Agreed. I like Fitzpatrick a lot because of his fit at safety. My preference is Nelson if he is there. Otherwise top pass rusher or DB. If Nelson isn’t there, I am ok moving down as many as five spots as well because I don’t think there is a major drop off in the linebackers. All of them expected to be there around the bears pick have various strengths and weaknesses. If we want a dB, I do see a distinct drop off after Fitzpatrick and Ward. Jackson from Iowa is good but Fitz and Ward are at another level (prospect wise). Ultimately I think we either move up for Chubb or move down and take another linebacker. This is because I expect Nelson to be gone.

I like this draft a lot. I think Lazard is one of those guys who might not have the speed, but the guy just produced. Knows how to get open and knows how to high point the ball. Ward has shot to be a real playmaker and while we spent money on our 2 primary DB's, its a passing league and injuries, etc. happen, and Ward can cover and looks like the type of guy who will force turnovers.

Alright, the site is officially back online. No more expected outages. Software is on the latest and greatest and I'll send a board note out. Will take a week or two until we can get the color scheme and stuff fixed (so it looks like a Bears site vs. a Raiders site haha).

You should see a button at the bottom, with an arrow that says "go to topic listing" and than another that says "Bearstalk" both of those should take you where you indicate. When we customize the look and feel, we'll see if we can make it bigger with an image.

Tomorrow is when I intend to do the last step of the upgrade. Will likely be down a good part of the day, but I'll have a link up to a temporary board for people to post. Once the new site is up, we'll get back to making this thing look pretty. I'm hoping to add some relevant twitter feeds when you first access the site (on the right hand side) so that there is a good news feed that people can pick up breaking news. If people have other things they'd like to see, let me know.

I'm really really excited. That said, I have to remind myself to taper my expectations. Trubisky is still young and very raw and we are installing a brand new offense, etc. I continue to feel very positive about where the organization is headed long-term and I hope they stick with the plan and make strides. Basically I want to remind myself that most teams/QB's don't experience what the Rams / Jared Goff experienced last year.

Great question. I presume it is still there, but maybe it was deleted. Either way, I'll get a new one set-up. Good to have as a spot in the event of a server outage, etc.

One other thing you all will probably notice is that the forums should work significantly better from mobile devices.

Wanted everyone to know that with the newer forum software, there are some nuances and the "pretty" design is going to have to get built back. I still have one more step to do, which I plan on doing tomorrow night (one step at a time) and after that, I'll get our logo back up and than will have to rebuild our color scheme, etc (since it doesn't carry over to the new software...unfortunately). The nice thing is, embedding twitter posts, etc, is all feasible in this version (where previously a link would show up).

I really like the idea of Edmunds. I would very much like us moving down a few spots, but that would be dependent on a player another team really wants being there. I don't see Nelson there, so it comes down to a LB or a DB to me. I don't know if we are going to take a DB, but I'm still open to it cause Ward / Fitzpatrick are both excellent prospects and we are in a passing world. Pass rusher would be awesome and I'm totally good with some of the "project OLB"s. I figure if we move down a couple slots, we still likely get a Edmunds / Landry while adding some ammunition. If Nelson is there, I'm picking him...period. I see almost zero scenario where he is there.

Given who we have signed, I don't see Wright being back. I presume they wanted more youth and speed. Inman is still out there as well (I think). Basically we will have a brand new receiving corps for Trubisky...since Meredith and White didn't even play last year. Outside of Meredith (RFA), White, Robinson, and Gabriel...what other wideouts do we currently have on the roster? Anyone other than bellamy?

One quick reminder, we will have one more outage for the final part of our upgrade, I'm expecting it will be today and last up to a day or two. This time our server still be online, so you will see a message with a link that will take you to a temporary forum (while the final part of the upgrade is being made). Thanks again for everyone's patience and again, apologies for how long the site was down (with no comments) the 1st time (not having access to the server for a period of time because of an issue that happened during routine maintenance by our server host) was not fun. Oh how I've missed this place!!! Like others, I tried to read some other forums but man, the rest of them suck. They just aren't like the family we have here.

I would love Nelson, but I would be stunned if he is there at 8. I think the Bears like Morgan a lot and we'll probably see them grab a guard / center in the 3rd round and maybe another round too. I have a feeling we see Bears go defense with the 1st 2 picks in the draft (unless Nelson is there).

Man that was really some kind of free agency by Pace and the Bears. Excited we addressed a lot of needs heading into the draft.

Evidently no legs to this rumor. Bears supposedly are pretty high on Howard.

That is what we will be doing as part of the upgrade. Or at least that is the plan.

As an FYI, you'll notice some glitches. We had upgraded our servers to a new instance and it is causing some compatibility issues. You will see intermittent outages until we have this resolved (probably a week to 10 days) but ultimately we are going to be upgrading the software here to the latest software so you might see a few day window where the whole site is down.

It probably doesn't mean Biscuit gets more reps from a game time perspective, but the nice thing is we get additional practice time, which is huge (as long as our medical staff can help keep guys healthy). With a new staff and new system this is big.

Cousins will go to Browns or Broncos. That is my guess (not reporting anything).

Latest reports have Fangio headed to Arizona to be DC under Shermer (sp?). This would mean Vic stringed Bears along (wouldn't surprise me) and would mean we have to put full court press on Arizona's current DC (who would be a stellar hire).

There was twitter report out there that the Bears were looking to meet with the Cardinals DC for a position on the staff. He is an awesome DC and is going to be a HC one day. Would be a dynamic hire if Fangio is going elsewhere. I’d argue he is a better DC, however, he’s also far more likely to leave to be a HC (vs. Fangio who I think if you do sign him stays for his tenure).
