I'm not giving up on this team as constituded (ms) untill next year. It is what it is and does not look like a winner at this place in time. It's one and done for all of them. And as a side note I just want to thank the NFL for not canceling the start of free agency and the new year. With the world out of control and all the doom and glom it's nice to have something to take our minds off of it. Gives me a reason to still care about sports for now. And thanks to all you yahoos on here and be safe where ever you all are.
-
For me, bottom line. If one of them comes out as above average next year we have hope going forward. If they both crash and burn we can both Pace and Nagy and start a true rebuild with a clean slate of draft picks. And a few good players still on the roster. For almost 60 years I've watched this team for only one reason. Defense and a hope the offense would get up to par. Why change that now. smh
-
Well now I can shut up. Could be the best case considering everything. Knows the system and will at the worst be a competent backup if the wheels fall off
-
In today's state of things. Not being able to have team Dr,s Give a physical I don't know how you would sign Cam without a get our of jail clause which would hold up the whole process. And also knowing he had to change his whole throwing motion the year before and never had time to work on it is just way to many red flags

From my ignorant point of view. Meaning I have no knowledge of what I speak. QB to me is the number one problem. We only have one and I don't believe he is better than anyone out there signed already. OF line is next to protect who ever ends up back there. Yes we would of had to try some cheaper options as in TE and OLB. But I think the D would still of been good. Now if Mitch can get up to average or better. And I don't mean just in stats but maybe bringing up the play of those around him then they are doing things the right way. But we still need two QB's and OL help in a bad way. So maybe the last man standing is Winston and we get him. That would at least be can't miss TV.
-
So what your saying is let's throw away the next three-four years of a good defense and start the whole process again? Just seems like the Bears are again going to waste an above average defense with coulda, shoulda, QB decisions.
-
Based on cap estimates, which I have no idea who's right. I have read they have at most is 15mil. Now they of course will redo some contracts etc. But what QB's that are free agents are still worth signing to even be a backup. And I just don't see trading for almost any of the ones available. Dalton. Foles, Newton, and maybe Carr. I just don't see any way they can improve their QB play and will be lucky to get a backup better than Daniels was. I can't believe they would sign Newton or Brady. What say you?
-
He's only two years older than Mack. And almost everyone here wanted a replacement for Floyd and almost for the same price just a few years longer. And with the Graham pickup, though I think for way to much money, and with most of the free agent QB's gone or on their way. They might be thinking they are stuck with Mitch for next year and hope their D can get shut-outs every game. Could be a long season of three an out on D and off. smh

Hard to believe Keenum and Mariota went on the first day. If they sign anyone now who can truly compete it's not going to come cheap.
-
Wow who would of thunk. Would of been much happier taking a flyer on one of the oft injured TE's on a two year deal and draft one early
-
Ditto also. But I would prefer Dalton if you can get him for a very low draft pick 6-7 or none at all. Even with his higher cost.

All's good. And yea I believe you can never have to many blue chip OL or DLmen. And what happened to Pace's long ago statement that you should get a QB in the draft every year. One in five?

I was in no way calling you out. I was going to start a new thread with just my somewhat tongue in cheek post. All of use have at one point or another suggested getting rid of multiple players. I think the only players who have not been included most of the times are Goldman, Hicks, Mack, and Jackson. Hell I even at one point said if we're going to tear down most of the roaster maybe we should see what we can get for Mack. "I havent heard anyone here say that Leno is GOOD. The only argument I hear is that he has $7Mil of dead cap space so we have to keep him. If you beleive, as I do, that our entire season fell apart because of Leno, then it is foolish to trade a whole season away for $7Mil in cap room." However I could not disagree more that their entire season fell apart because of Leno. Yea he had moments as did almost every player and coach. But the problems last season were much bigger that to pin it on one player

So let me see if I've got this right. Seems like many on here want to get rid of half of our OL. Both of our return men. One of which has the 2nd best record in the history of the NFL if I'm correct. Half of our linebackers. Most of our TE's. We've already lost one of our cornerbacks, and WR's. Will most likely lose one safety. Get rid of the owner, GM and head coach. And we only have six draft picks and around 26 mil in cap space? Oh and we're paying over 5 mil in dead cap. Sounds like a really total rebuild from the ground up. Oh and get rid of the only GB we have signed for next year. What am I missing
-
The only option I see is keep Mitch holding out hope that he turns things around. But you have to bring in some one who is more than just a back up. We lost last year we can't do that again.
-
And that's why I suggested loser has to just sit back and listen to he winner do some trash talking for the season. Just bragging rights. Nothing more nothing less just some fun.
-
I'm getting a pain in my ass and head just trying to read the rotoworld story. The writer is way smarter then I have or ever will be. But Tom Brady has not been elite for sometime. I understand his thought process though.
-
How about this for a wager. The loser is not allowed to mention his name or position for the rest of the season.
-
Funny. Maybe we could get the other guy who does all the mayhem slots for Allstate. He might work on the defense for F... up the play type of player.
-
Sounds like another dart thrown at the board hoping to hit the center. But it's better that nothing. How many TE's are now on the roster sorta. Ten. I just don't see them letting Burton go unless in a trade. Not going to pay another 7mil for someone not on the roster. I assume you got the y and u mixed Mongo or what am I missing.
-
Or dumb luck.
-
He is interesting. But how much would they be willing to let him go for? We don't have any draft capital this year and I'm tired of giving away future picks for players. Just a tough place to be in. For almost 60 years I've watched one GB after the other lay an egg for the Bears. You would think blind luck could do better!

"This is truly the year where we find out about Trubisky. There are literally no more excuses. If you count college and pro seasons, he will be in his 5th, in the system, his 3rd. We will know by the 3rd game if he is the problem." Boy I hope he can turn things around. If not we're back to square one with perhaps a new GM and HC. We don't have the assets to bring in any QB besides a one or two year rental if any out there are any better anyway. It's who we got or were sunk
