  1. I'm going Williams. I'd rather pay the extra few million for a guy that I believe is an elite end. Just my 2 cents. Plus, I think it makes our defense that much better and should help us when it comes to going against the Lions/Packers pass attacks.
  2. Ya. I didn't realize they had 30M in cap room. It is too bad that they gave Fitz all that money. They would have been a great fit for Manning to be honest.
  3. The Bills will make a run at Vjax supposedly.
  4. Mully & Hanley indicated Lovie & Peppers were talking with Vjax in Texas. No idea why Vjax is in Texas. I assume that would be where Williams is.
  5. John Clayton reporting that Atl and Sea are now Williams favorites.
  6. I haven't heard that but damn, that would be pretty cool. I wonder if other players on the Bears would be willing to tweak their deals for something like this to happen?
  7. If 11-13M per year is what Vjax is going to get. Than I'll pay the 15M a year that Williams will get. To me, the other 2M to get a guy who is one of the most talented DE's in football is worth it. I could be wrong though.
  8. Cole is reporting that Vincent Jackson has narrowed his choice to the Bears & Bucs. Take it for what it is worth. Note: I personally put little validity into these type of leaks because I assume they have to be coming from the players and their reps and they probably want to throw a few teams out there to push/drive the market. I have to believe Emery has kept his free agent plans very close to the vest given the way he plans on running the Bears (e.g., secretively).
  9. I'll take Williams over Vjax. Especially since the money won't be significantly different between the two. I still believe if the Bears go big on one player, they will still have money to make another couple quality smaller signings.
  10. I'll believe it when I see it, but I'd crap my pants if it happened.
  11. Bears also have a few more million in cap room (1.6M or so is what is reported as a result of this move). So now they fall into the 32M range (including rollover). This includes the cuts of Adams/Omilaye.
  12. From what I've heard from some people in the Chargers org, it is all about the money. He'll maybe take a little less (like a few hundred grand) to play for a contender but other than that, he wants "money money money".
  13. Browns are still a possibility as are the Chargers.
  14. Apparently, Wimbley was the Bears top target in 2011 FA. However, he was resigned by the Raiders prior to the Bears getting a chance. This is pure McClure and the speculation is the Bears will be high on him again this year. They think he's the perfect compliment opposite Peppers. Probably will cost between 5-7M a year. I know we've talked about him a lot but I figure at this point, he deserves his own thread. I assume he will be release by the Raiders shortly!
  15. If he's gone, Bears will be signing someone else (or drafting someone). To me it just doesn't make sense but oh well. I like Bell but Barber is a great fit as the short yardage guy behind Forte.
  16. Bears were interested in him last year but the injury issues scared them away. Those same issues are still there but for the right price he might be a good depth signing that could turn into a home-run move.
  17. Phenemonal news. Redskins were going to spend a lot of money. They will still have about 15M in cap room after they split it between 2012 & 2013 but that is half what they expected.
  18. Freeney is a nice signing if the Bears spend there money on other areas and Freeney is cut.
  19. I think Freeney would be a good pick-up. However, I don't see anyone in the world who would trade for him given the cap impact of a deal. The Colts are either going to have to cut him or keep him cause if those cap numbers are right no team in there right minds will make a deal for him.
  20. Landry is a talented dude. Production hasn't always matched that talent but I'd be okay with him at the right price.
  21. I'd much rather throw a lot of money at Mario.
  22. From what I've been told, Vjax has a 9M offer on the table from the Chargers. He does not expect Chargers to go more than that and he wants to be paid like a top 5 wideout. He is expecting to get a deal that pays him somewhere between 11 & 13M per year. Note: I said expecting. Doesn't mean it will happen. Either way the dude wants to be paid.
  23. I agree with those that indicate we'd be better off keeping Davis or signing Carlson. I'm okay with Clark but I wouldn't not resign Davis because the club had Clark and I don't think I'd pay big money for Dallas. He's older and slowing down as a result of injuries.
  24. Google Finnegan. The guy is tremendous off the field and has done numerous outstanding things for the community. I personally am in agreement with you Balta that his physical presence would be a significant upgrade to the secondary and would fit in nicely with the style of football the Bears play.
  25. It is 3 1st's, however, St. Louis is giving up 1 first, so in net, it is 2 additional 1st (plus moving down a few spots) and a 2nd.
