  1. I havent been on here much during the season, am caught up i FF and Draftkings betting. Instead of going through all these threads to catch up, will just share my thoughts here.

The Bears are just bad, all the optimist of last year and the offseason has took a nosedive. They still could make the playoffs if they win out, but odds are that are slim to none.

Trestman has lost his team and the great offensive mind is coaching scared.

Cutler is just a turnover prone QB with a great arm and questionable decisions.

The one bright spot is Matt Forte, enough said there.

Were no longer playing downfield, now in to the dink and dunk formation with a 25 million dollar QB.

Defense has moments but have lousy LB play, a on again off again DL. The safeties are terrible, and all of the bad affects the play of ok CBs.

Coaching has flown south, we need to lose out to at least get in better draft position, but will go 8-8, 7-9 and be forever mediocre.

Emery has made some descent decisions but has plenty bad to go with it.

It starts with who hired Emery(need to go), the coach, everything needs to be redone.

Its not going to happen but we need a football czar type to be brought in and blow everything up.

None of this will happen, so we will long suffer with mediocrity.

We have some talent to start with but need 3 years of good drafts to right this ship, and I dont trust Emery to do that.

I hate to align myself with the TTs and Grzzlies of this website, but Im agreeing with alot of the negative side of the Bears.

I am sad to say I agree.

  2. Great post and I truly hope the Bears fans give Lovie a standing ovation tomorrow. He deserves it. Once the whistle blows we want to beat those Bucs good but my respect and admiration for Lovie is high and I'm very appreciative to how the organization was run during his tenure. Could we have been better, certainly, but we always showed up to play.

I hope so too....for the few Bears fans who will attend...I reckon there will be a lot of TB jerseys in the stadium.

  3. AMEN BROTHER!! Losing Lovie was probably one of the biggest mistakes the Bears have made in the recent past. Despite his 10-6 record his last year many insisted he couldn't get it done and would always get mediocre results. Yet he had an overall winning record and of all the Bears Coaches in history (dating back to 1920) he was the THIRD winningest coach in team history. Only behind Ditka and Papa Bear Halas. That is fact.

Giving a tip of the hat to Lucky Luciano (using my middle finger) and in response to his earlier commentary about ownership, they made a mistake in letting Lovie go. Were they incorrectly advised? Probably.

I have never hidden from my appreciation for Lovie and I still won't. He may not fit the bill as the 'fire brand' I claim to prefer but obviously he got the job done (as witnessed in this article). Yes I said I'm more a person who prefers instant results and generally you see that more in the fiery and caustic type leaders. But occasionally you can get that from a stern, quiet and respected leader as well. Since my cornerstone of leadership measurement comes from a military background take a look sometime at who Major Dick Winters was. Although not a 'firebrand' type leader, he demanded respect without demanding. And got it.

You just might have me coming around to Lovie.....just wish he could have sorted the O out....

  4. My thought was "oh great, we are going to end up drafting in the middle of round one again instead of a top ten pick". We do this often. Play like crap and then show enough promise to keep the coaching staff "one more year" and we get the #15 pick.

this team is flawed from ownership all the way down to the guy handing out towels

    My feelings exactly......

  5. Passing:

Cutler needs 25 TD passes to pass Sid Luckman to have all the Bears all-time Passing records. During the Carolina game, Cutler (63rd) passed Bob Griese, Ken O'Brien, and Joe Theismann on the all-time yardage list. In the next few weeks he will pass Jeff Garcia, Jim Plunkett, and Jim Harbaugh. By the end of the season he will be close to 50th all-time in passing yards. Rodgers has 120 passing yards than Cutler. With 3 more passing TDs, Cutler will pass Kitna for 61st on the all-time list. He should break into the top 50 by the end of the year. With 38 more completions he will pass Ron Jaworksi for 54th on the list and will move into the top 50 in completions by the end of the year as well. Interestingly, Cutler has 107 more completions than Rodgers.

    Rushing:

Forte is way behind Sweetness, and I don't think that rushing mark will ever be surpassed. However, Forte is only 15 yards from 7,000. He has a good shot at breaking the top 50 this year by passing Charlie Garner, George Rogers, Michael Turner and Terrell Davis. Forte doesn't score many rushing TDs, and is way down the list.

    Receiving:

Marshall needs 9 yards to reach 3,000 as a Bear and tie Wendell Davis for 14th all-time. He should be near the Bears top 10 by the end of the season. With 38 yards he will pass Raymond Berry for 50th all-time. With 3 more TDs, he will have 31 and tie Johnny Morris and Curtis Conway for 5th all-time. With 62 TDs, Marshall is tied for 64th, and will in the top 40 by the end of the year. He is one reception from tying Dick Gordon on the team with 238 and 11th. He will hit the top 10 within the next game or two. Marshall is currently 40th all-time in receptions and will pass Donald Driver and Andre Rison with 13 more. By the end of the year, he will pass Michael Irvin, Charlie Joiner, Chad Johnson, Marshall Faulk, and James Lofton. Some huge names.

Jeffery is already putting up huge numbers and if he can keep it up, he is more than likely going to be the Bears all-time leading WR. He is already 30th in yards, and can be close to top 20 by the end of the season. 37 more yards and he passes Muhammad and 51 to pass Berrian. Crazy to see Knox there, man he really had potential. Just think of the Bears throwing Marshall/Jeffery/Knox/Bennett/Forte out there every play - wow. Alshon is currently 37th in receptions and should also challenge the top 20 by the end of the year.

Forte is already 10th all-time for Bears receiving yards and 2nd all-time in receptions (behind Sweetness). If he stays healthy and plays 2 more years, he may become the all-time leader in receptions (until Jeffery passes him).

    All-Purpose:

Forte just surpassed 10,000 all-purpose yards, currently 131st all-time and is about to pass Earl Campbell. He should break into the top 100 of all time by the end of the year.

    Sacks:

Jared Allen needs 4 sacks to tie Lawrence Taylor for 10th all-time. He also needs 1 to make it his first with the Bears.

    Kicking:

Gould is basically 2nd behind Butler in every kicking category, but has a shot to surpass him. Right now Gould is 41st with 240 FGs and needs 26 to pass Butler on the all-time list (and only 4 for the team record). He will pass Chris Bahr for 40th with 2 more. Gould is 48th all-time in scoring and just passed Emmitt Smith; he needs 11 more pts to pass Mike Vanderjagt.

  6. Maybe he can get in the fight so the Bears can void that contract. Good lord what a joke. I would gladly trade Marshall for somebody like Johnny Manziel if the Browns were serious about dealing him. They probably would rather have a 1st rounder but Marshall wouldn't be a bad pairing with Josh Gordon. Would give them some firepower for Brian Hoyer.

    Just a thought.

Marshall can no longer continue to be a Chicago Bear at this point. It's gotten so bad that even his production on the field doesn't outweigh the distractions anymore. His teammates think he's a clown. He's a total narcissistic piece of crap. I hate to say it, because I've enjoyed having him up until this point, but there's a reason he's on his 3rd team.

    Amen!

  7. That is when I started disliking Briggs as well if not the whole contract hold out B.S. that he played as well. I forget which came first however, still waiting for him to leave and hope that the door does hit him in his a$$ as he heads out!!!

I hope it hits him in the a%% for as long as his life. He is no Bear to me.

  8. I used to hold credence to veteran leadership even if that players skill level wasn't what it once was. Urlacher to me was the epitome of that type player. Most here may not have liked him as a player or person but behind closed doors and on the field something tells me that he led as he should have. The fact that Briggs not only played with the guy and witnessed it first hand but then when thrust into the role to do the same and fell on his face? Disgraceful.

You know as I read this one person I'm kinda feeling bad for is Peanut. Peanut and Briggs were drafted at the same time yet due to health issues Tillman hasn't been able to get on the field as much as he had. The guy was in tears when he learned yet again he'd probably be off the field due to injury. Yet there he has been every game since. Not only cheering for the sidelines but coaching his eventual replacement. That Mr Briggs is class and that is how you do it. I hope that if Tillman can do it he can return for one more year and put this year and the example Briggs has shown behind him. He deserves one last shot at a good season.

    I love Peanut.

But never Briggs...he disgraces the number he wears...

Look up how he crashed his Lambo on the I90

  9. He's back because Wilson is back. This is a good thing IMO.

All the conjecture about replacing Cutler is premature at this point. He's a dick and probably not capable of stepping it up to the next level under any coach, but he's our asshole for the time being. I'd like to see Claussen get some reps when we're down by 50 but whatever. Cutler didn't let Rodgers throw for a zillion yards and TD's last weekend.

The whole damn team is a cluster...

    Yep....

  10. The last game I was going to this season was the Tampa game. I spoke to my friend who I was taking and we both decided to pass.

    Peace :dabears

I am cancelling my NFL Game Pass after this year, and would cancel it now if I would get any cash back.....

  11. Cutler can shut everyone up starting this week. Go put up 300 yards 3 TD's and no INT's. NO INT'S is the key. Then do that week in and week out. INT's are going to happen. The ones I do not want to see are the ones like the one thrown to the Dlineman either GB or Bills, cant remember

Meant it starts this week, and if he can do it week in and week out this argument will be over. If he plays similar to the first half of the season this argument will be over as well, because no one will be able to defend him.

With what the Bears have put around Cutler there are NO more excuses.

There we go...that sums it up.

  12. It's already been said, but it keeps getting reused as it's a good comparison.

1 game doesn't shut people up after underachieving career.

I disagree with about everything you said. I just wanted to point out the overly obvious.

The team is in disarray....who makes the most money on the team?

    Trestmann?

    Nope, the answer is Cutler....

  13. Couple of things:

Why hasn't he won any Championships..... IT takes a TEAM, no QB can do it all. Dan Marino never won a SB.

Why hasn't he put it all together, there are a number of reasons.

    1. Supporting cast- fixed

    2. Coaching prior to Trestman- Tresmtan is a Offensive Coach

    3. OC prior to Trestman- Martz, Tice and whoever else we had sucked. Lovie was on the hot seat and no one wanted to come to Chi

    4. 5 or 6 different OC from Denver to Chi prior to Trestman

Amani Toomer should put a little more effort into speaking about Jay Cutler, using the JG comparison has already been said.

The Bears have put everything into place for Cutler. 2nd year in the same system, weapons, before injuries good Oline..... So far his numbers are up, all in the top ten. All he has to do is eliminate a few costly mistakes and there is nothing to bitch about.

Take 4 stupid why the freak did you throw that pass plays out of the first half of this season and this would not even be a discussion. Cutler made some bone head throws, so guys like Toomer talk shit. I get it. But making blanket statements like these are just plain stupid.

We'll see....with the last place Chicago Bears.
