt outside the tackle on passing downs. He can do it all at a high level. Quick and savvy. Moves towards the action right away, rarely fooled. Can dance around blocks to miss contact as well as take linemen head on to plug the hole. Creates a nice impact upon engagement. The best blitzing linebacker in this class, whether from the inside or out. Agile hips and feet. Does not bring that athleticism when he drops in to coverage. Tries to read the quarterback too often, loses track of the receivers around him. Will overpursue at times, creating massive cutback lanes. A big no-no inside. Teams love to bring in rookies that can fill multiple roles. Reddick is an inside linebacker but will have no issues playing outside. He is a huge mismatch for backs to block when he blitzes. He can be too strong for some, and too quick for others. Reddick is a guy always around the ball that will go higher in the draft that many think. He does too many things very well. Top Physical Presence: Kevin Minter – LSU – 6’1/245 LSU is always stacked with defensive talent. However this year a lot of their prospects are based on upside that need time to physically develop. Minter, however, stands out on tape with his NFL-ready body and power with surprising quicks and pursuit ability. Big time presence against blockers and ball carriers. Often the guy that send the joly to an opponent. Creates tremendous power from his lower half. Stays low and balanced. Has more lateral range than you initially think. Stable athlete that can play strong inside and out. Can retreat in to deep coverage fast. Not the most instinctive linebacker. Fooled by counters, playaction. Takes a lot of false steps, playing a lot of recovery football. May not be a three down linebacker. Minter will be sought after by teams looking to beef up with run defense. He will have no issues making an impact there right away. He can take on, and get rid of blocks. He can finish a play. He can play fast enough to defend the outside game as well. However with the NFL becoming such a passing league, that impact against the run may not be as important as it was 5-6 years ago. Top Instincts/Football IQ: Manti Te’o – Notre Dame – 6’2/255 The love for Te’o got a little out of hand by the media, and therefore public opinion, during the 2012 season. At no point was he a top 10 prospect, let alone top 5. His story has been well documented but I am keeping my evaluation based off of game tape. Consistently moving in the right direction as the ball is being snapped. Gets himself and others in to position. Had a lot of control of a very good Notre Dame defense. Great tackler that uses the combination of power and form. Strong hands that can get rid of blockers. Improved his range and ability to swivel his hips in coverage. Explosive in a five yard window. Still lacks the speed you want out of a three down linebacker. Heavy feet. Won’t reach the sidelines fast enough. Te’o is going to be a good linebacker at the next level. Physically, he does well enough. Mentally, he is very intelligent and diagnoses with the best of them. The problem, however, is he will be learning a new scheme with new players against faster competition. That mental advantage may not be there right away. Put that on top of his lack of top tier speed and quickness could force his grade down a significant amount. WHO DO YOU WANT AND WHAT ROUND DOES HE FIT IN.
  6. I didnt see it reported anywhere else other than one twitter report, I guess because I dont do twitter I didnt understand that everything reported on twitter was true. All I was doing was throwing out there a name that might be gotten at a reasonably price that could help us. Obviously I pissed you off by saying something negative about a comment . I actually did think you were the sharpest guy on here, not I understand your just like the rest of us.
  7. I guess that is the only place where that info shows up , it must be true.
  8. I agree Beatty would be much better, but Armstead would be a project 2 to 3 years down the road and Foltz would be a possible starter? He is in three different rating 10th, 13th, and 18th rated OG. In a good year the league would be lucky if the top 5 guards drafted would start the first year. I thought you were sharp, I will have to reconsider that position. You do a mock that cuts our TEs and doesnt add a new one, OL could use 2 to 3 new bodies and you give us one FA and fourth and fifth round pick as our new guys; without resigning Louis. Your right on top of everything.
  9. Actually I looked up every sports wire and cant find that information. Why would he be taking a physical in the off season with no football being played. They give you physicals when you go to OTA or camp?
  10. I agree with need youth on defense but the problem is we have a 1st and 2nd to draft 2 to 3 new OL, a TE, a speedy WR and maybe 2 new LBs .Odds of our 4th and 5th,6th picks starting the first year are pretty slim. So whether in FAgency and the first part of the draft we could use 6 starters and all wont be young guys.
  11. Just looked up his bio, he played MLB when with the Packers at 6-2 240 lbs. maybe he can still play the middle.
  12. Barnett was quite good the last two years. was going to make 3.5 at 31. Resign Roach(not terrible) and give Barnett a couple mil for a couple of years and stick him at SLB. Then draft a guy in the 4th or 5th round and grove him for Roaches job next year.
  13. I agree, Cooper should be there and worthy of that pick. If he is gone, I have no problem picking Barrett Jones in that spot either.
  14. the 69th pick would actually be a 3rd round pick
  15. Lovies gone so I doubt if the same habits will be seen. I think with Emery being new last year with the same draft team in place,I think Lovie on a lot of influence on the draft.
  16. He is a good blocker, ok receiver. If we can do better-cheaper I will be for dumping him.
  17. I hope so , I took it off a website that stated 13.3 as the cap space plus the other additions.
  18. Wheaton had over 2000 yards, 164 receptions, and 12 tds in the last 2 years where as Goodwin had 761 yards, 59 receptions, and 8 tds. I like the production.
  19. you were right, I copied it wrong, have no problem with the players you listed. Brown is rated higher than Reddick but have read that Reddick is a team leader type, have no problem with Brown thou. Also Goodwin is faster but wheaton is more of a accomplished WR.
  20. Usually in most drafts after you get past the first 10-15 players it starts to vary a lot on the players valves. I agree you have to take the BPA in most scenarios but lets say a QB or RB are the best player rated as the the 2nd best OG who has a first round grade. We dont take the QB over a need position where as the QB is the 16 best player rated as to the 24 th rated player a OG. the point he was making we have OL, TE, MLB that is of our most needed positions and they will be one of valve there as the draft falls in place. In the second round if a DT or WR is the best rated players then you have to consider it, but with 3 great needs you usually will have choices and still fill a need.
  21. I have read in several spots where Arz. likes Glennon/QB but at 7 is too high to take him. They will select Fisher/OT at that spot, but will have to trade up to get Glennon. so they have #38,4th round 67 and they have two 6th round picks. So i just used Walters mock as an example of who could be there. the trade would be our 20 for 38,67 and a 6th rounder. I am not sure how this rates on the traded picks scale, but maybe swapping our 4th round picks would be more equal. 38-Larry Warford/OG (also the top 2 TEs) 50(our pick) they had us taking Austin/WR but I would select Reddick/LB 67-Marcs Wheaton/WR-speed guy 114(our pick) Kelce/TE
  22. I mentioned that a few days ago on a differnt thread. I read we have 13.3 plus carry over of 3.2. With the players we can cut, should have around 21.5 mi. to play with.
  23. your spot on with our picks. we need to fill those spots by how the draft falls to our pick.
  24. I think Johnson will be gone, out of 50 mocks I read Brown was never a 1st round pick.
