it ended up just being a 3rd round pick

This move does not bother me, he was just a player. He wasnt special. They made you think he was because of our lack of receivers, but soft, not a good blocker, and had some moments , but just as many bad moments. Clark is a FA so all we have it Davis, Spaeth, and some UDFAs. No big deal.

Since the Bears arent going to make much of a big splash in FAgency, here my list to upgrade the roster. Dahl/OG-Atl Nasty attitude bodes well for our OL Light/OT-NE Older but could be a bridge to Carmi or Webb on left side . A two year deal Mebane/DT-Sea Ruskin knows well, has big upside Sims-Walker/WR/Jag bottom end of first tier WRs, could be big upgrade over current crop of wideouts Anderson/LB-Car starting to come into his own and still young Marshall/CB-Car He has good stats and can start on this team None of the above will come cheap but none will cost big money. Light is the only one with age. Mebane signing allows Melton to slide to end and give the outside some speed.

I think we need a speed rusher to complement Peppers. If he comes at a moderate price , it will upgrade that position. Give him a contract with incentives and see what he has. He doesnt deserve a big payday.
-
I have seen some rate him as the 2nd best center prospect. I think he can make the roster and in two years be the starting center. He by ProFootballWeekly had him a potenial 4 th rounder and starter down the road. With Tice I think that is completely possible.

I am in and saturday works for me(evening) the money league -
Hopefully we get a OT that can eventually play OG after Carmi and Webb is ready. I think we also get a inexpensive OG something on the order of a Ruben Brown. The only big splash we make is Cullen Jenkins. A CB and WR, but no big names. I think Brad Smith is a possiblity. He wont be expensive and can run the wildcat. Not my first choice but could be intriuging with Martz. Hopefully they can get Marshall/CB/Carolina, a descent player. They will resign Krutez and Adams, and a couple of our LBs. Meaning Roach will be our SLB.
-
I think they will pursue a OL and WR but it wont be expensive additions. Jenkins wont come cheap and it leaves very little to spend on other positions.

Ive been in South America for the last two weeks so havent been able to comment. I like the Latina. I think we could have addressed a more pressing need at this spot but now that he is here. Look at the potenial. I think we drafted him that high is because a 15 year nfl coach Penergrass sees a potenially blue chip safety out of position in college. I dont know much about him but will have to rely on his opinion as the Bears did. I would say a boom or bust selection with a possible of being a blue chipper. Maylock liked him and Im am finding he is pretty accurate with his opinions. Lets hope they scored with the risk as a third round pick.

the only reason I seleted Lutui was he is coming from a shithole, he didnt play well last year but had an excelent year the year before. There were better choices coming from good teams which mean a bidding war with his team to get them. Lutui will come cheaper. I agree we need a WR and we have several choices to go after. I dont think were going to lay big money. So less expensive wideouts like Floyd/sd, Jones/gb, or Jones/Hou. I think we sign one fairly good contract and several less expensive.

The draft got us 2 really good players, the last 3 are a head scatcher. My suggestions for FA's. There is rumors of going after Cullen Jenkins, of which we will spend alot for. a good move Also I think we will go after a OG of which we wont spend alot on, so I am throwing in the name Duece Lutui. big guy and mean. Also Richard Mashall/CB/from carolina- didnt get a long term extention, and with being friends with Peppers, maybe we get him here. Wont be expensive
-
the first two picks were great, so I will have to give them some slack. there were other people there seeming would have helped more. we will see
-
Quit being so negitive, this is the first draft in a long time we actually got people that can play from day 1. I do like the idea of Little, hope he is there in the 3rd.
-
finally something you said that makes sense.
-
First of all, there is no way you though Bowers would drop that far. He has injury issues or he wouldnt be there. All we need is a failed injured 1st round pick, because you liked him, deal with it. Carmi is needed and to save our Cutler, or who ever is on defense wouldnt matter.
-
Watkins will start from day one, I will take 6 or 7 years from a good player than somebody sitting for 3 years and then be average. He will never make it to our 2 nd round pick.
-
If you think trading down is a good idea, just where we traded out of and could have got and then the results of those picks. It doesnt look very pretty.
-
I like the picks other than the cb but no way Watkins in there in 2 or Carpenter is there in 3.
-
Heres my shot at prosperity. 1st-Danny Watkins/OG/Baylor A day one starter and someone you can build your future with. 2nd-Drake Nevis/DT/LSU A perfect fit for our defense, in rotation at begining of season. 3rd-Buster Skine/CB/Tenn-Chat A good valve here with potenial to start in a couple of years. 4th-Doug Hogue/LB/Syr Potenial down the road and immediate ST contributer 5th-/Linnerhohl/OC/Ore state Kreutz replacement in another year 6th-Enderle/QB/Idaho Someone for Martz to play with.
-
I dont like the idea of trading down. The 29th will be hard to find a rookie as a starter anywhere, let alone lower. If were lucky 3 years from now will have 4 starters in this group, and maybe above average talents. I dont like the rest of the draft at thos spots. You have Franklin overrated but Nevis is a good pick in the second.
-
I think we will draft maybe two OL, and one in FA. So If C. Williams doesnt show any improvement, dumb his ass, we could use that money somewhere else. I think the OL will have 2 new guys and Webb, Kreutz and Garza. If Garza cant cut it, I would say Louis gets another chance.
-
unless your drafting at the front of the 1st round it is hard to have a rookie start and make a solid contribution, but Watkins is one that could start day one, of which we need out of our 1st round pick. It may be to early at 29 but he is rated on big boards at about 33 so I say if our left tackle propects are off the board, taking him would give us a starter with that pick in an area of need. You wait and see and NE will pick him, and they have a history of making solid picks.
-
I would take Green as will be a star, and can get a valved DT down the draft, as wont be getting a stud WR there.
-
We do need a wr, but a DT and offensive line is much more important. I think another CB is in order and then a WR
