  1. I want to know who the freak they were talking about so I have an idea on the position they were targeting. I got a feeling it was getting into the Jay Cutler talks.
  2. Absolutely, but I prefer Holt.
  3. He was absolutely horrendous in pass coverage, however, he's very talented and could be a better fit in the cover 2 defense. I'd take him over Payne, thats for sure.
  4. Honestly I feel a lot better, sounds like he realizes we don't have a #1 WR and he's going to try and address it. I hope that means he plans on adding a FA like Holt as well as a draft pick.
  5. If Holt becomes available and the Bears don't sign him I will be livid. He's been a 1000 yard machine any year where he had a QB to throw him the ball and this past year, St. Louis was an absolute disaster and his stats suffered from it. The guy would be the best WR the Bears have had since Moose (I know I know) and still has another 1 or 2 1000 yard seasons in him. Plus, bringing him in immediately takes pressure off Hester to be the guy and allows the Bears to really mold and develop there younger guys (and having a vet like Holt should help that process as well). You than use a first day pick on the WR you like and put him with Bennett and in time you hope at least one of the two WR's brought in this year and last year develop (if not both) and you have Davis as a 5th receiver/special teams player and than obviously have Clark/Olsen. I think in a matter of two moves, the Bears WR corps goes from being one of the worse in NFL history to one of the better receiving corps in the league (Top 15 at least and when you factor in our TE's and Forte all of a sudden your talking about an offense with weapons. Plus I think Holt is a very good compliment to Hester). Give him a 3 year deal with a big signing bonus (similar to the Moose deal in a sense). But the Bears have tons of cap space so money should not be a concern. I'd also of course go for Owens but I know that won't happen and I'd prefer Holt to Owens when you factor all things.
  6. Damn, you got me all excited that the Bears were bringing someone in. I wish Rex nothing but the best.
  7. This would be a no brainer. I would give up Orton and the 18th pick for Cutler.
  8. I wouldn't mind bringing SHarpre in here. I think he's a good fit as a cover 2 safety.
  9. I'd be quite happy signing iether of those guys.
  10. I could live with St. Clair and the FA signing, Williams and Beekman. It isn't bad, but the Bears would still need to try and pick up a tackle or a guard in the middle rounds of the draft, imo. I do think signing both would take away the immediate need to tackle a guy in RD 1.
  11. Personally, Andrews is the guy I want. I think he's the prototypical RT and injuries are really what slowed him down last year. He's not a pro bowler, but he's at a level just below, imo.
  12. Rex was classy and I wish him nothing but the best. I hope he doesn't go to the Vikings but aside from that I'll be cheering like hell anytime he plays anyone but the Bears. One of my personal favorites to wear a Bear uniform.
  13. Haynseworth is much much better than the Tommie Harris I've seen since his initial injury. Not too bummed about how much he got and Hall is a young, above average Cb. Again, not shocked that he got what he did. What shocked me was that not many teams were interested in picking him up after the Raiders waived him.
  14. If you sign Barnes to go with the recent FA pickup would you really need to address oline in the draft? You'd have Beekman, Williams, Barnes, and the FA all on the right side of 30, plus the sagy vet Kreutz.
  15. There are a few spots where he'd get to battle for a job and thats one of the spots I'd take. If Minny missed out on some guys he would fit in very nice there (Berrian likes him and would support him, plus he'd have a strong running game and a great line).
  16. This is a pretty good pickup which could turn into a total bargain. We knew what we had in a lot of these guys. Garza and St. Clair are mediocre and this guy is younger and versatile and at least mediocre and some experts thinks he has the potential to actually even turn into a solid left tackle (let alone a right tackle or a guard). This is a fantastic signing. I still will be livid if the team doesn't add a good FA vet WR plus a WR via the draft.
  17. Vikings have the money? I would love picking up Housh and in all honesty the Bears have the money to make the impact signing, but I actually think Holt is a better WR and better option.
  18. Hillarious. Glad to see he didn't get totally screwed.
  19. The Bears have tons of cap room. Giving a vet like Brooks a one year or two year deal with a little signing bonus would be chump change, especially since the Bears aren't expected to have to dish out any mega deals this yaer. There is no reason the Bears couldn't resign St. Clair (or sign a FA olineman) plus sign a WR like Holt/Coles, bring in a guy like Brooks and maybe sign a safety that gets cut. None of the above would screw up the long-term cap rammifications, nor would it prevent the Bears from giving a ton of money to orton if he proves himself this season like I hope he will.
  20. If it was possible to position it to where we could have Urlacher, Briggs, and Brooks all on the field at teh same time I'd be down. Galloway is a little old but still effective when healthy. I'd prefer Coles or Holt but Galloway gives us some nice speed and a deep threat but I don't know if he's the right fit with Orton running the show.
  21. If we don't get Coles or Holt, I'll be livid. Get one of them, trade down and take the best available wide-out in the early 2nd (hopefully Nicks). Otherwise if you can't trade down, target oline or LB in the 1st round (or Sanchez if he slides) and than grab the WR in the 2nd. Pencil in the FA signing, the 2nd round pick, Hester and Bennett and let the vet do some heavy teaching. It be the best WR corps the Bears have had in years.
  22. Hakeem and Robinskie to me grade out as a bit more sure things and I really think either could turn into 100 reception machines.
  23. Is Smith really going to fall that far? From being a potential #1 to sliding all the way out of the 1st round.
