Career record around .500. Also has a career QB rating of 82. Very very solid player. Not great but he's a really solid backup. Bears would have been in the playoffs if we had him last year.
Sounds like the Bears are likely out on Williams. I figure we'll instead see them sign 2 good players to join Marshall.
Also a lot of talk about the Texans clearing some more room and making a run to keep him.
Agree. I think Carr & Wimbley is more likely. I think the Bears will than focus on the line + LB in the draft. I could be wrong though. They still might look at wideout.
I'd be fine with Wimbley or a solid DE plus a CB. The Marshall move puts the Bears in a real nice place, including the fact that they no longer have to go one way vs. another in the draft. Curious to see what happens.
His average cap number is about 9.4M. That will be at least 2M under what Vjax will come in at. Latest reports I've seen, indicate Bears now have approximately 15M to 17M in cap space remaining (including Forte).
Note: I'm not sure what the overall impact is cause there could be certain components about his contract which would potentially adjust/impact what his cap hit to the Bears is.
Smart move. They need help at CB but with Bowman and him FA's, you need to at least bring one of them back. I expect them to potentially look at a veteran signing and possibly even a draft pick.
And other reports in chicago have reported completely different amounts recently. PFT has its info just as other people have there's. I have seen the detail supporting the other numbers and believe the PFT numbers are incorrect and I think the signings the Bears make will support such.
I don't think Briggs will be cut. Worse case the Bears deal him for a 3rd round pick. I still think Briggs will be a Bear another few years and that Peppers, Urlacher, and if it happens, Williams, can find a way to make Briggs happy.
They still need to execute on those moves and than obviously execute in the draft and on the field! I'm trying to keep my expectations low so I don't get crushed. Even if the Bears miss out on both of these guys, there is a lot of good signings that can be made to improve this team.
I'm going to listen to the reports that include the rollover cap room and the recent cuts. It has widely been reported that we have 26M in cap room (after taking into account Forte's franchise hit). Not factoring Forte, it is around 34M.
I don't disagree, but you still have a 1st round draft pick. There have been a lot of reports saying Wayne isn't necessarily a package deal with Manning though. He might go but he very well might not.
On a sidenote, the cap number being thrown around by most of the media guys:
Vjax - 11 to 13M
Mario - 14 to 15M.
Wanted to put that out there. Bears currently are about $26M under the cap (this is factoring in the Forte's franchise hit).
Who is to say that rumor is even true. I think the Bears are going to add a pass rusher but I fully expect them to add a wideout as well. If it is a lesser wideout (anyone not named Colston/Vjax), I than expect them to draft one in the 1st or 2nd round.
