I can't believe I keep reading Marty Booker's name as if adding him to our team would be a positive. Dude is old, slow, and on his downslide. BB is young, fast, and on his upswing. I don't care about all the hate have for BB for whatever reasons, he runs all the routes you ask him to, even over the middle, and makes big plays. Sure he got lackadaisical(or I guess you could say gave up)on a handful of routes last year, and dropped some big passes, but the guy is good, and having him on our team only makes us better, and losing him only makes us worse. That's really all it comes down to for me.

Hey there! Long time, no post. Anyway. Here's the thing about Williams. I love the kid's athleticism, and pass protection skills. However, he is still very raw, and all finesse as a run blocker. He will get lost after making his initial block on run plays, and if you watched Vandy, or even just look at their highlight tapes, he will get past the line of scrimmage and his first block REALLY well, but then run upfield without a purpose and forget to pickup another man to block. I seriously would love to add him to out team, but 14 is a bit high for him IMO. If we could(and you know JA very well may) trade down into the 20's, and get him and get another pick, that would be fantastic. Anyways, I see they have us taking my guy Devin Thomas at 76, and that would be the best..... the absolute freakin greatest. Too bad he won't last that long, and after workouts, could even pull neck-and-neck with the top rated WR's in this class. Also, there is a lot of guys ranked way out of position like Dajuan Morgan at 143? Pretty cool little matrix draft, but as has been said, it takes the human element out, which just kind of makes it a glorified top 224 players list(albeit a pretty accurate to team needs one).

Beat ya to it by a couple hours, see two posts above yours.

Well he has a torn ACL, so I dont think he's going to be signed to anyones 53 man any time soon.
-
The only pure tool that Stanton has that is better than Rex is height. Decision making is a question with both of them, but we do know Rex can make all the throws when he makes the right decision. Some of these are just too laughable. Kitna in the top 10 is just the icing on the cake.

ESPN is reporting Brown has agreed in principal to a one year deal with the Titans.

Well, he tore his ACL, so they save some cap space, and likely/hopefully sign him to a futures/reserve deal. Femi isnt a great lead-blocker, which is all I care about from the FB position. I really hope JD can develop for us if we keep him around somehow, because he could easily have been our best pure lead-blocker, and definitely was our best pure athlete back there. I just want a young, mean SOB back there with some talent for creating holes for his HB. Mckie is basically the same type of guy as Femi, not terribly talented, but a lunch pale type guy, who can catch a couple passes out of the back field, and be just adequate as a run blocker.

Tommie isnt an FA until after 08', so that automatically puts the others including Peanut and Vasher ahead of him for now. We do however have to set aside the huge deal Tommie will likely get before we step into any negotiations with the other guys, but I'm sure that has been done for some time now. I don't know the cap system inside and out, so maybe someone can tell me if we are allowed to go over the cap to retain players and just pay a luxury tax?
-
Tillman, Vasher, and BB. Then there's Tommie and a few others after 08'. I would sign Tillman and BB yesterday, Vasher can stay depending on what his demands are.

Both four year deals. Good news, but expected news. LINKY

I'm not sure about Okwo for one reason. His commencement isn't until June, but his classes finish by the end of May. I don't know the rule there.
-
I expect both Beekman and Okwo to be signed very soon. Stanford is still in session, and I'd wager to say that's the only reason why Okwo hasnt been inked already, and BC just had their commencement a couple days ago.
-
We also signed Graham and McBride to four year deals in the last few days.

Paul Oliver to enter the Supplemental Draft.

This si funny. We had an 08' mock over at condraft a while ago, and one of the guys I talk to a lot over there was considering taking him in the early teens over Cason. We both agreed that he can be the best CB of the draft, but will probably be passed over a bit because of his age(would have been 24 entering the draft next year). Dude SHUT DOWN Calvin Johnson last year, and has all the tools to be a great DB in the NFL. I would love to swoop on him. I wonder if anyone will drop a first rounder for him, and while I don't feel a first rounder for a CB would be wise for us right now, I certainly wouldnt complain with picking up Oli for a second. -
Rookie Camp- For Garrett Wolfe, the proof is in the results

Not at all with JA. Our previous three third rounders DD, BB, and Briggs all inked 4 year deals. -
LINKY Good news. I hope they still give him a few reps at CB in practice once in a while though.

Well he looked pretty damn good in the preseason games he was part of last season. Oh well. Too bad the guy can't stay healthy. LINKY

Having watched Okwo in person, and a lot of PAC 10 games in general including Stanford, I can tell you he is getting a raw deal from everybody. He is MUCH faster than his workout numbers show, and will really surprise you with how athletic he really is. He is also a FREAK in the strength department too. He reminds me a lot of Terna Nande, but with much better instincts, smarts, and much better play along the line and against blockers. He launched Brandon Rodd like five yards backwards when Rodd was lead blocking for Torain, and he was running full speed at Michael. He was the only person on on Stanford who stood out, and really outclassed his entire team even while they were taking a pounding from the Devils. I promise you, he is a much better athlete than his workouts show, and if youve seen him play, you would know that. He is a legit sideline-to-sideline threat, great in pursuit, excells in space, and his play along the line is very impressive. He is one of those guys you would describe as "skating" out on the field because he is so quick and smooth.

Reading a bit more about Staggs, and he sounds like a real quality pickup. He was UNLV's Defensive MVP, and a guy who people describe as always improving and hard working.
-
Here's some more. LINKY James is a very interesting prospect. As is Wheeler. Wheeler actually had a pretty damn impressive workout.. Love his size, and triangle numbers. Staggs is another intersting guy. Here's his pro day numbers....

Here's another interesting, and very favorable way to look at the TJ-NYJ-SD trade. Lets compare trades here. The Bills traded McGahee to Baltimore for the team's third and seventh-round picks in this year's draft, and Ravens' third-round pick in 2008. We traded TJ for a move up one spot in the second, a third (just a few after the one the Bills recieved), and a fifth this year (two round better than the one the Bills received), AND a likely very equal third rounder next year. Now if I were to ask you which RB you thought could bring in more via trade, who would you say? JA is the man.

I know, I saw. I just thought I would 'splain what I meant. My ideal scenario with Hester at WR. We keep teaching him the CB position, as we have some of the best in the business, not onlyin coaches to teach him, but in players ahead of him to emulate, and learn from. Not to mention his mentor can teach him a hell of a lot about how to maximize his skills and apply them at the position. While doing that, we also ease him into the offense with a small playbook. Nothing overwhelming, just teach him how to run routes, and have him learn some set plays. I still am where I stood last year at this time when it comes to our WR group. I really like the piece swe have in place there, and am not nearly as down on them as everyone else seems to be. Where we need to go next year at the position(in regards to the draft) largely depends on Bradley and Currie and their ability to stay on the field and makes plays, but both are the type of player who's impact could be worth the wait.

Soxfan1 originally had him as Bryant in his post, and it was on the board two other places in draft summary's as Bryant as well.
