  1. Phillips to retain his role; Owner responsible for hiring GM (not TED). GM will be in charge of football. This seems to imply we will see Bears hire GM -> than hire HC. Polian will partner with George on the GM hiring process. Note: Most good news - but this seems to mean no president of football ops coming.
  2. That was my thought - if the above was true - if anything it was a good sign of how they are thinking about it.
  3. The Chargers timeout forced the Raiders hand. What if Raiders ran shortly - Chargers call another time-out. Raiders now have to figure out - long field goal or punt and than the Chargers may pivot the other way. Either way - I really don't think the Raiders were going to kick a field goal from where they were. Too much risk of a block.
  4. I did read a report that Bears reportedly tried to lure Ozzie Newsome out of retirement for role with Bears (would have been amazing). They also evidently had reached out some feelers to Schneider (Seahawks front office) and the Steelers front office guy who is retiring. All 3 are obviously extremely experienced and big names - which maybe gives us some indication on what they are thinking. I will be curious to see if he mentions whether they will hire a president and a GM or just a GM too.
  5. I presume it will be pretty clear - we are going to move on at finding the best GM and HC for who we want, that George will be the person who handles this (with help of Polian and maybe others) and that the position will REPORT directly into him. I also expect he will give clarity around - he appreciates and respects Ted a ton and Ted's sole focus will be on the business side of football and the stadium (maybe he announces Ted will be retiring in future, but my guess he doesn't go there). I don't think he needs to say much - other than - I believe we have the franchise QB in Fields - but the interesting thing will be timing and how fast they move or don't move (do they get the HC and than find a GM who partners or will they go with the HC first).
  6. George will be having press conference at 11 (no Phillips there). Reports out there that the new GM position will report DIRECTLY to George. Also reports indicating Ted will remain in the org, but likely retiring in '23 (which I am perfectly content with giving the GM structural change (reporting to ownership) and George seemingly grabbing Bull by the horns this time.
  7. Both are good people and I wish them the best, but glad to see we are starting fresh. Now I want more - Ted needs to move out and solely focus on the other side while they bring in someone new to take over for him too:
  8. Well - Staley just called the dumbest time out in the history of sports there. He is now right next to Chris Weber.
  9. I think Bears actually tried to retain Staley but he wanted to go with Fangio where his loyalties were.
  10. Yeah - Johnson is good and other than that they had zero talent. He is a good, up and coming DC.
  11. The loss was nice in sense we get some earlier 2nd round picks and other rounds too.
  12. Jenkins looked good. Worst part of todays game was Borom getting torched in Q4. Like awful. But other than that - no injuries in final game. Let’s get to making changes and seeing the right moves made to change this franchise into a truly great franchise again!!!
  13. I am fine with Fangio the Dc, but Frazier, Quinn, and Todd Bowles are all much better head coach candidates (who posses strong defensive backgrounds). Desai is actually pretty good too - would be quite happy if next head coach ultimately decides to retain him.
  14. Yeah that was not good. The defense on the catch was actually good - just a good throw by Cousins but the non touch was not good. Glad Jackson was paying attention.
  15. Armstrong and Harbaugh…oh man would I be fired up!!!
  16. Personally - at this point - as much as I want to watch him play one more game, I actually think this is a blessing in disguise. He had his moments, he took his lumps, and he knows he has a ton of work to do (as does every young QB) if he is going to take the necessary steps forward. He wouldn't have gained anything more in this game against Vikings and I expect, given all the reports of his work ethic, we are going to see him super focused and he will be 100% healthy for his offseason workouts etc. I hope he will be watching TONs of film, learning his (presumed) new playbook, and SPENDING tons of times with his skill position players while also working with the right coaches on his release (trying to speed it up), footwork, and obviously continuing to just focus on his overall strenght and conditioning (not that it is an issue). Will be excited to see what he can do and the strides that can be made.
  17. Presume that means Dalton will be the guy again...unless Fields gets out of protocols pretty quickly.
  18. I would love for Harbaugh as HC, Rick Smith the GM. At that point - If pace replaces Ted or moved into some other role I could care less cause Bears would have brought in two legit, top notch individuals at their respective positions.
  19. Or my cliff notes version for why I say heck yeah: In four seasons from 2011-2014, the 49ers won 44 regular-season games under Harbaugh, seven playoff games, appeared in three straight NFC Championship Games, and even qualified for Super Bowl XLVII.
  20. He made NFC championship in 3 out of his 4 years, inheriting a lousy 6-10 team. All 4 years he was .500 or better and has a fantastic overall record. Oh and obviously made Super Bowl in one of those 4 years. And the next year the Niners with a similar team absolutely sucked without Harbaugh. He also was pretty good in NFL at having really strong assistant coaches. Honestly - i would be ecstatic with the hire. I still remember arguing with people on this forum when I was adamant Bears should hire Andy Reid (we hired Trestman instead). If Harbaugh legit wants to come here, Bears need to make it happen - but I would specify we need a GM still. One Jim is very comfortable working with and I am ok with him having increased power but he can’t be in the dual role.
  21. I would be exastatic. In general my list of candidates are all experienced head coaches. Oddly enough, outside of Harbaugh or Payton (who would be my dream hire(s), the other coaches I really like are on defensive side of the ball. Specifically Quinn, Bowles and Frazier. I am kind of surprised I have such a defensive lean but I kind of think a tough hard nose guy who runs a bit more conservative style is actually better fit for Fields. Maximize his legs, play action, simplify the field, keep down and distance on your side, etc are all actually really good and basic concepts to help develop a young QB, especially one with Fields strengths and weaknesses. Over time Fields will grow from the situations and each year start to expand his capabilities. I would treat him a lot more like Russel Wilson/Mac Jones/Brad early in their careers and less like Joe Burrow/Kyler Murray.
  22. You guys are delusional in your hate of Rodgers. He is awesome and having another tremendous season. He is not Tua without Adams. He has made great receivers consistently in GB. I would probably say the other way around - Adams is just a guy without Rodgers...just like most of his wideouts (when they went elsewhere) became just meh. Rodgers and Mahome's are 2 best QB's in the league. Brady is not the same as he once was, but obviously still very elite and than you have a bunch of other guys who are in different leagues than Rodgers/Mahome's.
  23. I think Nagy never wanted to start Fields. Quite frankly I think Nagy was right and Bears would have been better off with Fields watching from sidelines for longer. But McCaskey reportedly butter in and Dalton got hurt. I am okay with Fields not playing as he was on a rising trajectory until Baltimore and since thay injury I have seen too many new bad habits like jump passes and other crap. He needs an offseason where he focused on making quick and scripted plays…even if simplified with two quick reads they need to do that to protect him.
  24. This is very true. Draft sec players or guys from small schools with good measurables (like Mooney who had the speed and quickness which were elite.
