  1. Robinson never really good separation - which is why I never thought he was worth the money. Pace misread a lot of things and should have traded Robinson a year ago when they both realized the difference in value each side had. They could have sold high on Arob. With that said - I'm not jumping to conclusions over Arob just yet as I still think he is a solid receiver (who has always relied on his pure skill vs. elite or even good athleticism) - but with his lack of separation - you can't pay him $20M a year.
  2. I hope you are right - and this is where - if Fields takes a big step forward, the team could surprise. With that said - I think they are still just a year too early and still are pretty devoid of splash/blue chippers.
  3. I think you are delusional on WR - Deebo is significantly better than Mooney; Aiyuk is way better than anything else we have too. I won't comment on there oline vs. our oline - but we have a lot of unproven so I would say they are better (they did a nice job protecting Jimmy G). And there Dline is not a push to the Bears. They have a top 3 dl and in general a top 5 defense so tehy are much better than the Bears. Bottom line - the only area I would give the bears much of a nod over the Niners is as at QB. The niners are a super bowl team, sans the uncertainty at QB. The Bears are not. QB can push things over and maybe our young players ascend super fast - but on paper it isn't even close.
  4. It has taken years to get to this point - but I pretty much see the same people on Sundays at my kids games these days - and I just blurt out - don't even think about it before saying hello. I also make sure to not wear any Bear gear until I'm at home on Sunday - so one one mistakenly sees me and shakes there head in solidarity (as in - boy did that game suck) or the high five (which always is a bit better - cause at least I know they won). My wife is usually the one who will spoil it - cause she can't not see - and will than make me nervous the whole game though. But nothing I can do about that - cause the upside is - she cares about the Bears
  5. Never - I will turn my phone off so I get zero updates. So as far as I'm concerned, I'm watching live cause I have no idea what is happening (its really the only way I can watch and get the same experience as if I were watching live).
  6. Very excited - even more so because my kids little league kicks back up this Sunday and I have Sunday Ticket stream, which is hard to do when the games conflict. So I know Sunday is nationally televised in my area so can do the nice record, turn off my phone - enjoy all the kids activities and than we can all sit down and relax and watch the game later in the day on our own time (and hopefully will find the game plenty entertaining and enjoyable :)).
  7. There will be another slight outage sometime today (not expected to be more than 30 minutes) and than likely another small outage on Saturday. This is for small clean-up stuff being done. Hopefully nothing takes longer than that - but there is always risk that it does.
  8. Kind of surprised there - are they really going to carry Harry when he isn't able to play.
  9. What theme are you using? I don't see it on the theme I am using. I'm just using the default.
  10. Let’s hope he has a lot of 3 TD 0 pick halves in his future
  11. Site work is now done. Let me know if anyone runs into any issues or noticed anything odd.
  12. Barring something unexpected - upgrade should happen on Sunday.
  13. Heads up that you might see the site have an outage before the season starts. Will be trying to get the board software updated to the latest version which will drive some downtime (hopefully minimal). Figure with new regime running the show - better get TalkBears ready to handle what will be the beginning of the first dominant era of Bear football since the mid 80's.
  14. Borom is likely swing tackle at this point - but Jenkins is making a play to take over as the starting guard. I think there is a chance he can end up as an excellent guard. Reiff is a clear starter - question is what does Borom show to eventually take his spot (vs. a draft pick or new FA signing in the offseason).
  15. Yeah - the bears are playing hard ball. I still say if I had a good offer, as much as I like Smith, I take the picks and move on.
  16. Platteville was my one and only training camp experience. I still remember it vividly - the year I was there we had Cade McNown entering year 2 and Marcus Robinson was coming off a monster season (where him and Cade seemed to connect late). Hopes were extremely high (somewhere in my closet I still have an autographed Cade McNown jersey from my time there). Would have been 15 or 16 years old and got there driving with my dad from my grandparents place in Iowa. Was so much fun.
  17. For me - I think one of the biggest keys to LT success for fields is going to be his ability to get the ball out fast. If he does that - one, he should stay healthier, and two that means he is getting better at reading the defense and more naturally balancing the immediate big play with the quick wins. He does that - I am pretty certain we will be talking about a guy (barring injury or something else) that will be revered in Chicago and potentially go down as the all time greatest Bear (I don't want to say all time greatest QB - cause that bar is so low :)).
  18. I am with you - these younger players all seem like they are extremely hungry and are pushing each other, which is great to see. I know 2022 will have its ups and downs (probably its fair share of downs) - but I think the way they are doing this and providing opportunities for young players and hitting a fresh restart while trying to build a unit around Fields will be huge...even if he has to live with less than ideal playmaking and line play for one more season (but hopefully they can scheme / design stuff to protect his health and put him in positions to not get ruined). My glass half full view is Fields takes a major step forward and covers a lot of the flaws and this team gets closer to .500 and than we are a team with massive cap space a trending QB, its full stock of picks and ideally other younger core players stepping up as well.
  19. I do think that early in the season - before Arob went out - it is probably true that Arob got more shade given his reputation and that even when he was back, he probably got a decent amount of attention (if for nothing else on reputation alone). But he missed a ton of games and by the end of the season teams could see he wasn't going to be there - so clearly defenses had zoned in on Mooney. The good thing about speed/quickness (combined with tight route running and solid hands) is - it can be really hard to contain. I also think Fields is very different than Trubisky. Trubisky would lean in on Robinson and make sure he would get the targets and trusted him a ton in tight coverage. Fields wasn't ready to throw guys open - but also likes throwing into space more (vs. the tight coverage) so he just had a lot more natural hesitation to give the same tight window throws to Robinson that Trubisky would and quite frankly Robinson made an entire career being a tight window wideout (his speed was pedestrian but he had made it up with strong footwork, route running, and hands. The question is how well will those skillsets age and when you are playing on bum legs (clearly something was off there) - than it gets really tough.
