Berrian is a top 20 receiver and he is a no. 1 receiver. Imagine how good of a year he would have had last year if there was a QB who could consistently get him the ball and a run game. Defenses knew he was our go to guy, yet he still racked up 950~ yards. Put him on a team with consistent QB play and a running game, he racks up well over 1000 yards. Depending on how Jackson develops, which I actually think he will develop good, I could easily see Berrian having a pro-bowl year.

Oh, and I just wanted to point out to everyone how freakin stupid it was to not franchise Berrian.
-
Hutch and Steinbach got an average of 7 million per year each. Faneca considered himself a notch above both of them (that can be debated) and wanted to paid better then both of them. That is why he wanted an average of 8 million. Pretty simple, good OLinemen will always get paid.

So... I really wanted us to retain him, and it sucks we didn't do so. But now that he is Viking, I can't help but hate him.

I disagree. Last year Okwo was drafted mainly because of Briggs attitude and how he said he would never be a bear again, and etc. I guarantee if Briggs just signed the tender right away and never became such a ? mark, we wouldn't have drafted Okwo. However, since we did, he will provide depth at both MIKE and WILL and be a contributor on special teams. As for Williams, he was a 4th rounder and right now has proven to be able to fill in and be a very good special teamer. He can also be HH's future replacement a SAM... and SAM might actually be Williams best fit since his best attribute has been his ability to take on blocker. He leaves a lot to be desired in his pass coverage. Briggs however is a proven player, and would provide us with insurance if Urlacher gets injured.

to bad he can't cure his glass leg... or his scum-bag attitude.

I liked Berrian and would have wished him the best if he signed outside of the NFC North, but since he signed with the Vikings, I hope he sucks monkey balls.
-
They already fixed their DLine with Williams and Rogers.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7860874...-to-6-year-deal 6 year deal, $$$ not known yet.

per ESPN. Good signing by them... depending on the cash. Provides a good speed/deep threat to compliment Edwards.

freak Berrian. I like him as a player but as a person, he's just a money hungry pig. There is nothing more that I hate when a player says all this crap about being a Bear and wanting to stay and then go sign with a division rival because they offered the most money. freak him. The really bad thing is that this signing is gonna make the Vikings that much better, Rice and Berrian form a very good receiver duo for Jackson to go along with their power running game. If you add a TE like Shockey, that offense has a lot of potential not only on the ground, but through the air.

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/7859190...-Bill-for-picks The Jags got what seems to be the going rate in a 3rd and 5th rounder. Good deal for the Bills, decent for the Jags. The Jags have depth at DT so the loss won't be that big, but Stroud was a real good player for them... but will he ever be the same after his injury?

If we lose Briggs AND Ayanbadejo, I can see Williams brought in on the cheap to compete at WILL, add depth, and play special teams.
-
I am beginning to think that next year we will see St. Clair as our LG and we will draft someone to play RT.
-
Well, if we are going to go into a rebuilding mode, it makes sense to lock up our current players in Berrian and Briggs... Lets hope we get lucky and both of them back.
-
you've gotta be insane if you actually think Stallworth is better then Berrian. A player that is about to be with his 4th team in as many years should tell you something.
-
Rogers headed over to Cleveland for CB Bodden and a 3rd round draft choice. Now, the Browns are going to add both Pat Williams (traded their 2nd to the Packers for him) and Rogers to their DLine in one season. Rogers will obviously play NT for them and Williams DE (even though he could be a good fit at NT as well). Their DLine was a big problem coming into the offseason, but that problem has been eliminated. However, I do not think the Browns have a pick in the first 3 rounds.
-
I like Johnson and would have no problem with him being our no. 2 as he still has a ton of potential as he has never had a chance to actually prove himself, but I'd much rather have Berrian still being a bear.
-
yeah, lets sign glass legs to bitch about not getting the ball or having to compete.
-
I think the Browns will regret keeping Anderson over Quinn.
-
I don't know about that, as Urlacher will likely finish his HOF career in Chicago and if JA and Lovie do some serious drafting and scouting, we could be back to being top contenders in 3-4 years, and I think Urlacher has at least 4-5 seasons left in him.
-
With the lack of activity in the offseason and the team's willingness of letting starters like Berrian and Briggs go, as well as special team contributors like Ayanbadejo and Gilmore, I am thinking more and more that JA and the Bears are going to spend the next season or two rebuilding the team to make them better for the future rather then putting all our resources into just for the next year or two. I can't say this is a bad idea, but it would suck to see the Bears suck for a year or two, if not more. But with the young talent and future the Lions, Vikings, and Packers have, we might not be able to compete in the NFC North for more then maybe a year or two.
-
would have liked to keep him, but odds are he got signed to a deal more then he was worth to us.
-
it was stupid not to franchise Berrian. Everyone knew Berrian was going to get a big contract, so why not just franchise him? 1 year at 8 million is not that bad especially compared to 24 million over the first 3 years like Berrian is gonna get. I am starting to think that JA and the org. are going to go into a rebuilding mode, not a push for the playoffs/superbowl mode.
-
I would have liked Faneca, but let the Jets have the 32 year old for all that money.
