  1. This is fantastic. Schefty in on this too. @AdamSchefter 7m7 minutes ago John Fox’s deal to become Bears HC is “all but done,” per sources. @JasonPhilCole reported Thursday that Fox would be hired in Chicago.
  2. Collins at 7 would be a total joke. Collins isn't close to the best safety to come out of Bama in the Saban era and the safeties and secondary players who have came out of Bama have largely not lived up to their hype. Saban has a great reputation of protecting his guys and just look at all the big plays Bama gave up anyway and a lot of those happened in direction of Collins.
  3. Not so fast. He is staying. Evidently Tedd Ginn Sr. did a lot of convincing.
  4. Exactly. I think in-person stuff can be critical.
  5. B&B just said "they (the Bears) are already at the point where they are trying to get something (talking about a press conferenced) together". B&B went on to say press conference is either Friday or Tuesday (w/MLK being on Monday). B&B further said Fox is in Denver working on assembling his staff (presumably talking to some of the current Denver assistants).
  6. I'm sure after the Mcginnis incident, the Bears are extremely conservative when it comes to announcing anything too. They want that contract signed before they announce anything.
  7. Would appear he isn't interested in Atlanta. It would make sense too, given the fact that a vet coach probably knows better than to take a job where the GM's job isn't exactly safe.
  8. DaBearsBlog @dabearsblog Source tells me Kyle Shanahan has told multiple people he expects to be Bears offensive coordinator this year & is eager to work w/Cutler.
  9. Probably because Fox has not yet agreed or they are still ironing out specifics in the contract?
  10. Stephen Paea ‏@PAEA92 42s43 seconds ago What did the Fox Say...????? #JohnFox #BearDown
  11. Reportedly Going pro. He has been told he could potentially be the 3rd QB off the board. Official announcement is going to be made at 3.
  12. Gregory is probably my top choice today (outside of Winston falling to us at 7). I am probably most in favor of a trade down though. I am also wide open to the idea of the top LT as well. No desire in a wideout at 7 and not sure if a LB that is worthy will be there either. I also don't think there is a safety on the board worthy of being selected top 10 (however, if you move down in the 1st, safety moves higher on my list of potential picks).
  13. Still not official yet. This is based upon one text message that Jason Cole of Bleacherreport received from an NFL exec. Once Jay Glazer, Fox's close friend, confirms, than I think we know it is a done deal.
  14. Moon Mullin has also reported that the job is Fox's if he wants it.
  15. @AaronLemingNFL: I've spoke with 2 separate outlets on the matter & 1 says Fox has it & other says they are waiting to have final interviews w/ Fox & Quinn
  16. Schefter and a few others reported that he was reportedly going to tell the Bears he intended to have K Shanahan as his OC (also their was a trip article by someone indicating something similar). I don't know any previous connection to Kyle so presume it is more related to Fox doing his own homework on Kyle. That said, John Clayton later reported (when Gase didn't get the Niners job) that Gase could potentially become the OC in Chicago. I have speculated that Maronne (who has now interviewed for an OC job in Jacksonville) could be another option as well.
  17. At this point, I presume all of this is postering for some extra cash or years or a need to not just say yes right away. Its happening people!
  18. Supposedly he is headed back to Denver with a contract on the table.
  19. John Fox's interview has reportedly ended and he has left halas hall (per Jeff Dickerson). Hopefully Fox is getting dressed before they grab dinner and celebrate!
  20. Look I don't disagree that Culter wasn't a horrific fit for Trestman's offense (Quick reads, short passes, etc is not what you would call Jay's skillset) but lets not act as if he didn't have success last year either (in fact last year Jay looked a lot better than Claussen). Claussen wasn't going to start and McCown's numbers would have been a lot more pedestrian if Alshon doesn't make a ton of circus catches anyway. It also doesn't excuse the fact that everyone knew what plays were coming. That has nothing to do with Jay and literally puts you behind the 8 ball to start (no matter who the heck your QB is).
  21. Mike Martz says that Gase is one of the 3 brightest offensive minds in the NFL. I think Martz knows offense and is a genius and I still wonder how we would have finished that year with Martz had Cutler not gotten hurt. That was the most fun I had watching any Bears offense. Unfortunately it didn't last and Cutler send him to the door. I'm taking Gase if given the choice, but think either are good choices, although I think Shanny has a higher likelihood of irritating people and getting canned in a year.
  22. It worked the year before with the person who had the "same name" that won't be mentioned. I think it had a lot more to do with the league getting film on our offense and us not being able to make the necessary adjustments. When you listen to experts talk about the amount of study and time spent watching film (especially in this new era with tech feeds and the additional angles and everything that is available) and they talk about how much smarter opposing teams defenses are today vs. years past (and vice versa with offenses being smarter too). I think it is more that when Trestman was last calling plays in the league, you didn't have near as much film study (coaches did it, but not near as much where you have players doing it, etc...it used to be coaches and the QB who watched film...now a hell of a lot of players are in the film room all the time and watching film from their couch on the ipad where they can view multiple angles, etc.
  23. You said it far more eloquently than I did.
  24. We couldn't figure out how to beat a zone defense. The idea of bringing Trestman back is laughable. Everyone in the league knew what plays we were running. What Trestman did worked 10+ years ago but doesn't work today. I'm not saying the overall system didn't work but the way we ran it and the predicability of the play calling was a complete and utter disaster (let alone the leadership qualities). If I was another team, I wouldn't mind hiring as an OC because I think their are a lot worse OC's out there but I wouldn't bring him back in a million years. Not to mention the fact that outside of a couple people, I don't think many people respect Trest so him doing anything in here would stupid for him to ever consider because he'd already be at a disadvantage.
  25. Really you want the OC who was a disaster at Nebraska, is notoriously difficult to work with, runs a similar system (and who replaced Trestman in Oakland), and the guy who when we had playcalling duties removed this year in Dallas (only to see the Cowboys focus on the running game with Linehan calling plays and that was a large reason for why Dallas actually won this year). To be frank, that sounds like a horrendous hire as an OC.
