  1. YES PLEASE! He's older, but he's still one of the best receivers in the league, and any competent QB could get him the ball. Orton, right now, is borderline competent, and hopefully whoever else we bring in at QB is decent as well.
  2. Well, right now all indications point to Bradford staying, and tomorrow's the deadline. If the draft was right now, Sanchez would go in the 15-25 range. However, IMO, he will be one of the top preformers at the combine/pro days and shoot up draft boards, kind of similar to Cutler. I actually see the Seahawks falling in love with him and drafting him at no. 4 overall. However, if he did fall to 18, I'd love to get him and I'd doubt we'd pass on him (unless we made some sort of big signing). As for Stafford, unless he really lays an egg at the combine/pro day, there's a REALLY good chance of him going no. 1 overall to Detroit.
  3. O.J. Atogwe is gonna be tagged, at the very least, and I'm not that big of a fan of his. He's a HUGE risk taker in the secondary, and so far it has paid off for him, but we'll see if it continues to work for him next year.
  4. www.nfldraftcountdown.com is the best out there. I have yet to find one that even comes close to the amount depth and detail Scott Wright has on his site. Some of the others are decent as well. www.footballsfuture.com ain't bad.
  5. Hopefully this will be the next step into turning Tommie Harris into Warren Sapp.
  6. lol, when did we start running the WCO? Because Garcia, especially at this point of his career, NEEDS to be in a WCO.
  7. Right now, he's pretty much a top 10 pick based on him being a physical specimen, but he never really had elite production you'd expect out of someone like him. If he has a great senior campaign, he could easily go in the top 5.
  8. The more I've been thinking about it, the more I want Leftwich. He's always been at least decent when he's been healthy and had chances, and he's been very good at other times. His biggest knock is that wind up of his. However, he throws rockets and has very good accuracy, which makes up for that slow release. But outside of that, he doesn't have many holes in his game. While he is slow, it isn't that big of a deal because most QB's are, and because he's black, there some insinuation that he should have some speed, IMO. But he has great pocket presence and has the ability to avoid the rush. Also, from everything I have heard, he's as smart as they come and understands defenses. And he is as tough as nails, most people know about that Marshall game. Bring in Leftwich on a two year deal, let him compete with Orton, and go from there. Worst case scenario is that Orton proves he isn't more then just a mediocre QB, we draft a QB in the first round next year, and we keep Leftwich as the starter while the draftee develops.
  9. Wow, when you going to cut Marinelli some slack for being practically sabotaged in Detroit? Look at the lack of success of all the Lions coaches the past 10 years... I don't blame Marinelli at all for the Detroit situation, as it's just a product of an absolutely horrible front office. In fact, while most coaches would have had likely stepped down, Marinelli stuck with it and never gave up. I give him all the credit in the world for that. Also, I think you're forgetting how he coached the most successful DLine during his time as Tampa Bay Dline coach for 10 years. As for Babich going back the linebackers coach, last time I checked the linebackers played good under his coaching, and helped the development of Briggs, Hillenmeyer, and Williams. In fact, it was when he took over as DC that the linebackers play dropped off. Maybe that's due in part because our DLine play started to suck and he sucked as a DC. But he has yet to show he's a bad linebackers coach. And I actually like the Hoke hiring. The Texans secondary has been pretty decent for the immense amount of talent they are lacking. Also, Hoke was able to keep his job as DB coach even when Houston changed coaches. Not to mention Spurrier must have thought pretty highly of him to have had made him the DC and assistant HC at Florida when he was there. No offense dude, but you're nitpicking right now. I don't like Lovie or the way this organization has been run the past couple years anymore then you do, but you are just looking for things to bitch about.
  10. Good move, as it's about damn time Lovie put his money where his mouth is. It's his head on the line this year, and if the D sucks again, we know who's head will be on the chopping block. Also, Babich being the DC right now is just a title. Obviously Lovie didn't want to hurt his friends feeling by having to take away his title, even though he's back to being what he was when Lovie first got here. I think Marinelli is gonna play a bigger role then just DLine as well.
  11. You're probably right, but to completely dismiss it is silly.
  12. Can't be any worse then Grossman and would be a solid option for backup and competitor for starting job. I always liked him as well, and he did play good at times in Jacksonville, and in limited time in Pitt. Sign me up.
  13. LOL if Carolina replaces Delhomme with Anderson. Talk about replacing crap with even more crap. I think they'll pursue Kerry Collins aggressively. Tennessee will be willing to let him go with VY waiting and making a ton of money, and having to pay Haynesworth all they got to keep him. As for us bringing in Delhomme... I just puked all over my key board.
  14. Don't forget he played in the FCS... but he's still a beast. If he runs anything faster then a 4.6, he's gonna be a 2nd rounder.
  15. Obviously Minnesota thought their two biggest needs heading into the offseason last year were WR and DE. If they don't get Berrian, perhaps they sign a DE and trade their first for a WR. Maybe they end up signing someone else and still get Allen. Who knows, but to say that if they didn't sign Berrian, they would have still done all the same stuff is bogus. Maybe they would, maybe they would have changed their plans. Who knows. But it's silly of you to completely dismiss it. Give me a freakin break.
  16. There was some reports about McDaniels wanting Sean McDermott as the DC, but it looks like Capers will be the DC. Good move by McDaniels if it is Capers. While McDermott is a great young defensive mind (secondary coach for Philadelphia), I don't think it would be wise to have two guys who are both in their early 30's being pretty much the top 2 coaches on the team. Someone like Capers has a ton of experience and would be a great fit for McDaniels. McDaniels will likely focus mainly on the offensive aspect of the game, and he could give Capers pretty much all of the control of the defense. However, lets say McDaniels pretty much was all offense and gave McDermott control over the whole defense, they could form one of the best coaching combinations in the history of the NFL. That is if they both pan out, and McDermott never wants a HC job. But while we're on the subject of McDermott, man oh man would I love for him to be our DC. He'd bring the scheme of defense that I would want here.
  17. I like the hiring, but it seems like they are replacing Shanny with a much younger Shanny. Both are great offensive minded coaches who are great with QB's and connect with their players. Now, I'm thinking Romeo Crennel as their DC.
  18. Personally, I want Lovie to put his money where his mouth is and take over the D. Basically have him take over all defensive game planning, let Babich have the title of defensive coordinator, and go from there. This is because if the D fails, there's no scapegoat to fire but Lovie himself.
  19. I really don't like Edwards as a DC though. He is known as a HC for just very bad game plans, but he is a very good coach and a great DB coach. I'm thinking after the Chiefs bring in Pioli (it's almost a done deal) and fire Edwards, we could maybe entice Edwards to be a DB coach for a season while he waits for a HC position in 2010. This is because he ain't getting a HC job this offseason, and a coordinator would require more of a long term commitment. To have Edwards as DB coach, even for one season, I'd cream my pants.
  20. He's still the HC for the Chiefs, but he's gonna be fired very shorty. As for not excepting a job as a DB coach, who knows. Unlikely, but not that far fetched.
  21. Don't forget that Franchising him would have kept him away from Minny and perhaps change their whole offseason (meaning maybe they spend a 1st round pick on a WR, and not trade for Allen).
  22. I was just thinking about something... Is the reason why we fired Wilkes because Herm Edwards is likely out the door in Kansas City, and we plan on aggressively going after Edwards to be our DB coach? He and Lovie are good friends as well, and perhaps Edwards, like Marinelli, would like to go back to coaching his old position. I think it is a legit possibility. Also, I wouldn't want Edwards as a DC as he the biggest knock against him is his game planning. However, he was a great DB's coach.
  23. Or, in a very unlikely scenario, Babich steps down as DC and takes the LB coach position, and we bring in a new DC.
  24. I never really thought they had much of a chance, but if San Diego made it to the Superbowl, we would have moved up a draft slot. Well, baring some miracle, the Steelers are thumping them right now and are gonna be in the AFC championship game. So, our official draft slota on the first day will be: -18th pick in round 1, 18th overall -17th pick in round 2, 49th overall The rest of our picks now are pretty much contingent on how Arizona does next week, and where all the comp picks go to.
  25. It was easy to tell where he was gonna throw... his wind up took forever and he stared down his receivers.
