  1. Evidently Rogers has a few OC offers potentially on the table from the college ranks. I doubt he'll wait long on the Bears. If the Bears don't offer him something quickly, he'll probably jump at the college offers. I think this Cignetti guy will be who we hire.
  2. He currently works for Wanny but has a pretty good resume. Moon indicated that he might be one of the guys the Bears first targeted and are most interested in. I'll be interested to see what happens. I like his resume and his history of developing some pretty sucessful QB's (both in college and the pro's).
  3. I'm over it. I've gotten past getting excited or anything. I hope we end up finding someone but there is no other way than a total failure that I can perceive the search and how it was handled.
  4. Tice and Marinelli will be our OC and DC.
  5. Wait, what is wrong with the Ravens QB coach. He's done a phenomenal job with a young QB in Flacco. And the Ravens offense is no longer the laughing stock in the league that it once was. I don't see how this is a bad thing. Ravens have a pretty well balanced offense now, in fact, people were ripping on there defense for a chunk of the season (until it got healthy).
  6. Interesting how Lovie will be here interviewing instead of scouting at the Senior bowl. That has me concerned because I think it is important for our head coach to be at the senior bowl watching guys play, especially since at the very least a handful of these guys will be available when we pick in the 3rd round and later.
  7. It is now official. Bears received permission, have talked to Jackson, and he is flying out today/tonight and will interview with Lovie Smith and the team tomorrow. The Raiders have evidently already offered Jackson a position on there staff (who knows which position). I can't imagine any jackass would take a spot with the Raiders over a spot with the Bears given that they still haven't 100% decided who their head coach is.
  8. He's done great things for Joe Flacco and the Ravens offense has gotten better. Below is some stuff I dug up on Jackson. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hue_Jackson - Has been an offensive coordinator in the NFL (2007 with the Falcons and 2003 with Redskins) - Prior to getting that position, he was the Bengals highly regarded Wide-Receiving Coach (who helped developed Ocho Cinco, Henry, and Houshyourmama). - Before the Bengals, he worked as an Oline coach and OC with the Redskins Seems like a pretty solid hire. My only concern would be how he kept OC positions for such a short period of time, but you could also argue that he never really got a shot. In 2007, the Falcons lost Vick (that was his 1st season gone) so he really didn't have much to work with. Plus the Falcons had Petrino at the start of the year but he left 13 games into the season. Basically put, Jackson had no chance to succeed in 07. In 2003, the Redskins had Patrick Ramsey at QB for 11 games and Hasselbach there for 5 games. Trung Candidate was there #1 RB. Basically put the team had nothing on offense (outside of a young Laverneus Coles). So again, I'd argue he had very little to work with.
  9. Ya, it brought up the offensive question-marks as well, but if we wonder why he isn't coming it is because our hired guns didn't think he was worthy. Whether they are the proper people to judge offensive talent, thats a whole other story, imo. The Bears might have asked him questions and he might not have been prepared though (ie, not up to par with the Bears personell, etc). If I were to interview, I'd study the hell out of the team and come to them with suggestions during the interview. Chud may have he may not have, I don't know, but it sounds like he wasn't super impressive. Still, I would have hired him based upon his resume, but again, I don't know what he said in the interview. I also read that the Bears want to interview through guys a 1st time and than once they've identified a few candidates they will go back and do a 2nd round with them. Basically they are taking it slow because there aren't any slam dunk candidates out there (ie, Linehan/Mularkey's).
  10. Dickerson is saying that Chud essentially bombed the interview
  11. It sounds as if Chud just wasn't interested. He heard bad things about those running the organization from Turner/Rivera and because of it the Bears weren't able to entice him. I think the other point that hurt the Bears was the fact that Chud would have a hard time becoming the HC. If he rebuilt the offense, Lovie stays, if he didn't, he was gone.
  12. Why would Plank be qualified? I believe he was an assistant DB coach or something?
  13. It seems very likely that the Bears will make a run at Kampan. I think he could be a great pick-up. He struggled the past 2 years due to injury and the switch to the 3-4 but I think he'd excel back in a 4-3 set-up and would provide the Bears with an upgraded pass-rush.
  14. 5 Best Luckman Kramer McMahon Grossman Cutler Grossman is ahead of Cutler only because his one solid year (up and down) he led the team to the superbowl (or was part of that team). In two more years, Cutler will be #1. Jim Miller would be #6. 5 Favorites: Grossman Cutler - Cutler will soon pass Rexy Kramer McNown - Loved him at UCLA Kordell - Thought he would have been fun to watch, too bad he was done.
  15. I still say the Colts aren't that good. They don't have a great defense, have a mediocre rushing attack at best. They just have the best QB potentially ever. They haven't played anyone worth a damn this year and were in 7 games decided by 4 or less points. Colts would have lost to the Chargers or Vikings. Not sure if they will lose to the Saints cause the Saints D is not very good.
  16. I would prefer Callahan. Ravens OC doesn't excite me, especially since he was there when those offenses stuck. Cally runs a west coast offense and was a very good play-caller under Gruden in Oakland.
  17. This one hurts a bit. He seemed like such a good candidate. I wonder if we will eventually go with Martz.
  18. The 3-4 is more hyped than the Cover 2 and with so few true nose-tackles in the league you'll see that most teams won't be able to run it enough to truly excel. In short, I do not want us switching to the 3-4. However, that article made a lot of sense and I agree if we made those moves we'd have the personell and a nose-tackle that would allow us to run the 3-4.
  19. Remember, We had zero back-ups. Kevin Jones was already out and the Bears don't feel that Wolfe could carry the bulk of the load. The coaches had no other option than to have Forte gut it out if they could.
  20. The only way we could move up that far is if some team was really in love with Briggs and something else. And I would not trade Briggs for Dez Bryant.
  21. I believe he runs a variation of the West Coast.
  22. He got a ringing endorsement from a damn good coach (Shotty) http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...chudzinski.html
  23. Jamarcus doesn't even care and it is pretty well documented up in Oakland. He puts in little effort and that is why he stinks. Hackett would be a very nice hire, imo. It would be a safer hire too and I love what I've been seeing from Rich Gannon. Really makes a ton of sense.
  24. Couldn't disagree with you more. Bradford and Claussen top my list. Both have strong, accurate arms, and can make the throws. McCoy is a tough pick because I don't know if he'll have all of the skills necessary to excel in the NFL but his speed and intangibles make him intriguing.
  25. Prior to this season I believe we were one of the better defenses at stopping the 3rd and long. Now I realize we absolutely sucked at it this year but one of the strengths of the cover 2 is the ability to shut-down and prevent teams from getting big-yardage. This season we unfortunately just didn't have the personnel or the right play-calling in 3rd down (Urlacher not being there hurt a lot cause none of our other LB's are as good as he is in pass-coverage). But that is why Lovie is no longer calling the plays. I do think people would be surprise to see how little we use the Cover 2 the problem is we just didn't get a pass rush and had mediocre players to be honest. The Cover 2 still works, you just have to be creative with it and have good personnel.
