  1. Sure he could improve. Anything is possible but the stats say he wasn’t even top 15 this year - reality was he produced in bottom 1/3rd of the league as a qb. Could he improve to 10-15 sure…get into top 10, I wouldn’t bet it but I’m not saying impossible…but 3 years is a ton of data and there isn’t a long track record of someone performing like he has ever becoming anything worth handing a 40M plus per year contract to. Only reason I even say it is possible is because he is such a great leader but man he is just so freaking bad at reading nfl defenses.
  2. I don’t think a rookie will be better than Fields, but I think by year two they will be better than what Justin has produced the last 3 years (at least if they are solid - no guarantee but Fields is mediocre, I’m not sticking with mediocre at this position).
  3. You know what - if Justin fields had a year where he did what Stroud, Herbert or Hurts did at their peak and than they looked like Fields, maybe I would have a different take, but all of them are light years better than Justin in real on field production. Justin wins or ties Herbert if it came to pure physical tools - but on field no comparison between Fields and everyone else you list.
  4. We are in same boat. Fields is just a guy. So my worry is they waste two more years, make a wild card or two and than are at a cross roads / pay Justin 40M plus per year or find a new qb at that point but when you are now looking you have a wild card pick and basically no way to go get a real upgrade without mortgaging the future and setting franchise back (or you pay Fields and a mediocre qb at 40M…well look no further than the NY football Giants).
  5. I only think that if they go with Roman - as I really think he's a fit for Field(s). But in general - I agree with you. The Bears will be done with their OC search long before they have finished up their analysis of all the draft prospects. So with that in mind - I don't think the OC will have much say in what the Bears are going to do in terms of staying or moving on from Fields.
  6. He hasn't said any of that. Some random twitter person said it. The person who said it just made it up. This is a kid who played at OU and USC. Those are two programs where you are under intense scrutiny. No where has anything ever came out that said anything other than he works his tail off and is a solid lockeroom guy. But some random on twitter who paid 8 bucks for a verification who has a history of making up everything (its a parody account) says something and now it is all out there. Bears need to do their diligence everywhere on him, period.
  7. Was just coming on to post the same. Roman has to be a if we stick with Fields candidate. I don’t think I want him if they draft a new qb but if they stuck with Fields he would be my #1 choice.
  8. I am so excited. Have the Bears ever selected a qb at #1 overall? And to have a prospect like Caleb there. Not saying I guarantee success but I am so excited about the possibility. Having the 9th pick overall as well and cap space plus a qb who they can trade for value. Only thing limiting my excitement is fact we don’t know who the oc is. It still baffles me when you have #1 pick that they don’t fully restart with an offensive minded HC. With that said, there are some solid and experienced oc candidates available.
  9. Him and Mahomes only two players in FCS history with 10 games with at least 5tds.
  10. Large survey out there of nfl scouts and front office people - pretty much unanimous he is the #1 pick. Bears either trade or will take him. Very clear where he fits.
  11. Caleb officially enters the draft. For the record Stroud waited until final day last year and I think I read Justin Fields also announced on final day a couple years back.
  12. Because better options are out there. I guess I go back to - poles made a choice. He also traded for Claypool and thankfully he said this isn’t working and adjusted his plan. With Flus, if a major upgrade is there - you go get it. That is how you build greatness.
  13. It bugs me that Harbaugh is interested in going to NFL and Bears didn’t roll up the brinx trick for him.
  14. Maybe that Packers loss wasn’t as bad as I originally thought. Love does a great job taking the easy play. You can see his comfort in the offense and ability to go through reads. He isn’t crazy talented - but good talent and he is comfortable. Sitting him clearly benefited him. Allows him to not create/have to overcome bad habits from being rushed.
  15. Or Stroud made those guys better than they were. Mooney and Moore and Kmet are the 3 most productive players career wise (along with Robert Woods). Stroud is legit and made his guys better. Not knocking his guys either. And I would be first to say Bears need to upgrade receiver room.
  16. This I agree with. Warren was talking so much about Minny and Rams where they stuck it out. I actually wondered whether opposite was true - Poles wanted to move on and Warren thought stay the course. Warren seemed pretty pro stability.
  17. I think when Poles decided to keep Flus, he attached himself to Flus. I wouldn’t have done it but I hope he is right. If flus sucks next year and bears stink - Poles is gone and won’t get a chance to hire a 2nd coach. All that said - I really don’t think they will stink, but I do expect some challenges as I expect a rookie qb.
  18. Everflus is good at calling plays. He did say in press conference he might give it back up - but I think he is looking for someone to help game plan and get the gig and maybe over time they call the plays. The defense did nothing but improve week in / week out once Flus took over and he was excellent calling plays for years with Colts. As long as he finds a legit OC who than brings in quality teachers, that works. I think the defense will be just fine as long as we draft well and work on upgrading dline. Flus has shown an ability to develop and call plays.
  19. Did they let him go? Or is he leaving for another opportunity?
  20. I don’t think highly of Olsen or Cohen. Olsen is kind of a loser OC…long track record and solid coach but nothing special and has gotten a short run any time he has been an oc.
  21. Waldron, Reich or Kubiak for me. I still think Reich is kind of a no brainer, Waldron is solid, Kubiak is the upside hire but I think there is more downside/risk there.
  22. Hillarious - great story and great neighbor.
  23. The inverse is - did Cunningham release any intel on the Bears thought(s). Could go both ways.
  24. You mention Joe Burrow - I think we sometimes have revisionist history of drafts. Joe Burrow had legitimate concerns coming out. He basically had 1 explosive year in the pro's. He took a massive jump forward from his Jr. season to Sr. season. Doubled passing stats, etc. In some ways -the more comparable player to Burrow is Daniels (coincidentally from the same school). Only difference is Daniels couldn't overcome just how bad his team defense was.
  25. If this is true this will just upset me like no other. However, I don't think any reputable reporter has reported it. I have no idea who this Steinberg guy is? Caleb has said he was debating going pro or not. There are also a number of tweets of him liking tweets talking about him being paired up with DJ Moore, etc, and how he'd like good in Chicago. Tweet(s) are tweets.
