  1. Shaw or Peterson are the only two college head coaches I'd be interested in. Obviously I would do Harbaugh but that isn't happening.
  2. By the way, for those of you so anti Mcdaniels, I think this article is a good read and puts perspective on how he might have changed/grown up from his initial struggles. The guy is really bright and I'd be ecstatic if we hired him. That said, it has to be a good fit and him and Pace have to be on the same page. No front office / team can succeed long-term if they aren't aligned (imo). http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2666428...-pick-his-spots
  3. I don't think Ted Phillips is bad at his job, the problem is, they have given him some responsibility he shouldn't have. He is good at running the finances of the franchise, etc. He should not be in charge of overseeing who is going to make the football decisions. If the Pace hiring doesn't work, then the Bears should restructure their front office with a president, GM, and HC. High up my list would be Bill Polian (as a president type). Dungy would also be there.
  4. I am actually okay with McDaniels as long as he is okay with Pace having final say on the roster.
  5. That would be really great. The downside of not having an offensive guy as your head coach is that if anyone does anything really good with Trubisky, we'll have a new OC and new system in no time. Kind of like what happened with Gase after year 1 of Fox.
  6. This is business as usual in the NFL. You need the GM to be on the same time horizon as your next head coach, otherwise you aren't going to be able to hire any head coach. The moment the Bears decided they were going to keep Pace, it meant they had to extend him to be able to hire someone. If they didn't extend Pace, we'd be stuck with the least attractive coaching candidates because any of the top guys are going to a place where they aren't worried the GM is going to get axed a year into their new job (cause usually when that happens the next GM is going to want his guy).
  7. Trubisky is playing good in these conditions. Nice to see.
  8. Benny Cunningham is a really good 3rd down back.
  9. I disagree with the character matter cause character does matter. That said Gordon always plays hard and while he has issues, I don’t think they are similar to other players. Substance abuse is no joke though and you don’t want that to spread to others. We have massive needs at wideout though, but you need to be a able to depend on those guys.
  10. Sounds good. So we would have glennon at qb and a mediocre record and be wondering how are we ever going to get a QB. No thanks...I’ll take the shot at Trubisky. Bout time we had a gm with the courage to go get the guy he wanted to be our franchise QB.
  11. Toub would be a good head coach. Would be curious to see who he would bring in as coordinators.
  12. I would be all over Bill O’Brien. That would be a hire.
  13. Fuller is having himself a game. He isn’t a number one, but I would pay him.
  14. Josh Gordon would be a guy I would consider taking a chance on. That said he could turn into a disaster.
  15. Pace has drafted quite well. White was a disaster but I can’t blame a guy because of injuries, but other then that he’s found lots of quality players in the draft. We are a good offseason away from being a playoff contender.
  16. Our oline is basically on IR. What do you expect. We don’t have a backup with any experience. Long, Sutton, Compton all out. Massive hurt in the game and obviously Kush hurt in preseason.

    Kyle Long

He's still a physical freak and his ankle should keep getting better. Glad we shut him down and hopefully he gets to play for a winning team next year (and that winning team is the Bears)
  18. He is gone and pass rushing OLB is high on the list. That said, I'm totally down to bring Houston back as a depth move.
  19. Just an outstanding post. I also want to give kudos to the players and coaching staff for having these guys playing hard in what could have easily turned into a disaster. Of course I'm one of the few here who doesn't think Fox is just a total idiot (you don't luck your way into two superbowls with two different teams as the head coach; nor do you luck your way into the playoffs with Tim "freaking" Tebow.
  20. Fuller had about 2 games in this whole season where he wasn't good (missed a few tackles and just didn't play well). Outside of that, he's been really really good. Wish he'd hold on to some of those picks though.
  21. Echo those exact sentiments. Fantastic post.
  22. I thought it was widely reported that Pace doesn't want Fangio? At least those were the first reports...so if anything, I would presume Fangio came out subsequent and pretended like he isn't interested. The reality is, Fangio is not necessarily the most well-liked guy and a lot of teams have questioned whether he could actually be a head coach (doesn't mean those teams aren't wrong...just something worth pointing out). I think he's a good DC...I don't have any interest in him as our HC.
  23. It could be we have guys who are injury prone; It could also be that football is a violent sport and sometimes its just bad luck and you get more impacted some years (vs. other years).
  24. Prosinski and Houston both got a ton of reps and weren't on the roster the week before. The fact that the middle of the field was wide open on numerous occasions shouldn't really shock us.
