  1. Cutler has to be one of the players the Bears are counting on to take them to the next level...he won't last long like this. Should we take a major player or two and make a trade for an O linesman?
  2. I agree the O Line has some improving to do, but I am actually slightly impressed with the improvement shown so far. If they can do a good job tomorrow I will be ever more impressed.
  3. Just wanted to alert everyone to the Thayers Play of the Week on ChicagoBears.com. The play of the week is Knox's 35 yard catch and run, what I thought was really interesting was the OLine's strong performance on the play, Thayer singles out JMarcus Webb, but more importantly Hester flattens a linebacker blocking for Knox! Maybe that is what this coaching staff expects and if they do not get it, players sit! Really impressive stuff from Hester on the play, not to mention the Cutler throw and Knox catch and run. I think there is alot to look forward to this year from the offence.
  4. I would argue that a Bears football player could garner more media attention than a mayor.... He has a consistently poor attitude with the press and is surly in general, and all of the above. Everyone has a right to their opinion, to me, the fact that he is so talented and could have done so much more to represent the Bears makes his lackluster overall character more of a disappointment. Before a good last three games, what has he done for the last couple of years? What would his trade value be? I bet no one would want to pay him what he makes, much less give up a draft pick and have to pay him. That is enough for me on the topic, I know what other's opinions are, mine will stay the same regardless.
  5. Yep, someone like you might be able to give a better view of his play this year, although I don't think I am really arguing that. To me, the Bears represent Chicago. So when I see a member of the team, especially a prominent member, act like an ass in public that does bother me. I would personally be quite happy to have guys who have character and a bit less talent, even if that meant winning less.
  6. It is always easy to start calling name on the net, I won't stoop to that level and would encourage you to do the same. I have watched quite a few games over the past 5 years, and also value the information that I read from reputable sources, and I would agree Url was quite special up until about three or four years ago but since then has been average in the main and I know this is mainly due to injury. Part of the reason I am as critical as I am of Urlacher is because of his talent and the potential he had to be the spokesperson for the team and the city. What he did instead was behave off-field in a very immature way and basically make a fool of himself. And sorry, if you want to play in the NFL and make the money then your going to get media attention, many other players manage just fine. I happen to value character more than some and would like players to behave like they are adults rather than perennial teenagers.
  7. I did not notice much of a dropoff with HH in there last year. When Url is 100% or close he makes a difference, but not that much IMO.
  8. If that was the case Ditka would still be coaching. I don't think Mike S is all that smart. I get the impression he has some very basic beliefs about issues such as work ethic and respect, but may not have the sophistication to deal with the complexity of coaching an NFL team....time will tell. If fire and passion were the key, most of us on this board would be coaches.
  9. You are likely correct, I would argue that Jamar Williams, gone now, or Nick Roach when healthy, could pretty much do what Url does, maybe 90%. If we have a chance to actually see it could be interesting.
  10. I have to admit not being able to see last nights game...damn it. But, from what I have read and the action I have been able to see this year, the Dallas game, I would say that there are guys starting on most NFL teams who could do about 90% of what Url does for us, and Pro Bowl level guys could likely do more, especially over the whole season. Let's see how he does through the whole schedule. Surely not HOF caliber? I find it hard to believe he is playing that well.... As I have said, I readily admit I find the guy lacking in class completely, so really do not care for him. I would prefer having guys who had character and maybe a bit less talent. That is just me, and is a portion of my thoughts about Urlacher, in addition to his mediocrity the last couple of years.
  11. The Devin A situation is looking like the typical scapegoat smelling issues ALA Corey Graham. I hope they will not now decide to just give up on him.
  12. I am a critic of Urlacher and am willing to eat a slight bit of crow...he has looked good so far this year. That being said, he has not done much the last 2 years and I still don't like his character.....hence the only small portion of crow, thank you. I honestly don't think we would lose that much putting any one of a number of guys in there in his place.
  13. I want the Bears to win now the same amount that I would whether the 85 team ever existed or not. That being said, the memories of watching that team during the 85 season was awesome and I will always treasure the memories. They were a phenomenon, much more exciting than the typical Super Bowl winner in many ways.
  14. If I were able to make it I absolutely would go. I feel no need to "let it go," that was a great team with great personalities and I would love to hear the stories.

    Fun!

I agree whole-heartedly, the defence was definitely a unit and worked together to make the sum of it's parts so devastating. I agree Url would have been a heck of a LB in that scheme....but I think any of that era LB's would have been great in this day and age too.

    Fun!

Excellent point, I would have to rate Butkus as my fav LB of all time.....

    Fun!

I agree with ranking Singletary and company first, but I think the jury is still out on who comes second....Holdman and Colvin were a very solid duo with Url. That being said, neither group is close to Singletary, Wilson, and Marshall. That was an all-time greatest type group that was together for several years, won a Super Bowl, multiple All-Pro's, etc...

    Fun!

OH NO, YOU DID NOT SAY THAT!!!!!!! The current group is a different sort, more athletic runner types overall, and are quite good. But they do not lay the wood anything like the classic old lineup of 55, 58, and 50. No way.
  19. Bears WIN!!!! Absolutely awesome....amazing what good coaching, i.e. Martz, can do for you when you have some quality players. Great game, I really hand it to Tice, Martz, and Marinelli. We did not get outcoached today!
  20. Tillman is a class act and a true Bear, I hope he retires wth the Bears....
  21. Absolutely right, we need all our draft picks over the next 2 years...
  22. First of all, have you considered that the players say they love him because if they don't they will get a quick ride out of town, ala RW McQuarters and many other players that were decent players and should have stayed Bears but dared to disagree with the Cover 2 guru Lovie? Secondly, have you considered that maybe the players love him because he doesn't make them work very hard? Just possibilities....I favour the former but both could be true....
  23. Having not seen it, from the furor here I assumed that it was quite a close call. This is not the first person I have read since saying it was not a close call, it was clearly an incomplete pass....
  24. Aromashadu can't run? Any comments from those who watched the game?
  25. That would be another appropriate option, but bladdered is considered the more excessive term methinks...
