I like his confidence, and he has a track record to prove he can play.

I agree, and you think that would get it done, but so much for tempered egos. Sean Jensen on the Score this morning brought up an interesting point. With all his good stats, he doenst score TDs as the same rate as the better high paid RBs do in the league. example McCoy-20 TDs. Forte-4 Even D. Williams, who really sucked last year had 7.

For Gods sake dont bring those letters up again.

Here in an interesting article from NFP. The Philadelphia Eagles understand this process. With LeSean McCoy set to enter the final season of his four-year rookie contract, the Philadelphia front office cleared the necessary cap space and rewarded one of the league’s best running backs with a five-year contract extension worth $45 million with $20.765 million guaranteed on Thursday. McCoy is happy. The team is happy. 2012 could be a big year for the Birds. LeSean McCoy landed a lucrative new contract extension after a record-setting 2011 season. The McCoy deal serves as the most recent example of how the Eagles have done an excellent job of identifying, evaluating and solving potential problems. Disgruntled wideout DeSean Jackson got his big payday back in March and should be nothing but smiles heading into training camp. Defensive woes were addressed with the acquisition of veteran linebacker DeMeco Ryans as well as the selections of DT Fletcher Cox, LB Mychal Kendricks and DE Vinny Curry in April’s draft. The forecast is looking good in Philadelphia. But just over 750 miles to the west, a storm has been building on the horizon. Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte wants to feel the love. Since entering the league in 2008, only five players have amassed more total yards from scrimmage than Forte. Two of those players (Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson) struck gold last offseason and should be financially set for life. Forte wants to join CJ2K and AP in the VIP section, but at the current moment, the Bears don’t appear willing to shell out the paper. This much we can accept as fact: Matt Forte deserves a new contract. He earned a trip to January's Pro Bowl and during his first three seasons in the NFL, Forte started all 48 games for Chicago and accounted for 33% of the Bears’ total offense. But does Forte deserve to be paid the same amount of money as LeSean McCoy? He and his agent will vehemently argue yes, but they could run into some pitfalls along the way: 1. Age: Forte turns 27-years-old on December 10 while McCoy turns 24-years-old on July 12. That’s a big gap when it comes to the running back position. Forte also has an additional 436 touches worth of tread on his tires, having played in 14 more regular season games than McCoy. 2. Competition: McCoy is the featured back in Philadelphia and will only lose carries if he’s hurt or needs a quick break during the game. On the other hand, Forte now has to contend with the likes of former Oakland Raider Michael Bush, who signed a four-year deal with the Bears back in March. Bush is one of the league’s most underrated running backs, having amassed 1,395 total yards and eight scores in just nine starts last season due to an injury sustained by starter Darren McFadden. With Bush on the roster, the Bears won’t need Forte to handle as much of the load as he has in the past. 3. Career Production: McCoy is coming off an All-Pro season in which he was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Year while setting the Philadelphia franchise record for single-season touchdowns (20). He’s averaging 5.29 yards per touch for his career vs. Forte’s 5.02. In addition, McCoy has found the end zone once every 24.3 touches during his career, while Forte is scoring once every 42.6 touches. The above chart illustrates another discrepancy between the two players. In McCoy’s three NFL campaigns, the Philadelphia running back tends to produce at a consistent level throughout the entire season, while Forte’s production tends to decrease during the second half of the year. Further complicating the negotiations will be the Arian Foster dynamic. The Houston running back signed a five-year, $43.5 million deal with $20.75 million guaranteed back in March. Forte and his agent, Adisa Bakari, will likely point to this extension as well during their talks with the Bears front office, but you have to remember that Foster has produced at a much higher level over the last two seasons than Forte. Since 2010, Foster ranks second in the NFL in rushing yards (2,840), first in rushing touchdowns (26) and first in total yards from scrimmage (4,061). He’s also a year younger than Forte and has 451 less touches worth of wear on his tires. As it stands, the Bears appear content to let Forte play out the 2012 season under the franchise tag at a value of $7.742 million. That’s a significant wedge of cheese, but it pales in comparison to the $20+ million in guarantees that both McCoy and Foster landed this offseason. Identify, assess and solve. Chicago and Philadelphia have taken two different approaches to a very similar problem. It should be interesting to see which organization’s approach yields the greater return.

Webb isnt very good, and giving him another year to prove himself is risky for Cutlers health. Our next option is C. Williams, he worries me too. And Carimi going to the left side will be the 3rd option.. I suppose Brown figures to be the 4th option, but not likely. So I guess everything is not a total loss, maybe one of them work. Actually I want everyone to have sucess, but will settle for just one.
-
CBS sportsline listed a writers top 100, so (without cheating) can you name the 4? Honestly I would have missed one of them, but got the other 3.

I dont think they have ever been cheap, and agree, spend money badly. When do want someone they go out and spend, the problem is they usually have the wrong opinions of people and waste money, which makes them more fruggle when spending it.
-
Hey I am routing for him to do good, I just have serious doubts due to his past performances. I am a big Bears fan and want every player we have to be the best, but have to do reality checks in my view of the team.
-
Webb was rated the worst LT in the league last year by PFF who does the stats thing. I agree the off season affected him, but what is his ceiling? 25th best? He needs to make a giant leap, we cant keep experimenting with the LT spot. It is to late now to do anything about it, so hope he jumps forward or C. Williams is solid if moved in to the starters role.
-
So what will be the biggest buzz when training camp breaks and they come back to Chicago? Forte holding out? Cutler-Marshall duo looking great? Alson Jeffery becomes a starter? J. Webb loses starter job to C. Williams? Carimi move the the LT position? Im making the call, Forte a holdout.

6 mill. Beliceck makes 7.5 to lead the way.
-
The problem is in two years, he hasnt made any progress. You would assume anybody would improve in that time if they had talent. I havent seen it.
-
After Cutler came out and made statements about the OLine, Webb told the press he would be ready to play that all off season he has been "eating and drinking football" and has Cutlers back. It thats the case, last year he must have been on a fasting diet.

Lovie is 6th on the list of all pro sports coaches, just not the NFL. So much for the Bears being cheap. It is from a article posted on PFT.

I always surf the web to find stories about the Bears and found one that does that for me. Topix.com/Chicago Bears ( I dont know how to link it) It searches the web for any stories on the Bears and posts them everyday. It makes it easy for me.
-
the problem is the roster is full and they did not sign him , the tryouts are over and he didnt make it, no matter how tall he is.
-
I remember the disagreement and the facts you stated were true, but my point on all of that was if he is so talented I would assume he would have found his way at the most important spot on the OL , and not have been moved around so much. When Carimi got hurt last year, I would have thought they moved Williams in that spot, instead of a inexperienced guard. I think he is ok of a player but I would consider a bust as a #14 LT that hasnt been able to secure that spot.
-
He was ranked by one guy 54th, there are tons of people ranking players. The only ones that matter is how GMs rank players, and they get it wrong more that they get it right. I hope he turns into a good player, but odds of that being this year are very slim. Not because of where he was drafted, but because he needs to gain strength and experience and you dont get that in a couple of months.
-
We are on the same page with Webb. He just hasnt progressed in two years of starting, no matter how long his arms are and quick his feet is. I just dont see it. Maybe this is the year he makes the leap, but to where? average. I think the LT spot needs a better than average player there and we just dont have that guy on the roster. C. Williams, give me a break, if he was so good he would have siezed the moment and grab a OT spot, instead they made him a guard.

I think the OLine goes as follows Williams, Rachel, Garza, Louis, Carimi. I think Dline will be McClenin, Melton/Idonije(rotation), Paea/Toeiea(rotation), Peppers. Idonije is 10 to 15 lighter than he should be at DT but with his experience and having played there before, dont see it as a reach. All of this is based on Shea being able to handle the run well. With Shea and Idonije in there at the same time, it makes the left side of the line light. If McCargo shows anything, Idonije will stay at DE.
-
You are right as that PROBABLY being our strongest lineup, but think Rachel could come into play. He was a high rated prospect that dropped off for a reason. Didnt get along with the new coaches? Had a personal issue? Got lazy? I think when some players change teams, they have to reprove themselfs and get motivated, so they get it on. If that is the case, then maybe Rachel at LG and Garza stays at center. Just a thought.
-
Melton and Idonije both will play the 3 tech spot, so they wouldnt be starting at the same time.
-
The way I measure everything is Brady was a 6th round pick. The system is flawed and every once in awhile a player makes it threw. It would be nice if that was Brown, but odds are against him
-
I think the possibility exists that Idonije moves to DT and Davis, Wooten, Shea and Peppers are our DEs. Totally bases on how well MeClenin starts out. I would say Louis is a sure things as Williams moves outside. I doubt if any of the first year guys on OL make the opening day roster except Brown, sinced they dropped Horn. The Oline on opening day: Webb,Carimi,Garza,C. Williams, E. Williams, Spencer,Rachal, Louis. maybe Brown on practice squad and brought up in case of injury. I also think with OT thin, there could still be a training camp cut in the league that could be brought in at the last minute, if somes injuries pop up.

If it came out, probably more than half the pro players smoke pot, but are smart enough to not get caught.Being young and thinking your smarter than those testing you are not uncommon. It will depend on his work ethic and how he turns out as a football player, not whether he quits smoking pot. To bad Hurd is not still on the team, to teach him to hide off field issues. He did that for several years before he got caught being stupid.
