I think he is a full of himself, but why do you say he doesnt have any sources? Being PFW, that is a decent publication, dont always agree with articles but find in a good source of info. They are tied to all teams and Nolan is not as sharp as Joel B. use to be, but has interesting info. There are many times they reported information before any one else, and that includes PFT. I am not saying it is the best source but it is talking about football, and the Bears and I find valve in that, no matter whether I agree with info or not. Sources are just contacts and they have many, to say they make stuff up, isnt a true statement. Rumors are rumors, they all have them.

If we can find other options, I am all for it, but where? Are we better off going with a young guy? Miller?
-
Pompei wrote an article in the trib stating about bringing back Harris as a rotation guy.Since we are short at the position, someone to give you 10 to 15 snaps a game, may not be a bad idea. He had 10 hurries and 3 sacks in a part time role.

I listen to the SCORE a lot and all these guys are on there, and they all have good and bad points, but I do think Biggs does a good job, he doesnt color anything and does ask the tough questions. I dont hate any of them. Zac Z. is quite the suck up.
-
I wasnt saying that he will compare to them, I was using them as an example of the rookies that actually had an impact and saying it will be hard for Jeffery to get to those type of numbers. Green had over a 1000 yards and Jones almost 900.
-
Your right we cant use TEs and RBs as comparing to WRS, but teams that throw a lot to TEs and RBs affect the effectiveness of WRs. So breaking down WRs is a incomplete comparision. Det. #1 Johnson #50 Burleson #97 Young GB #9 Nelson #25 Jennings #63 Jones #105 Driver #127 Cobb Min #21 Harvin #97Armonishado #99 Jenkins Chi #10 Marshall (was with Miami) #51Knox (injury will cause him to not see the field this year) #89 Williams (no longer with team and already forgotten) #124 Bennett ( our presently #2 WR) #129 Hester (currently our #4 WR) Jeffery ( rookie and according to PFW the 7th ranked WR prospect) # 159 Sanzi (will be cut in training camp) #261 Weems (new player) #335 Thomas (new player) If we look at this from a stats point of view, we have the 2nd worst group of WRs in the conf. Only two rookies last year had an impact A.J.Green and J. Jones, and those two were considered the best prospects to come out in several years.Green was there #1 WR in Cincy and Jones was #2 in Atlanta. So it will be hard to project how Jeffery will have any kind of impact his first year. I am a glass half full person, so going forward we have a run first type offense this year. We will get top 12 numbers from Marshall. I think Bennett is second on the team with with between 50 to 60 rec.-700 to750 and 4 TDS. I see Jeffery getting around 50 rec.-650 yards and 8 TDs. Forte and Davis, Rodreguz would have to come into play, but cant look at them. So from a WR point of view, I would say we are third in the league, if things are going good.

If we look at receiving yards last year from teams in our division #1 Johnson #10 Marshall (now a Bear) #24 Harvin #25 Jennings #45 Pettigrew(TE) #47 Finley(TE) #50 Burleson Out of the top 50 last year Detroit has more going forward. TEs have to be considered because it is part of the passing game. Also 2 of top 5 QBs last year were in our division with Rodgers and Stafford.(yards) So going forward we only have a chance of having the best WRs in the league. Probably not, unless a lot of things go right. Granted we have a RB that catches alot over those teams which puts us closer to the other groups, but are we going to throw for 5000 yards with a some what run first mentality, I doubt it.

The website is Spotrac and it lists all contract info. In his contract for 2012 his salary is 1.65 and roster bonus is 5 mil, 2013 his salary is 1.85 and roster bonus is 5 mil. So that is 13.5 with .5 in workout bonuses , and you have to pay him 14 over the next two years, no matter what incentive bonuses dont kick in. I think for a punt returner, and 4th WR that is a little rich. Marshall is going to make 20 mill over the next two years as a #1. The average of his salary over the length of the contract lists him as the 4th highest paid WR in the league. Has that been worth his ST TDS? and his WR contribution. If you go by his cap hit for this year, he is ranked 11th, so basically do the Bears find that to be a worth it valve? I think they redo his contract, with all the additions to KRers and WRers.
-
It will be a little hard to get past Pack, Jennings and Nelson are stars and Rodgers will be making Cobb a good WR this year. We have Marshall and Bennett, the rest remains to be seen.
-
I dont think it is about giving him a chance to recover , I think it takes that long and when back wont make it back. I think his football life is done and after a trial when recovered will be done with football.
-
Actually if you keep him as the third TE and keep Clutts , I can see use for both. We will be running a lot more 2 TEs sets so I am sure we keep 3 TEs.

OT: Explain your username and how you became a Bears fan

Who on here has the most posts? Without much investaging, it looks like MadL. wins that one. -
First one to drop Winston Venable, Im not sure you consider him a vet but the first to go.
-
I didnt say I wanted him gone, was looking at the possiblity of that happening. We are playing him a lot of money and at some point that will come into play. He will cost us 20 mil in the next two years, if you dont think they are looking at that, their not doing there job.
-
Is there any vets that could get dropped during training camp due to roster additions? I will throw out there that the (Devin Package) could be a ticket out of town. We added several WR prospects. We added several KR prospects. He makes a lot of money for a 4th WR and a KR specialist I think they ask him to take a pay cut and have the additions to release him or trade him. It is not that I would like this move but with his cap hit this year is 7.6 mil and 12.8 next year and 10.5 mil. is roster bonuses and 3.5 in salary that could be dropped. , I see this as potenially happening. We would save a ton of money. Also I see the possiblity of Spencer being dropped. We have several OC and OG propects, and with his 2.75 salary we could save. He is right now a backup and we have E. Williams and Stehpens that can play center. Also C. Davis/DE He is set to make 850,000 and we have paid him 13 mil over the last 3 years for what? Has he even played, I dont remember it ,if he did.
-
If you trade up for Stephenson, you would probably have to give them your 6th pick.
-
Every GM ranked the prospects differently, so where do you get your information where this is there list. Obviously our GM, (the only one that counts) did have him ranked high as a DE. I with you on I thought they should taken Reiff, but they didnt, so now we have to see how this pans out.
-
Other than Coples, none of the DE prospects were large body types to begin with, Coples was bigger, Jones was taller, Perry, Ingram,Merculis are all about the same size, and Irwin was smaller. I think they might have taken Ingram if he was available, but he wasnt. They had to take McClellin, at that spot or GB or NE would have gotten him. So he doesnt fit what we thought of the position, but that doenst mean he wont be an effective pass rusher and thats what they were intending to get with the first round pick. I dont care who we would have picked, as not everyone on here would have been happy anyways. I dont know how this turns out but like the idea of taking a pure football player with speed. Irwin was the only one that was faster.
-
I think agents are trying to get in early in case some kind of injury could occur in OTAs, because there isnt a lot of room on the rookie contracts.
-
Actually you hit on some stuff, but probably unless your deaf and dumb, most on here have made most of the same statements. Actually you were wrong on the Briggs thing, we didnt trade him.
-
He could turn out to be a starter, but doubt if that would happen his first year. He needs to get stronger and gain experience.
-
been a long time since i've posted here but....

I as you thought LT was our most needed position, and we didnt get anything done there, so now we can only hope for the best. Webb hasnt made any progress in two years, and if Carmi stays healthy, I see the possiblity him moving to the left. The middle of the line will be ok with the competition but OT still could be big problem. -
He is the same size as Arvil, Babin,Cris Long,Clemons, and T. Cole, all in the top 13 pass rushers in the league last year that played the true DE position. He is big enough, but needs to get stronger, and I think we can make him that.
-
When Tice was head coach, he only had a true fullback on his roster for 1 out of the 4 years. I see Clutts not being around and Evan being the hybrid H back/TE and rolling with that.
-
The more you read about this kid, the more you have to get excited to actually be getting a football player with speed.
