  1. He was bad, bad, bad.
  2. Total bummer. Jags had been making a lot of good moves. Hopefully Fowler gets better quick and can recover and be the player the Jags thought he could be.
  3. I'm okay with it (as long as we are talking too tired vs. hurt)...lets them know that the NFL is a big step up from college. Good learning lesson for them.
  4. I wouldn't give Stein the credit, except for the fact that we operated this way even before the most recent CBA which for all intents and purposes put an end to rookie holdouts. It wasn't that long ago where you would consistently see top picks holding out and / or going down to the absolute wire. The new slotting system makes that go away but pre-slotting system Stein was as shrewd as it got and was always ahead of the 8 ball in terms of getting our guys signed and in camp.
  5. Solid move. Hopefully Collins supplements him shortly
  6. I'll be pulling for him too...if for no other reason that when the Bears make the superbowl with him as the safety and the game is played in san Diego...I will send you a PM and expect some family tickets...don't worry...your beer and food is on me!!!
  7. And when you look at the good defenses around the league, they don't have one pro bowler, they have multiple pro bowler / impact guys. Scheme can only do so much. Cracker, I like your charity idea, only thing I don't like is betting against a Bears defense good (I'm an optimist and I like to root for me to be right...that said, charity, so everyone is a winner ultimately. I'll do $50.
  8. No. Risk of us losing a top 10 or 15 pick, given our current roster, is far too great, to get a guy who was a mid to late 1st round tackle (in what was a relatively weak high end olinemen draft). I would do a 3rd no doubt and would probably do a 2nd as well (presuming I had a 1st round grade on him).
  9. I predict we will be closer to the back of the teens or even front end of the early 20's vs. the front of the teens.
  10. I will point out the Ravens aren't exactly a franchise known for getting rid of playmakers. McPhee has had injury issues and has never been a full down player. I like McPhee and thought it was a nice move with some upside but I can't call a guy a playmaker when he hasn't been that. Brian Urlacher...playmaker, Lance Briggs (in prime)...playmaker, Julius Peppers...playmaker, Peanut Tillman...playmaker. I compare our prime Bears defenses under Lovie and the playmakers we had to this squad and well, you can see the difference between a top 5 unit and what we have. And if it wasn't Peppers, it was Tommie Harris on the dline (in his short-lived prime). This D has zero players who meet the very definition of playmaker at this moment and like I said, Fuller is the one guy with some upside to do it.
  11. I don't think they can be much, if at all better then league average. Yes, that is a step forward, but anything more than that is probably not going to happen, for the reasons I mentioned earlier (lack of real playmakers, etc).
  12. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000049...le-for-16-draft Question is, who will get him and who has the contacts to sell him on their franchise (as teams are extremely limited in what they can offer UDFA's). This of course is all pending the police investigation but if he is fully exonerated, I presume all 32 teams will be in an all out battle for a cheap, cost controlled last 1st round pick (from a value perspective). Clearly he'd be a fantastic fit on the Bears (and would probably start day 1 to be frank...he's better than Mills).
  13. The D lacks playmakers though and that is something we'll have to address next year (maybe one develops although I don't see many guys with the type of talent level to turn into a playmaker. Should have more solid players though which helps. Maybe Fuller will show he is that guy or McPhee is a total boss with more snaps, but otherwise, don't see anyone else from a pure playmaking perspective. I do like McDonald and Freeman but again, I wouldn't refer to either as "playmaker's", however they will be playing some pretty important positions.
  14. Agreed; This is a really nice fit / pick.
  15. Yep; Fits a major need in the 3-4 defense and seems to have the right skill sets. I wouldn't have wanted Shelton that early and this works out nicely.
  16. Good pick. No complaints there. Still would have liked Gregory and taken the risk but I understand. I also just heard he weighed in at like 218 or something absurdly low.
  17. At least let it be a lemon tart or something.
  18. No; I think La'el would be a fantastic value pick and worth the risk in the 3rd. I say this because he tried to do the right things subsequent. Asked NFL to pull him from this draft so he can be in the supplemental and is now telling teams if you don't draft him today, he will sit out and re-enter draft. Why, because he is extremely confident in his innocence and the fact that everything will be very clear after he meets w/police on Monday (and after that, he will go back to being a #1 pick vs. potentially not getting drafted). You do run the risk that he somehow did it and there are other skeletons, but if I were the Bears I'd have had all of the top PI's looking into his background the past week or two (if they didn't already have pretty extensive reports) to figure out what is going on and where things stand. If he truly was not involved and that is relatively obvious, than go ahead and make the pick.
  19. @ZachZaidman: #Bears WR Kevin White on meeting Jay Cutler today at Halas Hall: "I think he was very excited...I think we'll be alright." @adamjahns: New #Bears War Kevin White said Jay Cutler got him dinner reservations tonight in Chicago. @ZachZaidman: #Bears WR Kevin White on where his inner-drive and competitiveness come from: "I've always been overlooked." @ZachZaidman: #Bears WR Kevin White said he sent about 250 e-mails to major college programs to try to get a scholarship. "A lot of copy & paste," he said @ZachZaidman: #Bears WR Kevin White calls QB Jay Cutler "cool." @ZachZaidman: #Bears WR Kevin White on difference between Lackawanna and Chicago: "Oh my god! A lot different." @ZachZaidman: #Bears WR Kevin White on Jay Cutler: "He's the man in this city." He says Cutler arranged dinner reservations for him at a fancy restaurant.
  20. Lots of quotes from talent evaluators who say there was general consensus on him, from a pure talent perspective, being top 5 in this entire draft. In 2nd round, you take a guy like that as long as you think you have the right support system. ADHD, big freaking whoop. If that is all he as, it is an absurd overreaction. Pot is an issue for one reason, he could get suspended if he can't control himself.
  21. He was #2 on my list of defensive players behind Williams and think he'd be an exceptional value pick in round 2 (presuming the psych eval on him checks out). That said, I don't mind a little crazy on the line, as long as it isn't the get arrested crazy, haha.
  22. Per Aaron Lemming, Bears covet Gregory.
  23. Landon, Gregory (if he isn't clinically insane) or Fisher would be my preferences. Landon would be a really nice get. Really like the Utah corner as well.
  24. I like L. Collins, Fisher, Rowe, or Gregory.
