Master list of Bears FA Targets, Rumors, & Reports
Jets have pretty much cut ties with Braylon. So both Braylon and Roy are potential possibilities for the Bears, even though it sounds like they won't be making any major WR signings.
-
Willie Colon
New reports indicate Colon is a back-up plan. Bears are targeting the Saints tackle, Jermon Bushrod, whose a FA. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears%20

Rumor: Bears have agreed to terms with Brad Smith
Rumor on the ChicagoBears.com message boards is indicating that the Bears have agreed to terms with Brad Smith on a deal. Smith would act as a slot wideout and would provide the Bears with another special teams weapon. Additionally, he'd also provide an added threat out of the backfield in wildcat/trick plays.

Projection: Bears to be well under cap floor?
The hard part is some teams need to spend 60+ million. When you have all that available money that needs to be spent immediately in a CY, I won't be surprised when players get ridiculous contracts handed out to them as a result of all the teams needs to get above the floor.

Cullen Jenkins
The hard part is the Bears have a lot of valuable "depth" guys who will be free agents as well. This is going to be really interesting to see how quickly teams can pounce when FA starts.

Season Tickets and parking done
I think this thing is going to get done in the next couple weeks and by and large, the lockout will ultimately have had a very minor impact on the fans. But if it doesn't end, I'll be upset at both sides.

umm dead board?
Haha. I haven't been coming around as much since there is pretty much zero news. I guarantee activity picks back up once stuff starts to happen. NFL is such a long off-season and with a good chance of there being no football, its been an even longer off-season.

Cutler and Offense Will Practice In Next Week or Two
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=team...ts-2011-nfl-chi Thought this article was really good. Big talking point is that Cutler was quoted as saying the offensive side of the ball will be working with each other shortly. Basically that something is planned but he didn't get into specifics. Also has a ton of quotes related to the draft. Pretty solid off-season summary article in general.

Free agency-who?
I've always disagreed with you on this. Neither of those guys are a #1. Not to mention, it is becoming more an more evident that we are going to use Hester less as a wideout to make him more special as a return man. Basically I think we are going to look at using Hester in a limited number of offensive snaps and my hope is it actually makes him a more effective wide-out as well. Knox will never be a #1, imo, but he has a shot at being a #2 and Bennett is a steady slot receiver/3rd down target whom I like a lot. The thing is, nowhere on that list is a #1, so if you don't have that guy that can be a #1, you are instead pushing everyone into roles that to me, they just don't have the ability to succeed in and that isn't a good thing. Bears need a wideout, I just don't think that wideout is Rice. I'd go hard for Santonio Holmes. Seems like a great fit for the Martz system and would make our corps significantly better.

The draft is over
I think Martz problem with Hanie is his best talent is his mobility and ability to make plays when he scrambles. Hanie isn't known for his accuracy nor his strong arm and typically in a Martz system you are less mobile and more known for at the minimum, having a quick release and being able to throw accurate balls. Cutler isn't even a typical fit, except he does throw a pretty accurate ball, the thing is, he's also very mobile. His only issue is he isn't known for necessarily being content making quick reads.

WTF
Overreact much? I can't even consider your comments to be worthwhile when you are posting completely irrational crap. It is fine to dislike the picks, but you are completely overreacting and being sensationalist.

Chris Conte - 3rd Rounder
And outside of Wright, none of those guys were relatively high picks. Oh and didn't Chris Harris get drafted and make the pro bowl?
-
Chris Conte - 3rd Rounder
IT is a real good sign that the guy was a safety that could play in the pac 10. If you can play a little D in the pac 10 and hold up against the pass you are in good shape, especially since the Pac 10 has more NFL offenses than any conference in the country, imo (with the exception to Oregon).
-
Chris Conte - 3rd Rounder
Mike Mayock is raving about him. Said he was shooting up the draft boards and they talk about how he is just a big tackler and gets in the middle of everything. Was an OLB up until this past season. 1st team All American in the Pac 10 last year. And since I like Mayock, I'll support the player, not the need. Of course, we've needed safeties forever so its nice that we are finally addressing the position the past 2 drafts.

Chris Conte - 3rd Rounder
Bears draft a safety from Cal. Personally, I'm puzzled but my guess is we don't think Manning is coming back. I haven't heard any commentary yet on our pick. Still, I had other needs on our list that I would have opted for before taking this guy.

3rd Round Pick?
Your speil is getting old.
-
3rd Round Pick?
You know what, I"d be quite fine with Ballard. I know he had that drug test show up, but as a Hawkeye fan I have always thought Ballard was pretty underrated and that he'll be a solid starting DT.
-
3rd Round Pick?
Outside of the first two WR's, most of the WR's in this draft were extremely flawed. And DT and OT were far more pressing needs. I'm exstatic at what we did so far.
-
3rd Round Pick?
Hankerson is off the boards. Now I'm pretty convinced we go guard, DE or CB. And I'd be fine with any of those. Also, could opt to trade down to get that 4th back.
-
3rd Round Pick?
IF we got Hankerson on top of all this, wow, I'd be exstatic.
-
Paea it is!
He wasn't just a beast in the weight room. He was the defensive player of the year in the pac 10 and forced 8 fumbles in the last 2 years for a mediocre OSU team.
-
Paea it is!
The 4th rounder we were supposed to trade to Baltimore.
- Paea it is!

Austin gone...
Dang. I'm guessing when Austin went off the board, the Bears decided they had to get there DT and move up. Great move, this makes sense.
-
bears trade up
Here comes Paea or Hankerson, imo.
