Forte, own FAs, a bigtime Wr, I don't think there will be enough left. I pray I'm wrong, I wish we could hat 7 starters this year between draft, and FAency..
-
I think we need a starter at LT, and you did mention the only options. I dont think any of them will come cheap. I am refering to not enough money to sign all that we need. The Chargers will be bidding to bring back Gaither. Bell will cost and if McNiel proves to be healthy , people will pay to get him.

You have insider information, Im not sure if you know the janitor or the guy that plows, but can you ask your guy what the actual cap figure is. l read around 20, you keep saying 30, and am confused on this.
-
You have identified all of our needs, but we cant fill the offensive ones in FAgency. We will get one big signing and a couple of marginal players. I dont think we have large sums of money to spend like many of the bloggers on here. We still have to pay Forte and several of our own FAs so our pile of money shrinks fast, so we will have to address offense in the draft also. The way I see it ; we get a #1 WR, a second tier WR, a depth LB in free agency. Then we draft; OT in round 1 WR in round 2 CB in round 3a DE in round 3b LB in round 4

So did you predict 70 to 80, 1000 yards for Williams this year? If and a big if someone picks up Moss, what will your excuses be for his lack of production, a NFL conspirecy ? If we picked up a top tier WR in FAgency, and draft a high pick in the draft like we should, if we had Moss, he would look like R. Williams did this year. Just because you want him , doesnt mean he is any good.
-
I am not sure that is a rumor, it is a writer with nothing else to do but say a obivious statement we need an upgrade.
-
My point was we got Williams, and stopped looking for a better Wr. I will eat crow if wrong, I don't think he will productive anymore, so I think having faith him will prohibit us from getting better at the position. If we bring in a #1 and a high draft pick, then maybe adding him but be ok.

The 29 TDS was in 2007. Roy Williams had a great year 5 years ago, what did that do for us? Here is the problem, if we go after Moss, it will limit us into getting a more legitimate WR. Kinda like signing Williams this year, then how long will he be here? It is real simple, this year more than any other year, we have the chance to get a #1 WR, lets quit screwing around trying to get old WRs and get a real one that has a future. Of course he is better than any we have, all of our WRs are crap but for Bennett. Knox will never play again, Hester is a special play guy, Bennett the 3rd down guy, and Williams is more of the same you want to bring in here, a play once in awhile and when you need him to make a big catch, he lets you down, but you look at the 33 catches and ONE TD and you think its 2006 again, take your medication.
-
you have a lot of good ideas sometimes, but this isnt one of them.
-
thank god your not a GM, you would be unemployed right now with the old WR thing. What ever you want to bet, Bennett will have more catches than the two of them combined next year.
-
I dont know how I havent seen this before, you are brilliant. Instead of signing De. Bowe for 9 mil, and wasting our 1st round pick on a WR, we sign Moss, TO, Chad Johnson, and Buress for the same money as for Bowe. We go 16-0, Culter throws for 54 TDs, and we win the Super Bowl by 46 points. You have opened my eyes to the quality over 35 WRs that are so available for us. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
-
The more people we lose , the more we have to sign. I am bad at. Math 8,to Forte , 9 mil to a #1WR, 5 to a rookie pool, maybe. 5 to resign our own FAs, , I can't figure how we go after 2bigtime FAs.
-
The more we know the more we can see clearer on these prospects.
-
We dont need any of the over the hill WRs out there. We should quit living in the past and get some young players, to live in the now. Giving him a spot distracts us from finding someone to have a future with. Take Chad Johnson, TO, and Moss and line them up and shoot um, so you get off this (he use to be good, and how great he would be) kick. Rarely does anybody produce at latter years. Let me see, Roy Williams, and he isnt even old yet.
-
I like to gamble, but with so many questions in the air, I would be throwing my money away to do one now.
-
If your talking about my post if wouldnt be Garcon, if would be S. Johnson, a draft pick and Royal. Royal will just take Knox's place(since I think he will be done playing football) and just has the upside of being good again being back with Cutler. S. Johnson, Draft pick, Bennett, Royal, as our first 4, think that would work out for WRs. The draft pick will be the BIG WR we need. Floyd, Hill, Randle,Toon,McNutt.
-
I am just showing other peoples opinions on WRs that we have been discussing on here. Toon has been inconsistent at times, but I think he was on a strong running team and with a little coaching can clean his act up, and be a productive pro. I dont think he is a #1 type but could grow into the roll of a #2. I have seen him play 6 times and just thought I liked his game. Didnt watch much Illini ball this year, but have seen McNutt a few times and he can catch the ball well, just not sure he has the quickness to get good seperation on routes at the next level. Toons production on a passing team would have got him more stats. So I see a diamond in the rough. The last time I routed for a WR for the Bears to draft it was Jordy Nelson, and he turned out to be descent. Everybody passed on Victor Cruz, and he played well this year. I think there is always players that suprize us every year, just would like him to be playing for the Bears.
-
Moss would be worth a look , but if he our Wr offseason big signing we are screwed.
-
What do you, base your opinion on? After they pay Forte, 9 to10 to a wr, several of there own FAs to sign, a rookie pool of 5 mil, how we going to sign another top tier FA?
-
Was just reading that S. Johnson is asking for big money. The other 3 WRs want the #1 money. It will be tough signing one since there old teams will try to keep them. Your talking about 10 mil a year to get one the big 3 or Johnson. Think we will be paying that? Maybe sign Meachen, Royal and a 1st round Wr might be what we are looking at. Good teams dont let good players go with out a fight.
-
I would like to add, they probably (Buf) will tag one of them. so maybe not very realistic.
-
I agree, thats why I think because of his injury issue, D. Bell/Buf/LT could be had at a fair price. Also grab a WR more of the likes of S. Johnson because he wont cost the same as Bowe/Jackson/Colston. I think we can fit them in the budget plus a 2nd tier WR (Royal) then fill our other needs in the draft. CB,DE, another WR, LB depth. We almost have to hit on all our needs to improve this year to a SB contender. Boy that will be tough.
-
I actually think it is more important to go OLT but the options there are slim. Then upgrade at WR for sure.
-
I dont sell myself short, just know sometimes I jump without a lot of developed thought.
-
I think we only have one big pay FA signing, the rest will be 2nd tier signings. I wish we could
