Well, the difference is that Barden has actually been productive in his college career (it was at a D-I FCS school, but he was in a run heavy offense), is at least an inch taller, and is projected to run a faster 40.
-
Lol, that's a terrible arguement. If you are good enough to be drafted, you have potential. Just because you are 6'6" doesn't mean you're an automatic 2-4 round pick.
-
Lol, because Turner plays for USC doesn't make him a 2-4 round pick. That's just silly. Unless he shocks the world and runs a 4.45 40 and has an outstanding combine/pro-day, there isn't a shot Turner cracks the 5th round. Due to the fact he has been relatively un-productive his career at USC and will probably run between a 4.6-4.7 40, he's gonna be a 6th round draft pick at best if some team falls in love with him. Don't get me wrong, he has potential, but he is FAR FAR FAR away from being a 2nd round pick, let alone 3rd or 4th. As for rather having Chung, are you freaking crazy? How many SS due you want, what the hell? Chung is gonna play SS in the NFL. And as for Cook, if he does enter which I don't think he will, he'd be a SS as well. Besides, Cook would surely go in the early part of round 2 at the lastest.

Here is a really quick mock I made... (assuming we pick around 17 and get a 3rd and two 7th round comp picks, and we swaped 6th rounders w/ TB): 1-17) OG Duke Robinson, Oklahoma We need a big mauler inside and Duke and Chris Williams give us a great young LT-LG combo. Garza is decent at RT and let Beekman and Buenning compete with Garza for the RG job. Bring back St. Clair as well and have him compete for the RT spot with Tait. 2-17) FS Rashad Johnson, Alabama FS is, I think, a bigger need then people think. We have two SS starting right now, and Steltz isn't the answer, and Manning is better off in a nickle role. Rashad Johnson has been someone the Bears have been reportedly scouting, and he is a Bears type of guy. Could probably start from day one at FS, or at least rotate in if we keep Mike Brown. 3-17) WR Ramses Barden, Cal Poly Big WR we need who is 6'6" and was extremely productive in an option running offense, but will likely not go as high as he should because of a sub-par 40. With our lack of receivers, and the lack of receivers in free agency (outside of TJ), he could see plenty of game time, unless he pulls a Bennett. 3-CP) DE Philip Hunt, Houston Great pass rushing DE who falls a bit because of his height. I compare him to a lesser Elvis Dumervil, because he is able to use his lack of height as an advantage because of great leverage he gets. He goes all out and would hopefully do the role Mark Anderson was supposed to do. 4-17) LB Jason Williams, Western Illinois Small school guy with loads of potential and knows how to get to the QB from the LB spot. Could potentially be a starter at SAM for us, and likely be a very solid special teams player. He also has an outstanding knack for stripping the ball, and we know the Bears love that. 5-17) FB Brannan Southerland, Georgia We need a guy who can block from the FB spot, and overall not suck. I'd still draft him here even if we do sign a FB like Weaver because I feel we need a guy who can really open up some holes. We could install a jumbo package like the Ravens do with Weaver as the RB and Sutherland as the FB paving the road. 6-25) OT Rylan Reed, Texas Tech Falls because he is older then the usual prospect at the age of 26, I believe. However, he shut down Brian Orakpo when he faced him, is a very smart player, and has great size and strength. This former pitcher in the White Sox organization could turn out to be a solid tackle and start fairly soon. 7-17) WR Mike Wallace, Ole Miss A guy to compete at WR during camp, has some upside. 7-CP) WR Patrick Turner, Southern Cal Same as above. 7-CP) DT Sammie Lee Hill, Stillman Small school DT who could provide competition in camp.

I just think Jerry's pride would be to high to admit he made a mistake by cutting him. Sure he had his injury problems, but when you cut him and kept garbage like Quisim Mitchell on the team, you made one hell of a mistake.
-
I remember him back with Auburn and thought he had a lot of potential... well, I'd guess to say he's Wolfe's replacement on ST.
-
well, I doubt we were ever interested in bringing Colombo back.
-
I don't mind Davis as a 4th receiver and backup SLOT guy, as well as a solid special teams contributer, but anything more then that, and it's puke time. I think my dog has better hands then Davis, and is hands are literally paws.
-
The only FA signing we need to make is either Suggs or Peppers. We need to break the bank on one of these 2 players.
-
If it wasn't for Olsen, that 07 draft would be really ugly right now... Bazuin, Okwo, and Wolfe... ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Saints are bad away from the Dome, but if the conditions aren't that bad on Thursday, I could see us getting torched. As for the Packers, they suck, but they sure did bend us over and had their way with us. And the Texans are a lot better team then people give them credit for, and they will be tough at their place.

With Green Bay's loss today, they are pretty much eliminated from the picture. However, we have an up hill battle to climb to overtake the Vikings. Our next three games are fairly tough games, IMO, but the Vikings have a brutal 3 game stretch with Arizona, Atlanta, and New York Giants. The biggest thing holding us back from the playoffs are ourselves. In the past four games (including today), we have only played 2 good halves, IMO. Our first half vs. the Jags today, and our first half vs. the Rams. Hell, if you think about it, our last good game was vs. the Eagles (I don't count at the Lions as they don't count as a team). I am kind of amazed how we've won 7 games already. We have really played like shit this year, with all three fascits of game (offense, defense, special teams) rarely ever playing well for a full game. I could see us finishing 7-9, and I could also see us finish 10-6. Weird.

lol, Bears 88, how good are Kevin Jones and Rex Grossman in the sack?
-
And sadly he is still our best WR.
-
I guarantee Boldin and Fitz are gonna stay in Arizona for a while. They'd be stupid not to pay them to keep them together, and if they did trade either one of them, they'd be asking for probably at least two 1st rounders.
-
This year is a very week FB class. The best is probably Brennen Southerland, but he has had trouble staying healthy this year. He's probably a 5th round guy at the earliest, but more then likely is gonna go in the 6th. Javorskie Lane ain't even gonna get drafted. The guy we should target for FB is Leonard Weaver of Seattle. He's a UFA, and Seattle can afford to lose him.
-
I want Jim Johnson. We need a DC who knows how to get pressure on opposing teams QB. I also wouldn't mind Rob Ryan or Rod Marinelli
-
Well, arguably the best, or one of the best motivators in NFL is Rod Miranelli, from what I've heard and read. Yeah, the Lions suck, but that's more on upper-management and Millen being a complete joke. And I think the odds of him being our DC next year are great.
-
I know this, and I completely agree with it. However, after his 4 (or is it 5 years), he should still be in very excellent shape and be able to tryout for any team if he still wants to.
-
Texas A&M had a certain weight they had Lane to bet at prior to the season, and he was off by about 20 pounds or so. That gives me a clear indication that he is lazy, and would rather get fat then get better. Also, they could waive the commitment, but they didn't for Caleb Campbell, and they probably shouldn't for anyone in the same boat.
-
Javorskie Lane will be lucky if he gets drafted. He is lazy, and has only gotten fatter in his career at Texas A&M. Also, I'm pretty sure Kettani isn't gonna be eligible considering he has to serve what, 4 or 5 years in the Navy? Besides, he isn't a true FB.

I didn't bother reading this thread, but I feel the biggest problem with our coaching staff is that we basically only have guys who played some ball at college (probably mostly small schools), and became coaches. I realize the majority of coaches come through this route, but I'm not sure if we have one coach on the team who has had any NFL experience as a player. I think we need some coaches with that experience, and have been there before. We also need some more motivational guys. With Lovie there looking like an idiot, someone has to get some passion into the guys.
-
The bolded statement is wrong. We probably play zone coverage for the majority, but we play a ton of man, and it's just probably a little bit off of how much we play zone. We blitz more then any other team in the league (which is said considering how we can't get consistent pressure on the QB), and when we bring 1, 2, or even 3, that leaves us with either cover 1 (which is basically man to man with a deep safety playing centerfield), cover 3 (this is actually the coverage we run the most), and cover 0 (which is man to man with nobody in zone). I'm not going to deny our system runs a lot of zone coverages, but we run a whole lot more man situations then people realize. People hear tampa 2/cover 2 and automatically think cover 2 shell, automatic zone coverage, which is false. The only time we ever play a true cover 2 is when it's either 3rd and long, or the other team is down and in an all pass situation.

What??? He breaks down more than a car? This is the first serious injury he's ever had. He went through all 4 years at Vandy healthy. I don't know what the hell you're talking about.
-
It doesn't matter what school he went, as he has everything NFL scouts drool over. He has size, speed, power, strength, production, and to top it off, he's just a great football player who is very smart. I've been saying he's gonna be a top 5 pick for the past couple of months.
