He is a similar player to St Clair, execpt younger. They will draft a OT, but now wont be a need in the first round. He has started for 5 years, and was bad last year. Two years ago, he played well. He is average but will be a starter, and maybe in our sceme can play better. Now in the first we can take the best player available and get someone in the 2nd or third that can start in two years. He will then be a the swing tackle his last two years of his contract.

I agree with you, I was trying to give a reason why they do what they do, sometimes its hard to understand there moves.

Other than a few high end drafts picks, Britton, Britt, Nicks, I think almost all the private workouts are second day picks. They seem to be looking for that diamond in the rough all the time. Althought, come to think of it, thats where they draft the best anyways. Payne , Graham, ect.

I think there thought is to play him at LG and have his time in the league will help Williams become better. Also in case Williams doesnt pan out or is injured again, to slide to LT, his position he has the most experience at. Kinda a ace in the hole for Williams, still a big question mark.

I think if we got a trade done for Culter, no way they trade more picks away. He will just draft a WR and the QB can raise the WRs game. We would never win a bidding for a good player. JA places a value on somebody and thats that.
-
The problem is if there are other people seeking him, it drives the price up. Keep in mind the salary cap and that leaves some teams out, so your offer may work.

I was reading Brad Briggs and he talked to an insider type and that person thought that is the order there draft will fall. Now of course that depends on who is there, but sounds like what they would think as an importance order. If that is the case, name your three picks. Britton/OT Byrd/FS Barden/WR/ Cal Poly

Funny guy

A 6 th round pick isnt exactly considered a next year starter, and that is what you would have to give up for him. A special team stud, and find some spots for him on the field, sounds like a no brainer for me.

I agree, plus the fact that the Eagles need a RT bad and with a run in the first round, wont leave anybody left at there next drafting position. Plus why a cb, when FS is such a need?
-
There are several good players that werent signed for big money and would have filled a need here. Its like the only people we sign are invisible to the rest of the league and we got a deal. I would like them to be good pickups but history tells us a few will be ok and a few will fail. Its the arrogance of our leaders that bothers me the most.
-
The problem with that statement is they havent drafted well either. I hope your right, the funny part is when we think they suck the most; they suprize us.
-
As much as we all are feeling at a lose, between now and training camp they still could a lot done. They must be thinking after the draft what we dont get, we will fill in with Fagents. It is just hard to feel good about the off season so far. Rueben Brown wasnt brought in right away and he turned out to be great for us. Just be positive and hope they are smarter than we think they are.

Are you talking about Mike Hass?

Chargers are shopping Kaseem Osgood/WR - 28- 6 year pro. He must have some limitations but is a big guy 6' 5" 220 and has been all pro as a special teamer for the last few years. There are several good receivers in SD and he wants playing time. They are looking for a low round draft pick.
-
Since LB has been brought up, upgrading the SLB would be nice in this draft, with so many needs it is hard to say where they might draft one.
-
A lot of people on here think other teams want some of our players. I think the only ones they would consider is Briggs or Harris and a first round and maybe another draft pick. The problem is several teams will want him so that drives up the price. Fantasy football starts in 5 months. He will be very costly will probably takes our Bears out of the picture.
-
Finally we are starting to sign people! The fact it is just another body that could be a training camp cut, but I guess I will be positive.
-
I think your right on as the third drafted, the only thing Harvin might sneek in there with a great workout.
-
DHB is a high reward, high risk player. Look at his production in college. With his body he should have put up stud numbers but he didnt. He is going to be a Ted Ginn type player, ok but not great. Nicks, could be the best receiver coming out of this draft, but as someone has mentioned before, if the Cotls draft you, you might be a stud, if the Vikings draft you, maybe you stuggle.
-
The fact is there have been some good reports about him and some bad. We all have opinions and none of us are experts. The guys that get paid to evaluate talent is wrong 50% of the time in the first round.
-
He was a highly productive player in college, I see him doing well, some just take longer to adjust to the nfl.
-
I agree with all of that, how about a top line center or guard that could play tackle? They view Unger and Johnson that way.
-
If we can bring in 2 or even 3 OL picks, I would be happy with that, lets fix the offensive line, and grab some WR and a FS, and go from there. Second tier takles include.Meredirth/SouCar----Kropog/Tul------Tupog/Ore-----Lang/EasMich-----Fulton/ Ill I would like to see us go Nicks in the first, Duke in the second and 4th round Boone/OSU ( big and strong) 41 reps of 225

My take on all of this they view Omilyale as a starter and put him at LG in case Williams doesnt pan out. Kind of a insurance policy for LT. They will bring in another guy to play RT and also draft one. There are a lot of mistakes this regime has made with personal but think they scored on Omilyale and only need this year so we know that was a good pick. They planned on using SC as the starter this year and draft a RT and then the next two years SC was our swing tackle. Its all ok, I wanted him back but they will find someone and still draft a guy.
