I'd prefer Leftwich...
-
I actually had the option of going to this on friday, but already had prior engagements.

I don't know if it is the homer in me, but I have a real good feeling about this year. I think our top defense is going to return and that our offense will at least be better than what it was in 05-06. I'm not going to lie, I think we make the playoffs this year as a wildcard. I think the vikings will win the divison with their D and dominate running. However, I see the Pack having a very mediocre and disappointing season. This is because of all the Farve crap. Stuff like that are distractions to the team, and than Rodgers has more pressure than anyone trying to replace him in Green Bay. I think it is going to be a bumpy ride for them this season.

I know the Raider have that great corner duo, but how much depth do they have? Perhaps a swap of RMJ for Jordan would benefit both teams?
-
It wasn't bad scouting as from a scouting perspective, Benson was as good as it got. He had all the tools you looked for and was quite simply a great prospect. I'd chalk it up to more so of bad judgement/bad luck. We all knew there were character concerns, but there was no one else at 4. That first round was just an all-around bad situation for us.

I think everyone besides the rookies and their agents think that rookies get too much...

Well, old Halas Hall is now Lake Forest College's football field and the building is used for only their football team. The new Halas Hall is actually near by but is tough to see as it is behind some trees and there is a fence blocking cars from entering. I got to go see old Halas Hall because I am going to be a senior in high school, and my coach took some players down there to tour the campus and talk with the coaches.
-
I was at Lake Forest today and took a tour of old Halas Hall... I did not feel worthy walking on the same grounds George Halas, Mike Ditka, Gale Sayers, Walter Payton, etc. practiced and coached on for so many years. I felt like I needed to drop down and kiss the ground I walked.

Would be a great move to make. That way if both Orton and Grossman fail, instead of falling back on a UDFA like Hanie or Hill, we'd at least have Leftwich.
-
Nice, very good move! Also, couldn't happen to a more deserving player. The only UT that I've seen that was better was Warren Sapp, but that was a long time ago.
-
I'm 100% positive that 31 teams in the NFL are thinking about dealing for Boldin... however, most realize this isn't madden.
-
For the offense, I'm expecting/hoping that they won't be feast or famine like 06, but rather just be consistent. Whether is be Grossman or Orton behind center, all I want to see is long drives taking time off the clock (resting the D) and scoring between 14-24/7 points a game. That is not including points scored by Defense or Special Teams. Now add those points by the ST and D, and we should have scored enough to win, if the D does it's job. I'm not expecting this offense to outscore anyone, but to be good enough to get us the amount of points we need and keep the D rested!

I love Tillman. Seems like an all around great guy, and someone you'd love to hang out with.
-
I know I am a homer and all, but I just have this feeling about this year. I really think we will open up the season with a bang like in 06. I love the way this defense is coming together, and hopefully as long as most of the key players stay healthy, I think the D could jump back into the top 5.
-
do we really need two threads about the same topic?
-
If AP is the starter, we might as well concede right now.
-
I would love it if we signed Kevin Jones. He's the best available FA RB.
-
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/home_NFL.aspx Well, he wants to play guard. He might have timed in the 7's, but that was probably his first 40 in over 2 years. I still feel he would be well-worth the risk.
-
Maybe that crazy stripper he had a kid with was bugging the shit out of him, so he decided to show up...
-
You give the winner of the job 3 weeks to keep the job. If he sucks, switch them. If the replacement sucks after 3 weeks, we are pretty much hosed right up the ass then.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_...i?urn=nfl,87187 well, it looks like the Bears D was really trying to hurt Benson and it wasn't just rumors...

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-b...p&type=lgns LeCharles Bentley and his agent asked for a release and they got it. This is because Bentley wants to start somewhere new with the chance of starting and not being a backup plan. If you recall, a couple years ago Bentley was an up-and-comming stud on the O-Line and signed with the Browns to a massive contract. Unfortunatly, he had a career threatening injury and hasn't played for the past 2 years. However, from all reports he is healthy again. Now, I am not one to propose all these goofy ideads, and Bentley is probably not the same player he used to be, but I'd still have more faith in him than Metcalf. Bentley can play either guard or center, and would provide for a backup for Kreutz as well. We are in dire need of help on the O-Line, and these seems like a risk we'd be stupid not to take, IMO. Thoughts?

Ideally... Forte will be the main guy. Wolfe will be the change of pace guy. Peterson will get a series or two throughout the game to rest Forte. However, I think we will bring in another FB/RB...

Benson Crying at Draft cause he hated Bears picking him?!
BearSox replied to butkusrules's topic in Bearstalk
Most people forget that Benson WAS the best available pick back then. You can't forget that coming out of Texas, Benson was an elite prospect and was considered a can't miss. And trading down (especially from 4) is a whole lot easier said than done. Looking back, the ideal pick would have been Jammal Brown (who went at 13), but that would have been a serious over-draft. That year's whole top 10 sucked besides for Brown and Edwards. This is a pick we can't blame Angelo on because 9 out 10 GM's would have made the same pick, IMO. This one we have to chalk up to Benson being a bitch. -
With our WR corps as is... can't we have Marcus for the year than retire? I'd rather have him than Lloyd.
