  1. Booker's as good as gone, IMO. I love him, but he sucks now, and we'd save about 1.5 million by cutting him.
  2. He only got a 9.5 million signing bonus, that's all we have to pay. If my understanding of contracts is correct, when a player gets cut, they only get what their signing bonus was. So any roster bonuses they might have, or workout bonuses don't get paid because they won't be on the roster or working out with the team anymore. They don't get any other bonuses owed to them. Also, a signing bonus is almost always spread out evenly throughout the length of a contract. Like I previously stated, he's got 7.6 million left from his signing bonus, but because he would have been making 4.8 million anyway, we only add an extra 2.8 million to the cap. Now, if you know something I don't, please tell me. I'm no expert on this stuff, so there is a chance I am wrong, but I am fairly certain. Also, if you do the math, you would see that rotoworld's numbers don't add up. We need LT to help clarify this for us.
  3. Are teams now conducting the offseason through madden? Hell, you couldn't even do all that in madden.
  4. Assistant HC just is a title. It allows the Bears to pay him more money then the other assistant coaches. It does NOT mean he will be in the driver seat as DC. If he was going to be the DC, or be in charge of the D, Babich would have been fired/demoted already.
  5. Manning should stay at nickel back, period. As for Bowman, if he could stay healthy, he could be something. He had all the tools to possibly be a first round pick, but injuries caused him to drop.
  6. Oh well, if this leads to Lovie and the whole coaching staff getting fired next year, I'm all for it. Especially if Shanny decides to sit out the rest of this season. I'm just salivating at the idea of Shanny as the HC (and pretty much the OC as well), and bring in someone like Jim Johnson to be the DC and just have complete control over the defense (which is a possibility if the Eagles get knocked out early and suck next year).
  7. If we hire Marinelli as our DLine coach/Assistant HC (which I wanted in the first place), it would likely mean that Babich will stay as DC. I figure if we wanted to make a change at coordinator, we'd first get the new DC before we made hired new assistant coaches.
  8. No, it would be 4.7. He got a 9.5 million signing bonus which spread out over 5 years is exactly 1.9 million a year. So, he has 7.6 million left in bonuses, but if you subtract his salary for 09/10 from that, 2.9 million, and the amount he would make in bonuses anyway, it comes to a total of 2.8 million that we'd lose. So, we'd owe him 7.6 million, but in all reality, we'd only lose 2.8 million in cap, or we could spread that out over 2 seasons as you said. Considering he's come in out of shape the past two years, played like shit, and JA probably wants to make an example, it makes a lot of sense that Vasher could be and will be cut.
  9. no one's gonna trade anything for him, considering the contract he has and we want him out of town.
  10. Vasher's gonna be cut. We lose out on about 4.7 million, but it's the right move. Also, if we plan on moving Tillman to FS, hopefully we plan on bringing in a new DC who's gonna change up the scheme.
  11. Mays has about as much bust potential as anyone in the draft. He has the physical abilities of Sean Taylor, but doesn't have the same production or just outright dominance in college Taylor had.
  12. was that the media day for the superbowl, and someone asked him something about them scoring only 17 points? That is freakin hilarious.
  13. Okay, a comparison to Darren Sproles is one thing, but seriously, did you just compare Wolfe to Leon Washington? There's a big difference between the two, most notably Wolfe being an inch shorter and 20 pounds less.
  14. I'm very interested in what the Jets are going to do this offseason, mainly in the draft. Favre won't likely make his final decision until after the draft, and perhaps the Jets will be inclined to take a QB?
  15. He's not really wrong. The Dline was a big reason why Urlacher struggled at times. If you noticed, once Anthony Adams started, Urlacher's game improved a lot. Not saying he played up to his contract, but he played a lot better then people give him credit for. And a lot of casual football fans who don't know a whole lot about the strategy of the game don't understand what type of role the players around a certain player plays.
  16. I thought it was with 2 "l's", but the other guy threw me off with on 1 "l". Also, just get this completely correct, there's no *'* in Parcells.
  17. Because it pushes down the actual threads worth talking about, and just creates a bunch of useless clutter when you are actually trying to find a thread from the list.
  18. Honestly, why do you think Wolfe would be good? Because he tore up teams in the freaking MAC? He's a decent player, but I wouldn't, and obviously the Bears coaching staff, wouldn't trust him with more then a couple snaps a game.
  19. honestly, what's the point of this thread? I don't mean to be cruel, but damn. You think Ted Phillips is gonna fire Jerry and Lovie, bring in Parcels (who likely won't leave Miami, unless for a HC spot), and just start a hole overhaul of our offensive and defensive schemes? My god. Yeah, it worked for the Dolphins, but they already had a lot of the personal needed for Parcels schemes, and they are the exception, not the rule. I honestly don't mean to be cruel, but if you want to dream, go right ahead. Post it in one of the other 80 thousand coaching threads we have. No need to waste a thread on a dream scenario that has about a .00000000000001 chance of happening.
  20. Hey jason, if Martz is so godly, can you explain to me why he hasn't been able to stick with any team since his glory days with the Rams, which were mainly a product of insanely good talent.
  21. Puh-lease... Garret Wolfe shouldn't be considered anything more then a special teamer. What a terrible draft pick he was, along with Okwo and Bazuin.
  22. I've been thinking about it, and I'd be ecstatic if we brought in someone from the Eagles or Giants to be our DC (some up and coming DC who has learned other Jim Johnson and/or Steve Spagnoulo), and got Marinelli as our DLine coach (and give him the title of Assistant HC). Also, Babich needs to be fired, not demoted. I know he's a friend of Lovie's, but that's a move that has to be made. As for a change in the scheme, it will be nothing drastic, as the schemes are a bit similar, at least in the front 7. If we switched up our D to be more of a man to man heavy blitz (like the Giants or Eagles), we'd need a new SAM who can blitz and get to the QB. We'd also need to get some cover corners, and shift Tillman to FS (this is the only time I'd advocate a shift of Tillman to FS is if we changed schemes like this). We already look for the same stuff on the line, so nothing really changes there. I think a change like this is exactly what the doctor ordered.
  23. Right now, we just have to focus on the D, IMO. Get the D back up to at least top 10 in the league, and go from there.
  24. Um... not even close. He was easily our worst lineman this year, and he was pretty terrible last year. However, last year's award goes to Fred Miller, with Garza close behind.
  25. Hanie is a developmental player, like most other UDFA's and late round QB's. He's going to be the 3rd string QB to develop. I don't see what is so tough to understand about his situation. He is a solid developmental QB who could potentially see some time in a year or two.
