I dont think he would want to come here. Cold weather, poor passing game, not going to offer the most money. He will have better options that us.

We need to go shoplifting and steal this guy!!!!!

All I was trying to say was we have areas of need in several other places before we get to DT. Anytime we can get better at a posiition I m all for it, just should address them first. I donjt think we have enough draft picks to fill all of our needs this year. -
We still need to sign SC and draft a RT in the draft. SC is 32 so a couple of years of him as a starter and swing tackle would give us better depth.
-
He is a frist rate LT in the league and looking for 10 mill a year. So to get him maybe give up Williams, and a 4th round pick? I dont know if that would be worth it but I still think Williams is a big question mark. Then still draft a right tackle in the draft.

I think with so many potential Wrs that could be good, that JerryGM would rather draft one than give up a couple of high draft picks and knowing he is getting a high dollar contract with Boldin. If they thought we were close to going to a Superbowl as Lovie professes, then they would go after someone like Boldin, but being we have so many holes to fill, they act more like a rebulding team so go with the draft pick. -
I meant wouldNT command a large contract.

A definiate upgrade and would help the running game out, and would command a large contract, its a fullback.

Probably not likely with quite a good draft for WRs but a nice thought considering we have the money and the need. As far as annoying, your thought that DT is a need is annoying, we all have opinions so thats my thought. -
What I read on him, was the weak link in the offensive line. He performed much better two years ago. Maybe he just had a bad year or nagging injuries. He has been a starter so is worth a look, new scenery might light a fire under him. We just simply need more bodies and let competition decide who plays.

I think OL is a need and will have someone there worth drafting. Unless a top 10 type stud drops at another position down to us, then it is a no brainer.
-
Steltz is a SS is listed as a FS because we have no one else there. Add a FS in the draft and we have 2 and 2 and see what happens.
-
If we got Cultler it would take this years pick, If we sign Pagel we would have to give them our 2nd round pick, he is a RFA
-
If we trade down I think we only have two possible partners. The Giants have 29-----------45----------60. They need a WR, OLB, and another RB add to the mix. Would they want a WR that would be there at 18 enough to give back 29 and 60 for? The Patriots have 23----------34--------47 They need to add a couple of young LBs to help Mayo. Vrabel gone and Bruschi will turn 36. Would they give us 23 and 60 if Cushing or Maualuga drops to us would they pull the trigger?

Lets face a few facts here, the only real true FSs in free agency that were any good was Atogwe/Rams and a distant second Wilson/ Texans the rest are old and SSs. Its not a big risk to bring in a body to give it a shot, I bet he beats out Stelz, and unless we bring in a high draft pick,. will have the job. We can only hope he plays well and we had a good signing. I always look to the positive side of everything and if it doesnt work out then I will bitch about it. I want bodies and hope some come thru. I want more bodies.

They say the knock on him is not a good tackler, he preformed better his rookie season and seem to fall off alot last year. Maybe he had some issues with the coaches and a change of address can restart him. He was the 3rd saftey taken in the 2005 draft and was a stud in college,. maybe he can be a better player here. At least another body to take a flyer at, the more bodies the better chance of finding a diamond in the rough. I wasnt very settled with Steltz as the starter.
-
We got a firestorm going now, by the end of the week there will be 4 more bodies dropping to the Bears.

I am a draftnik and lately have been seeing Nicks getting picked higher and higher on the draft boards. 18th isnt out of the question of taking him to high anymore. I see him going higher than DHB and Harvin.

Does anybody know what he was being paid, I dont think he was redone of the cheap.
-
Does anybody read Sporting News Today online, its free and has interesting reading. There is an article on OTs in this years draft and they rate Oher as the 7th best tackle. They have Beatty and Britton as the 4th and 5th best tackles with at #3 Smith a potenial bust with his lackluster attitude. The article was put together by some former nfl scouts, so they have some expertice in the draft.

We dont have the proper personal to run the true WCO but we use a form of it. Montana had Roger Craig who led had just as many yards receiving as he did rushing. The 3 step drop, short throws, throwing to the backs, TEs, its as close as you get. Alexander in Seatle during there hayday, had lots of receptions beside leading the league in rushing.
-
Everybody explain to me if he is released, why would he want to come here? Poor passing game, outdoor weather, not going to be high bidder. He will have several bidders that will offer more in a better place than here.
-
We run the west coast offense. Short throws, throwing out of the backfield, TEs are in the game plan, and get off the bus running. He would be a seasoned QB for a short term. I think he would fit right in and not cost alot.

Let us all remember we Got Rueben Brown at the end of his career and he had two good years. Pace probably wont be picked up till after the draft. He has been to injured and will want to much. He need to be humbled with a wait to be picked up.
