I not only think we need to draft one or two offensive lineman but also we need to think about grabbing one that is a leader to take Olins place a coulpe of years from now. There is no one on the line right now that shows leadership quaities to take Olins place. I think Robinson/OG/ Olk fills that bill. Also as a later round pick OT/ Boone/ OSU is was the leader of there line and 4 year starter. Projects to be a RT as a 3d or 4th round pick. He could fill both roles as a draft pick.

There is no way in hell Nicks falls to the second round. There are a lot of drafts but your smarter than most doing the draft. There are some that know there stuff. I think Walters is pretty good, Great Blue North, and Sporting news has former nfl scouts addressing there site. Britt and Robiskie will fall to the second round but will not be there when we pick. Unless we pick one in the first, will have to second tier WR.

Put me down for Denvers pick, if no one is there

I just read in the Sporting News that the Bears have called Bengals to talk about Levi Jones.

We are required by league rules to spend the 111mill, my point is people think we have to spend 127mill, and thats not the case. I am not saying that is a good idea, just that i was under the impression we had to spend 127, so I assured others thought that. As for Plummer I am glad we didnt get him either, just we have spent and attempted to large contracts on players. They have never went out and spent big money on total busts, Wali, and Moose have had some valve not necessary up to what we spent on them. I take that back, Benson was a big money bust.

I think to have good play you need to mix old and young. Bring in a veteran that could start for descent contract and draft a guy high to compete and let the better guy win. In two years we have Williams, Omiyale, Beekman, Buening, draft pick. I could see that happening. And a little depth.
-
production verse money, they pay him alot of money, but have had some injuries of late and maybe the threat is to get him to restructer his deal.He would be worth a look, and if we could get it done, move Williams to RT.

We all have alot to complain about with the powers that be, but one thing they have did very well is handle the salary cap. We have alot space but we only have to spend 111,000,000. We dont have to spend 127 mill. Get a good value now when you sign someone and when something pops up like the Cutler deal then you have the space to make that move. Whether we have enough things to trade for him or not, I at least want them to look at it to see what might be possible. They have in the past targeted people to pay, it just didnt always work out. I remember them going after Plummer /Broncos, and he took less money to stay in Denver, at least we tried. I would just like to see the effort.

To me it seems that the Broncos end up short on the deal, everybody gets two players and they get an unproven qb out of the deal. Sounds like a trade we would make.

I see us now taking maybe two tackes in the first 5 picks. Maybe a OG Johnson/LSU in the third that can play OG or OT. As other people have said, lets get younger and bigger and bitch slap the rest of our division.
-
I have read that a few nfl scouts project him as a RT
-
He was just a guy that knew the system. I think he was only a one year starter and just would have been a backup his last two years. I dont blame them for not wanting to pay 3 mill a year to a two year backup. That means that one of the first two picks will be a OT, but we still need a back up or one years starter.
-
As much as we might think there brain dead at Halas Hall, Im sure they have someone in mind to go after if SC signs with Browns. Maybe Ijodije(I cant spell) can play OT
-
Well if you like St Clair its good news he didnt jump on the contract offer right away, must be close enough to the Bears offer, to see if they will match or get real close. The longer it goes the better chance he comes back, and since we dont have many options at OT, I want him back.

2nd to 3rd round

I just read that Greg Gabriel, head of scouting was personally at West Virgina's Pat Whites workout on his pro day. I dont usually hear his near on visits.
-
If Bowman can stay healthy that might be a good move. Just becuase Bennett didnt play last year doesnt mean he cant play, it means Lovie aint that sharp. Look at Graham and Beekman, didnt play two years ago and looked descent last year. The more bodies we have at positions the best chance we have at finding someone that can play.
-
I dont how having Calvin highlights would favor the Bears? Having Bennett on this team might make it more attractive to Culter but Detoit can offer more and I dont think the coaching staff cares where Culter would want to go.
-
Unless they stupid with money and are only offering him a swing tackle job, then he will be back here tuesday. Who the hell would pick Cleveland over Chicago?
-
There not going to want Orton, so it will definitly a first and a third this year? The problem is many teams will be bidding for his services and we wont have enough to offer. Detroit is making a play and they have higher picks and more of them.
-
I read a story on the first 10 WRs taken in the last 4 drafts, there is only 10 players that made an impact on there teams. Most were busts, with the court still out on some of them. With that much risk at the top end of the draft, I only see the Bears taken a receiver with the 1st pick if Crabtree or Macklin are there. Probably wont draft one till the 3rd or 4 th round.
-
We spent time with Urbik at the combine, and Lang is just a guy that will take some time, like many that later rounds will produce. Nicks and Byrd are excellent picks and also Veikune is as good as any of the later round DE propects.
-
I would suspect that with that happening DE wont be a high pick, unless a stud drops to us at 18. The spot open will be for a future replacement for Wali.
