That's a highly likely scenario.

They don't need him to start right away, they will let Braxton play the year out. If they think he's a upside LT in the league, I think this is the perfect scenario. If Campbell is a true LT, I would be all in on him. You did make a good point before, you need to draft a day one starter at 10, any OL pick will probably not start this year.

Pick one: 10 Simmons/ 39 Landon Jackson/ 41 Alfred Collins/ 72 Cam Skattebo / 145 Malachi Moore/ S 10 James Pierce/ 39 Josh Connelly/ 41 TJ Sanders/ 72 Andrew Mukuba /S / 145 Jayden Blue/RB

Eric bienemy went to see Jeanty and Johnson, Poles and Dennis Allen were together at OSU. There's only a couple spots all three were at. If Jeanty was our #10 pick, more power would have been there. I think Jayden Blue may be a better chance of being our 6 th round draft pick than Jeanty is at 10. He has 4.38 speed, explosive traits in wide zone schemes. We are drafting a compliment back not a load back . He shared duties in college so doesn't have heavy load on his body. A speed weapon Johnson can use situationally. After listening to Campbell talk after his pro day, I like him better. He stated ( no one complained about my play until they measured my arm length, that's bullshit). ( Not exactly the way he said it. Simmons worked out at his pro day, 33 reps of 225. If his agility is back, could be pick 10.

For a pick at 10 there just isn't a must pick LT. Membou will be the first OL off the board and then Campbell. I don't think either ends up LTs. Then Banks and Simmons,I think they play LT but they're not pro bowl types IMO, above average starters but is that the pick you want at 10 ? The DT you take should be in that mold. Nolen, Grant is my choices for there.

It's a depth piece, unless a major injury happens, he will just play ST. If they draft a CB, he may be gone.

Didn't know where to put this. I heard Jarrett, Dexter, Sweat, and Booker are working out together in Florida with a pass rush specialist.( Didn't see his name mentioned.) Clearly Jarrett had to have a lead role in putting this together. I thought this shows a leadership position getting players together. I also heard Olin Kreutz saying he was working with Kiran A at his gym. These are the type of commitments that is going make this team jell.

Last year Moore was ranked 46th by pff. He had 12 sacks and 5 penalties, and got 4 years 82 mil.. Braxton will get over 20 mil a year next year.

A lot of drafts, I'm seeing Campbell drop out of the top 10. Rarely do you see a OG go top 10. Quentin Nelson was a 6th pick but Campbell is not close to his grade. The short arm aspect is real , there's only 1 LT starting with arms his length. compared to Braxton 35.4 and Kiran at 36.2, he's 32.6. He has small hands and wingspan is 78 , Braxton 84 and Kiran at 85. Say it doesn't matter but the league tells you it does. Banks arm length is 33.5, 1 inch more than Campbell, so he's projected at OG a lot to. Someone will play LT out of this group but very few fit that mold.

Last year our OL sucked, now this year we add potential a top 5 IOL, and we will draft a couple OL to start building depth on the OL. If we add high level draftee just that much better . To think we are going to start trading players? That's insane.

As much as we have this narrowed down to a few players, Poles is going to surprise us , I can feel it.

Profootballnetwork has a easy to use simulator. They keep changing the order according to how people move up and fall back in the draft buzz. None are completely spot on but something to play with.
-
My interest is more the football people they have on. Olin Kreutz and Dave Wannsted come to mind. I like the bears atmosphere more than any particular host.

Anytime, football season, I'm working or doing anything around the house I listen to the score. In Rockford it comes in much better than ESPN. I've listened from the beginning of their existence and liked some DJs and disliked a few . Bernstein is a smart guy but would always talk down to people, think he's smarter than everyone else and was an a**hole a lot. I am happy he's gone. I used to be on his Twitter account and would call him out when he was a jerk. He finally blocked me. He always wanted to interject politics into his sports world. For me, I always used sports for my escape from normal reality. If you live woke, you die woke. It happened to him.

Let me say that the possibility exists but no way in hell they do that. They are trying to win here, build depth thru the draft and he can take over when a spot is open. We finally have a potential good OL and break it up for a 5 th round pick?

No one is picking Nolen nationally but is a realistic pick for 10 as a sleeper. I'm not trying to suck up to AZ but I would love some Kenneth Grant at 10. He would play the NT spot where Nolen is a 3 T where we have Dexter and Jarrett already. My sleeper pick is Will Johnson/CB. I don't think it's a need but Gordons contract is due this year and Stevenson still has to prove himself. Edge and CB are the two most valuable spots, contract wise, on defense. I would not want this but could understand it.
-
Why would they do that? You don't acquire talent and then trade it. I think they want the 3 IOL to stay together for the 3 years as they develop draftees behind them. I expect an addition if at least 2 OL, one early and one late.
-
If they extend him before the season starts, that says everything of their plans.

Since we've filled most of our needs, backups still in question, we will be adding 4 to 5 players that can help this year. They will add to the OL, DL, a RB, a WR, a saftey. We just don't know what the new coaches opinions are on existing players that will go a long way into who we pick high. Johnson may want more weapons that could be Warren or Jeanty. Allen may beg for another edge or top notch Safety. Trying to guess what they will do is almost impossible. I suppose you just say anything and you could be right. I don't think they take WR, QB, or CB that high. Since at 10 will get to pick the second best at nearly every position but TE or RB. The strength of the draft is DT, RB and TE, I would think they get quality later at those positions so for me it's probably DE or LT. Once past the first round, DEs drop off quickly, we should get to pick between Pierce, Williams, Green or Scourton. I didn't include Stewart because I hope we avoid him, no production. I think Pierce, Williams or LT Simmons are our likely choices . I still think we trade back as the first move.

Bears looking for one more wideout in free agency…
Stinger226 replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
I just don't think they are finished building the OL or DL of which will be high picks. Seen where Bates had a good report on his shoulder. If Poles keeps both Stromberg and Bates, Bates will be the first OG back up unless a high profile draftee takes that spot. -
Anyone else think Thumey could play out this year and go back to KC? I can see that happening.

There's a certain group that always goes top 10 regularly. 90% only have Campbell going top 10 but teams drafts are much different than actual projections . Banks could be next to move but have seen a lot of Membou as the second OL off the board. Top 20 usually has Campbell, Banks, Membou and Simmons in them. Booker is the other name that pops up. You only need 1 team to like someone. The key to top 10 is QBs. Is it 2, I've seen 3 pop up. It seems one player always drops and one always rises. Banks could be that player.
