Emery didnt blow the Mincey deal, he was ready to sign a deal and the Jags upped their deal and he just stayed home. I would have liked either Winston or Grubbs, but I am not running an NFL team and they had people targeted and those werent on their list. The only thing that bothers me so far with this off season is not signing a OT, but just not that many options out there. We only have 1/2 of the picture, we need to wait till after the draft to hold judgement, everybody wants all these bigger FAs names but we simply didnt have the money to sign eveybody. When Wimbley signed at 7 mil per year we didnt have enough money left to pay that. If Cutler gets hurt again then they will be lauded for signing Campbell, I in no way think that was a bad signing. The 3.5 it cost for him wont have given us any of the bigger names anyway and you have to keep in mind, we have many roster spots to fill and have to have bodies there and spending on a couple of bigger FAs wouldnt have worked. We still have many spots to fill and they cant all be undrafted FAs.
-
I agree with you on Egnew in that later round.
-
I think they are going for it this year, because of the age of the stars on defense, they are trying to make a push this year and thats why the dollars for a good backup QB. If Culter gets hurt, then it will have been worth it, if not , no more Hanie circuses.
-
I agree, I think Randle will go in the second round, but was just using his draft site. Irwin will just be a situational pass rusher, dont see him ever being an every down end.
-
Looking at the whole draft I would take Martin/OT in the first-Irwin/DE in the second-Trum Johnson/CB in the third and in the fourth Randle/WR, according to their player draft spots. I think they will get either Reiff, Martin or Adams will be there in the first round. The only way they go DE is if Coples drops. WR if Floyd is there.

We have a lot of roster spots to fill, you cant sign 2 big contracts to two players and then what do you do about all the other spots you need to fill. They are fixing shit that Jerry didnt address. A better back up QB, a better back up RB. If we had those two spots fixed last year we would have been in the playoffs. I am, like you, thinking the LT spot is the most important position we needed to fill in the off season. You cant fix everything in one season, and thats why I think they will draft a OT in the first round of the draft. I would have liked both of those LTs brought in for a look, but they do have injury issues, which may be more of a problem than we can see. FAgency has been going for a few weeks, and nobody has signed them yet. I think they will draft a LT, then a CB and then a DE in the draft and if Emery hits on those spots were moving up the ladder, time will tell.

We better our team with Bush over Barber, Campbell over Hanie, and Marshall over everybody. You cant fix everything in one off season but we didnt have the money to due all the upgrades everybody thinks we should have done. I see us as a better team right now,and after the draft we will know more. I give him a C plus right now.(Emery) If we get a OT,DE, CB and some backups, I think we will be a lot better.
-
That will soon change after the draft, I would say Sanz will be leaving but it might be one of the new guys.
-
Beilcheck was a lousy coach at Cleve and now he is some kind of a messiah. The point is we dont know how well this will work till he does it. I think he is a big upgrade to Martz, just because he will adjust to our talent we have instead of running a system. The OL was the worst, and now I will see what he can do with his input on personal. This year will say a lot about his ability to make an OL good and run a good offense.
-
These blobs are quite meaningless when it comes to real life, we just need to keep everything in prespective. We all have opinions and just roll with it.
-
The point was they paid him as a WR hoping he would be that, he aint even close.
-
The only thing that bothers me is not addressing the OL, but we still can in the draft, I dont think in any one offseason you can fill all your needs. I think we shored up some areas but need to have a huge draft and hit on 3 to 4 players that make a contribution. The draft is where Emery expertise is, so we will know in a month how we did.
-
If Cris Williams was so good at LT I dont think he would have been playing LG. I think he didnt meet expectations and they moved him around to try to find some valve with him. He is not a bust, but not who I want playing the LT spot going into 2012, we should shoot higher than that.
-
As far as valve of players, I find Pro Football Weekly and National Football Post, to my liking. I think they do a accruate job, but there are tons of websites out there to confuse any valve other than the front of the draft.
-
What you pay a guy doesnt determine his valve. We paid Hester a good paycheck and said he was a #1, he barely resembles a #4 on a good team.
-
Why would they cut a player that they are paying nothing to? They will wait to see what the new guys bring and decide in TC.
-
At what ever spot they draft a WR they need to take the best one available, it doesnt matter if he is tall.
-
Perry is a reach at 19, there is only two DEs that are deserving of a 19th pick, Ingram, and Coples. The problem with reaching at that spot is , you need an impact player at that spot and he could be possible there in the second. In that second tier who could be there at #2 could be Perry, Mercilus, Branch, Johnson. Irwin will never be there at 5, Everybody has seen his speed, he will never make it past the third round. I think if we pick a OL in the second round, it will more likely be a OT. We have a Louis, Spencer, Williams, and Cris Williams, if they dont change him to LT, so they will be more in need of another tackle than guard. Teams get in trouble when they reach for players, all the good drafting teams take a valved player, and since we have several spots to fill, will find one at 19 between OT,DE,CB, or WR.
-
I dont think all on that list of WRs will be on the team. I think they keep 6 listed as WRs, one more than last year.
-
If your counting Hester as our #3 thats not a good thing. We will be drafting a Wr in the draft. Hopefully to be our #2 and Bennett our #3 and we will be in good shape.
-
I was trying to change the subject and poked the Knitting needle thru my hand. I was wondering if anyone had some advice on knitting.
-
Marshall, Bennett, and a draft pick, then the Hester on special plays. The others are just there for depth/ST. Hopefully not to see the field very much.

Actually he has made comments on many posters on here, me included and I have responded to some of the stupid suggestions he has made. The point is, everyone on here has said something stupid, thats what happens when you post a comment without doing research. It just isnt any big deal. Pay attention to his posts and he will eventually say something dumb, we all do. People disagree and just dont always say things in a polite manner. We all do it.
-
its a low risk move, gives us options, trying to make Hester a #1, dumb, taking a chance on Thomas as a #5, smarter
-
I think they have a plan, and fear it may not be looking at the OLine as a priority. They wont be done till after the draft, so I have to wait to give my opinion. They absoulutely have to address the OT spot, and it looks for now that will be with one of the first two picks, if not, then I will join you in complaining.
