  1. I like Petrino and don't think this season was his fault, and I think it was the right move to resign... Atlanta's hosed.
  2. well, with all this new stuff, I vote that we add the bearbang to the list of emoticons Also, with this site getting bigger (btw, how many more would you expect to join from the old board?), and with the bowl games, offseason, and draft coming up, I vote for a College Football sub-forum and a Draft subforum...
  3. Tommie Harris has 7 sacks this season and he hasn't been near 100% all season. Walker is no Harris, but Walker ain't worth the money he will be receiving, injuries or no injuries. He has lost a lot of burst. And as for Adams, he has played extremely well. He is stuffing the run, and is pretty much the only guy we have that can on the line.
  4. well, if we have the money to spend in the offseason, which I think we will, I'd love to see Corey Williams, DT Packers, brought in. He'll cost some doe, but won't break the bank, and getting him weakens the Pack. Plus, he can get pressure from the NT position, as evident with his 7 sacks this season, and that is also something we have been looking for. I really like Dvoracek, but he can't be counted on, and Adams is our run stuffer. I hope Kennedy does good, as well as Baba (who I really liked a 2 years ago in the draft, was considered a 1st day prospect but fell to the 6th), but I ain't holding me breath.
  5. Williams is overrated, IMO. Not a huge fan. I don't think he has anywhere near the amount of coverage skills to play the WILL. Perhaps the SAM, but we have HH there, and is underrated anyway. I think Williams is best served as the 4th LB and as a special teamer. Beekman should probably start, but with the fact that Anthony Oakley has been active while Beekman has been inactive should tell you something. I'd like to see Bradley and Hass as well.
  6. we also signed Baba Oshinowo.... man, when was the last time a Penn St. D-Lineman actually panned out?
  7. wait, so are you Gage? Ah yes, I see you are from Irvine, CA, so it has to be you!
  8. So, how many new members are here?
  9. Change!?!?!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Good work fellas!
  10. Brown is done as a bear. Really sad to see this happen, but his knee's/legs are glass. I still remember the day when he got his first season ending injury, back in 04 when he had that great game vs. the Pack but got injured. And now I am worried about our DT depth. Likely Garay gets signed off the practice squad. I'm really disappointed to see Dusty being done for the season, I thought he'd play a big role for us this season. But no way in hell he is gonna get cut unless he sucks next season, and I don't see that happening for someone with his type of attitude and energy. And this is his 1st REAL season ending injury. The one last year wasn't really anything major, but foot surgery and he would have been back in about 6 weeks probably, but like a lot of rookie's he got put on the IR so no other team could claim him, like they did this season with Bazuin and Okwo.
  11. You know just because a RB didn't put up great numbers doesn't mean it's his fault. Most forget that the OFFENSIVE LINE determine if a RB can put up good numbers or not. Yesterday, in terms of run blocking, the O-Line was pretty horrible. Didn't hold blocks and made very little holes. When Benson did get a hole, he ran hard and got positive yardage. The only thing that seperates a good back from a great back is their vision, ability to make defenders miss (in the open field), and speed and athleticsm. Look at LT yesterday, without question he is the best RB in football. But he didn't do squat in the run game because he had no holes or running room. However, the fumbles have got to stop. Him and Peterson. Actually, if anything, I am more worried about our backup's more then our starter.
  12. worst case scenario this season, NFC Championship losers.
  13. I forget which the Bears do. I think Lovie picks the captains, but I know a lot of teams have unanimous player votes to determine captains. And for some reason I forgot about Tillman and Vasher. Between those two, I'd say Tillman. Ogunleye, probably not.
  14. two defensive captains, two offensive captains, and one special teams captain.
  15. I know it seems kinda strange, but I was thinking, who takes his spot as defensive captain if he is indeed down as a Bear. My vote goes to Tommie Harris.
  16. Now, Grossman doesn't get all the blame, but he gets a lot of it. First off, how do you get sacked twice right in the face? That baffles me. Also, today showed me Rex Grossman is not a Superbowl (winning) QB. He just doesn't have "it", he can't lead a team on his back. And would it kill him to make some audibles sometime? I WOULD love to see him make an audible. I'm not talking Peyton Manning audibles, but just adjust to the defense. Also, the O-Line did a great job of giving Rex time in the pocket vs. such a good pass rushing team, but their run blocking was just so f'ing bad. Benson had pretty much no holes, but I was impressed on how well he ran when he did get an opening. However, he can't freaking cough up the ball like that, same with Peterson. Those fumbles are about as frustrating as Grossman's dropped snaps. And the time of possession was just terrible. The bright spot today, the Defense rocked and gets an A+++ from me. They held the best RB, bar none, in the NFL to only 27 rushing yards or whatever, and don't let them score until pretty much the 4th quarter. And both of SD's scoring drives came after f'n turnovers. The Defense was terrific, that's all I can say. When you hold the what was the best offense in football (last season) to only 14 points, that's a game you win.
  17. The loss of Mike Brown hurts, but Manning IS a good cover guy, but he doesn't have the insticts Brown does yet. I could live with Manning being our FS with Archuletta being next to him more then I could with Manning being our FS with Harris as the SS. The thing we will miss most from Brown is his leadership. But yeah, he is likely done as a Bear. Hopefully Manning can really step it up this season and take away FS as a possible draft need next year. And I think you are severly underestimating what Dusty brings to this team. He brings energy and rotating him and Adams in helps keep Harris AND Walker fresh late in games. With that being said, what is wrong with Dusty anyway?
  18. nobody but bear fans and bronco fans are rooting for the bears.
  19. http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/20309 Hell yeah!
  20. of those so called "experts", John Clayton is the only one who isn't a f-ing Dumbass.
  21. The Saints are this years Panthers for all the "experts" this season, and we all know how that turned out. I don't know what it is, but it is like the sports world has a personal vendetta against the Bears and White Sox.
  22. Okwo and Bazuin would get very little time this season if any at all, just the numbers game. And spots like theirs have to go do the players most ready to contribute. And you can't put them on the PS because they'd get snagged up right away, so the only option is to IR them. Next year Okwo will be backing up Jamar Williams, and Bazuin will take Alex Brown's role (that he has this year, swing backup DE). Plus, you can't judge a draft until at least 3 years down the line.
  23. actually, Allen might count against the PS... I don't know.
