Olsen can be used so many ways... TE, H-Back, and wide out. He better be on the field a good majority of the time.
-
The only way a team would pick Baker over Cherilus is because they use a ZBS and already have a RT (Panthers for example). Other wise, Cherilus is about 10x the prospect Baker is.
-
I could care less either way. If we sign him, great. If we don't, oh well. I feel the same way about this as I do with Kevin Jones.
-
you never know who might turn out to be a stud. If one of the three even make the team I'd consider that a victory.
-
I don't get it. Would we get the draft pick and/or money from San Fran? Or would they just be penalized?
-
Gosder Cherilus is arguably the 3rd best OT in the draft. The only reason why Otah is going to go ahead of him is because of his enormous potential and Williams will because of his possibility of being a franchise LT. Plus, this is a stacked tackle class. Puke and Gosder Cherilus' name should should not be in the same sentence. Cherilus is a hell of a prospect in his own right and is probably the safest pick among all OT's to go along with Jake Long. He will be able to step in and produce at RT right away, and for a long time.

Now he is making more then the president...
-
Google him.
-
oh yeah, who are they then?

No way Jerome Simpson lasts until 4th round. Hell, we'd be lucky to see him last until our 1st 3rd round pick. He has been flying up the boards. And screw FB, we got McKie who isn't going anywhere and we are likely gonna carry 4 RB's.
-
Stewart is still a first rounder... this just means Mendenhall is now officially the no. 2 RB in the draft.

My ideal draft, but unlikely, would be something like the following: *Trade down with the Jaguars: Trade 14 for their 1st and 2nd picks and a future draft pick (probably something like their future 3rd). This works because the values match up and the Jags can move up and fix a glaring need at DE with one of Harvey or Merling, and we get an additional pick to help address the many needs we have* 1-26) RT Gosder Cherilus, Boston College 2-13) QB Joe Flacco, Delaware 2-27) DT Trevor Laws, Notre Dame 3-12) WR Jerome Simpson, Coastal Carolina 3-27) OG Roy Schuening, Oregon St. 4-11) RB Cory Boyd, South Carolina 5-09) LB Jonathan Goff, Vanderbilt 6-09) WR D.J. Hall, Alabama 7-08) OL Kerry Bown, Appalachian St. 7-CP) DB D.J. Wolfe, Oklahoma

this one is tougher but my guesses are: Prospect A: Joe Flacco Prospect B: Chad Henne Prospect C: Josh Johnson Prospect D: Colt Brennan Prospect E: Matt Ryan Prospect F: Brian Brohm Prospect G: Andre' Woodson

I like Brown but I really don't think he fits our line scheme as a tackle but rather guard.

I play with the Bears online, but offline I usually take a bad-mediocre team and rebuild them.

I have seen in more then one place that this is actually true, and in a couple places that it is false. Do you have a link or something that actually tells the truth?

Just a little bit too much Madden playing going on in here...

Angelo is a great GM and about 1000x better then all of us combined at scouting players. A lot of this bashing at him is really retarded because since people don't get what they want they think he is stupid. Well, this "idiotic GM who Fuggs up a lot" got this team to the superbowl just 2 years ago. I can hardly blame him for the problems of last year since injuries, and lack of team heart were the problem for that team.
-
I'll be honest, I don't know anything about him and never heard of him before now. But looking at his NFL page he has real good size and it looks like he can make a big catch here and there, since his career Yards Per Catch is 12.5. But if it is more then slightly above the minimum, if that, he isn't worth it. We could get someone in the 6th or 7th round of the draft who can do at least close to the same things.
-
It's a possibility. I guess it just depends on what type of offense they run. If it is still the air croyell, I think they go with someone like Chris Johnson in the 2nd. However, if they modify their offense to a bit more conventional one, Mendenhall would be a good option in the 1st. However, if the Lions had a competent GM, I'd say defense or OLine is a must pick in the 1st round, but they have Matt Millen running things there.

I love Jerry Angelo, but Wolfe was a horrible pick. He will never be anything more then a situational guy for 3rd down. He's a no. 3 RB and nothing more. Jones, depends on the price tag, but I'd love to get him.

Bears and Scott were never linked at all. Not by rumors by the media, not by any "league sources", not by anything. You suggesting that Angelo was involved somehow is purely speculative and is not Bears news at all. Yeah, we need OLine help, but getting more RG's ain't gonna help. We need help at LG and at one of the tackle spots. This was not Bears news at all, plain and simple. Speculation on the part of posters with absolutely no evidence is not Bears news... that's being an armchair GM. This also relates to Larry Fitz. In no way was he anywhere near Bears news. The eagles supposedly made an offer, but it was obvious the Cardinals were going to keep him and they did. I could see if the Bears supposedly made an offer or were even rumored by some source in the media to be pursuing him, but none of that happened. Really, if it's too tough to take a quick glance at a couple other sub-forums here, I feel sorry for you. Well, not really, but it's stupid to complain about the rules because it isn't "convenient" for you. No offense to anyone here, and I in no way am trying to be a junior mod or anything, but if moving the mouse a little more and clicking a little button is too tough for you, too freaking bad. This board doesn't consist of just a few select people, it consists of a good number of bear fans. And whichever way the mods feel like running this website is fine by me. They give us great access to a top of the line forum for free, and take the money out of their own pocket. They don't ask for anything in return except to try and follow the rules, and I respect that.

Jake Scott is an unathletic RG. Garza is about a billion times better then him. Hell, you could stick Metcalf in as the Colts RG, and with their system and coaching, he'd be half-way decent. And Scott can't play RT since he does not have to size for it. Scott would have no spot on this team and had absolutely nothing to do with the Bears. Faneca, Bell, Starks, etc. could all be related since they would actually fill holes. Scott wouldn't fill a damn thing, and he has not one damn thing to do with the Bears. Just because we need OLine help doesn't mean that every single freaking OLinemen out on the market is Bear related.

also, I wouldn't say Brohm has a great arm. He has an adequate arm that's not gonna wow anyone, but it's a hella lot stronger then someone like Chad Pennington's. Also, a negative for Brohm should be that he played in a gimmicky offense. EDIT: I just read Brohm had the second highest velocity on his throws at the combine timing at 57 mph. Flacco was no. 1 at 58 mph. So, his arm strength is better then I thought. He might not have as much distance on his ball like some others, but he can get it to you in a hurry.

not really surprised. He's a native of Illinois, and we did almost sign him before the beginning of last season. Would be a good move if we do sign him on the cheap.
