I don't think any of us should be glad, but rather disappointed. Disappointed that once such a good, as close as you can get to a can't miss prospect, is now gone after 3 years. I was one of his biggest backers, but he was a person of horrible judgment. I personally would have given him more time depending on how the charges fell into place and such, but I have no problem with him being cut now for being a freakin dumbass. He wasn't as bad as Tank though, as Tank was a thug more or less. Benson is like his idol Ricky Williams and likes to get hosed up, which isn't a good thing, but it's not as bad as having 100 guns and getting into gun fights at bars. Oh well, I just wish this happened before the draft so we could have gotten someone like Hillis, Hester (Jacob that is), or Schmitt in the draft. I don't think even if we did cut Benson before the draft, we would have done anything different with the 1st two picks.

I don't care anymore... this seems like an automatic 4 game suspension now, IMO.
-
He does look like he has more of a burst this year... however, we musn't forget that this is w/o pads.
-
And that's not a bad thing either. I wouldn't be surprised if he was playing close to 270 last year, if not lighter.
-
The last thing we need is another smoking buddy for Benson.
-
The weight gain probably effects his special team play, but UT is much more important. Hopefully Bazuin or someone could take over Idonije's role on ST if he is indeed unfit to play on kick offs and such.
-
If you need another, I'm in.
-
If Lloyd was willing to contribute on special teams, he'd have a shot at the team. But since he isn't, and he is far from a no. 2, he has no spot on this team.

A good quote: Benson was good in 05 and 06, but shit in 07. Perhaps it was that he was handed the starting job that lacked the fire in his ass. Maybe he is the type that needs competition. I don't know. But I know one thing for sure, having a two back running attack of Benson and Forte would only make us better. With our QB's and WR's, there is no question that we are going to have to leave our mark with the running game on offense.
-
After last season and all the question marks surrounding the team, we have no right to complain about our ranking. I have hope like everyone else, but you gotta earn respect.

If Mike Brown, along with others, stay healthy, we could have a very good D this year. I am loving our depth at DE right now. Plus, Tommie Harris at 100% should be fun to watch.

DEFENSE (Don't feel like writing out a whole lot on this one) DEFENSIVE LINE: LDE: Adawale Ogunleye UT: Tommie Harris NT: Dusty Dvoracek ROTATION DT*: Marcus Harrison RDE: Alex Brown PASS RUSHER*: Mark Anderson LINEBACKERS: WILL: Lance Briggs MIKE: Brian Urlacher SAM: Hunter Hillenmeyer DEFENSIVE BACKS: CB: Charles Tillman CB: Nathan Vasher NICKLE*: Ricky Manning Jr. FS: Mike Brown SS: Brandon McGowan *=situational position

OFFENSE QB: Kyle Orton -Rex has had his chance the previous 2 years and has shown to be mediocre at best. Lets see what Orton can do. If worst comes to worst, Grossman plays again come around midseason. BEST CASE: Orton turns into a decent stop gap for a year or two. WORST CASE: 2007 all over. RB: Cedric Benson -Forte will get plenty of time, but for the time being it's Benson's job to lose. Unless Benson is totally out of shape, and is playing terrible, I would prefer to see Forte ease into the job rather then have him get it by default. BEST CASE: Benson finds some of that potential and we have a solid 2 back system. WORST CASE: Forte becomes the starter. FB (when in play): Jason McKie -well duh. WR: Marty Booker -Really, people think Bennett will start? Give me a break, WR, next to QB, is the toughest position in the get acclimated to. I like Bennet, but thinking he will start is extremely positive thinking. Best case scenario for us is that he plays in a Steve Smith (Giants) role for us. Booker is really the only guy that for-sure should start for us. Similar to Moose, but better. BEST CASE: Serves as a good possession receiver. WORST CASE: Is no different than Moose and Bennett takes over. WR: Mark Bradley -Hester has to prove he can actually play WR first. Right now Hester's best fit is as slot WR and sometimes as the no. 2. Is sacrificing the difference he makes in the return game worth trying to make him a starter? Unless he becomes Steve Smith (Panthers), I think not. Bradley has the upper hand due to experience. BEST CASE: Orton and Bradley rekindle that relationship from the Lions game a few years ago. WORST CASE: Hester takes over (which might be a good thing) SLOT/TE2 (when in play): Greg Olsen -He might be listed as a TE, but he's athletic enough to line up in the slot. He is probably our no. 1 receiving threat. He should see as much time on the field as possible. BEST CASE: Breaks out and has a huge year. WORST CASE: Ron Turner refuses to use him. TE: Desmond Clark -Not much to be said here. Goes in and does his job, whether that might be to block someone or go up the middle to make a reception. LT: Chris Williams BEST CASE: Is as good or even better then Tait from last year. WORST CASE: Struggles, but shows flashes. LG: John St. Clair -Showed flashes last season OC: Olin Kreutz -hopefully he will rebound. Not having to block for the LG should help. RG: Roberto Garza -Solid player who had a down year. RT: John Tait -Probowl potential at RT.

To be honest, I'd be shocked if Lloyd made this team.
-
Oh well... he's not gonna care when he signs that fat rookie pay check.
-
what is this obsession with Rhodes? I'd take Benson drunk with pepper spray in his eyes over Rhodes any day.
-
People really take for granted what cops go through. Every stop they make could be their final one.
-
It's sad though... soooooo much talent, yet so little maturity. oh well.
-
You know there are other boats out in lakes and such? It's not like you're the only one out there.
-
I don't really care if we keep or cut him at this point. I have been one of the biggest Benson backers here, but instead of getting drunk on a boat, he should be rehabbing his ankle. I don't care anymore with him. Forte is the future anyway.
-
I noticed that as well. I can see why he has potential as a blocker from that picture.
-
I am pretty sure that's Joey LaRocque, considering that the first two letters of his name on his helmet are JO, and the only other person who's name begins with JO who we brought in, is actually a big black man.
-
I bet you there are more UDFA QB's in the league who have made more contributions on their teams then there are 4th round QB's.
-
Lloyd's not even going to make the team I bet. His overall crappy play to go along with his refusal to play special teams does not bode well for him to make the team.
-
why do people forget that we make roster spots for special teamers? We carried 5 backfield options last year, someone tell me why that would change. The only thing that is changing is that we are replacing a crappy backup FB with Forte.
