  1. I think the safety is coming. Rolle was just commanding ridiculous money so they had to go another route. Clark or Atogne would both be excellent upgrades. I think we'll end up landing Clark (or whatever the hell the Steelers safety's name is.
  2. Clark isn't expensive so I just don't see why we'd get rid of him. He's productive (when healthy) and to me the only reason you move him is if you are doing it to give him a better opportunity to get playing time. I got a feeling the real reason he didn't get a call back is because our front office is more concerned with getting Peppers/Taylor/etc taken care of.
  3. This is it. I do have to give mgmt credit for going out and getting Cutler and Peppers in a 2 year span. Pretty incredible if you ask me. I also think there is a case that the Bears aren't done, but the next moves come after they free up some more money via trades (ie, Olsen or Harris or whomever moving for picks).
  4. Taylor hasn't taken huge hits so I don't see why he wouldn't be a productive back. This is a huge move and gives our offense so much more life. Look at most of the top teams in the league and they have 2 good backs and now we have that. And for the money we are paying this is a bargain. I really love how we took advantage of the un-capped year by front-loading the contract so that the long-term salary cap impacts are minimal.
  5. Olsen for draft picks makes sense. It makes the Bears a player in the draft (and its always good to have picks) plus allows the Bears to potentially be a player for one of the wide-outs that becomes available. If Boldin can be had for a 3rd rounder we might see something get done (if the Bears can get some picks back for Olsen). That is my best guess.
  6. Awesome!! Good price if you ask me.
  7. A former player of Peppers was quoted as saying Julius at 80% is better than 95% of the league. And he went on to say that Peppers wants to be great in a major city and that this former player actually think Peppers best years are ahead of him and that Chicago is the perfect fit since we let our DE's go after the QB and rarely drop them into coverage.
  8. We are talking with Clark. Is it really true, are we getting Taylor and Peppers!!
  9. This is a great move. He's a very good blocking TE that will help us in red-zone two TE sets. He also gives the Bears the flexibility to at least consider a deal involving Olsen.
  10. I just hope Shefter is right. If he is, we get Taylor and Peppers.
  11. Bears apparently were told what it would take to sign him and ultimately backed out to focus on Peppers/Taylor. If they can hit on those two, the Bears will than turn there attention to Atogwe and Rhodes. And I won't lie, either one of those guys would be a huge upgrade at safety. Right now, I want me some Peppers and badly!!!
  12. Nothing official, but Shefter believes that the Peppers and Taylor are close to done deals. I don't believe it until it happens though. But damn would those be two huge signings.
  13. This would be huge as it would allow the Bears to make an impact signing before FA begins. That means they can hit big early (prior to later this evening) before throwing all of there attention at Peppers. If they land those two, I expect them to be a bit more quiet and re-asses the landscape before jumping after a TE (if they choose to move Olsen) and there backup RB.
  14. Everyone is a spectator right now, 9 hours from opening of free agency. One source I trust said: "I expect the Bears to hit it big." source added: "This is it. There is no draft. They have to come out w/ 4 or 5 players. The #Bears will not be outbid. It's in their budget." All I can say is we haven't seen the #Bears, not under Jerry Angelo or anyone else, come out writing checks like that in free agency. So get your popcorn ready for tonight, or set your alarm. This will be interesting to watch. Can you imagine if they don't strike in FA?
  15. I thought that was interesting that we would have met with the agent. That seems really stupid if we tampered and get hit for that.
  16. I don't think the Bears are really that limited. Would the Bears want to openly say they have 50M sitting out there in funds prior to going out and negotiating with Peppers? Absolutely not. I think this is more of a negotiating ploy to basically let Peppers and his agent know that they can't just bend the Bears over.
  17. A 2nd round pick for Olsen would be more than fair and I think that would be a good move or at least one I could get behind.
  18. A top flight safety, pro bowl DE, solid olineman and quality backup RB would be a dream come true. I don't know if we'll get all of those, but I'm quietly excited about what free agency might bring.
  19. Glad to hear you and your family are ok Chile!! And hopefully the international helps comes quickly and the rescue effortrs go as smoothly as possible over there.
  20. I'd be really happy with Rolle/Peppers (Or Kapman) plus a good back-up running back (Taylor would be gravy).
  21. Westbrook would be a nice back-up though if he was healthy. The guy can still play and is multi-dimensional (catch and run).
