  1. Duane Brown, LT (SEA), Bryan Bulaga, RT (LAC), Eric Fisher, LT (IND), Darryl Williams, RT (BUF), Riley Reiff, RT (CIN), and Nate Solder, LT (NYG) are still available at tackle. I would be fine with either of these guys: Darryl Williams, RT (BUF), 30 yrs old, 97.8% of snaps Eric Fisher, LT (IND), 31 yrs old, 78.5% of snaps Adding an OT vet would really solidify the line. That would give Borom, Jenkins, and/or Jones more time to develop.
  2. I am totally good with Borom, Whitehair, Patrick, Schofield, Jenkins with Braxton Jones and Mustipher as the backups. PFF is really terrible. It is not hard to find pressures/sacks allowed and penalties with snap counts. Schofield is above average at pass blocking and average at run blocking. We will more than likely run to the left and to both edges more than going behind Schofield, which is fine.
  3. He has started 81 games in his career with only 5 total false starts and 5 holding penalties. In comparison, Daniels started 48 games and has had 4 false starts and 5 holding penalties, almost twice the rate. Schofield is not going to be a Pro Bowl caliber player, but he is an upgrade over Mustipher and Dozier for sure. The remaining interior players that had over 75% of their teams snaps in 2021 include: Flowers, Tretter, Spain, Price, Hopkins, and Schofield. Spain was terrible, Flowers has always been overrated and overpaid. So Schofield seems like the best fit for the price. An upgrade that will not break the bank. He is also a Chicago native from Orland Park.
  4. This would be a huge signing. He was one of the RGs I wanted at the beginning of free agency once they missed out on Bates. Very reliable and not many penalties. Would be a plug-and-play RG and instant upgrade there. A Whitehair-Patrick-Schofield interior would be very solid and an upgrade at basically 2 positions from last year (Patrick > Mustipher, Schofield > Daniels).
  5. He was different once he got paid. It was long before he took a year off.
  6. TE is going to be an interesting group to watch. With Blasingame in as FB, the TEs probably lose the JP Holtz spot. That leaves Kmet, Griffin, O'Shaughnessy and probably Chase Allen. If they consider Harry as a TE, they may only go with 3 traditional TEs, which seems very low.
  7. Yeah it is pretty silly considering the Bears will more than likely roll out a run heavy offense. Fields would have to throw a ton to have the most INTs. Does it really matter though? Do you know who led the league last year, Stafford, who won the Super Bowl. Lawrence was tied with him but Stafford had less attempts.
  8. Rookies report on the 23rd, vets on the 26th. This felt like a very long offseason.
  9. The more I look into some numbers, the more I think Pringle is going to have a big year. I had no clue he was #2 in the NFL in separation and 2nd in the NFL in DVOA for WRs. Two totally different stats, but really bode well for the Bears. In comparison, Hardman had the same separation but was 40th in DVOA. I really like the mix of WRs the Bears have. They aren't carbon copies of each other. With the addition of Harry, it is going to be a very competitive race for WR4-6 with Mooney, Pringle, and Jones locked into 1-3. Sharpe, Pettis, St. Brown, and Harry are now fighting for 2-3 spots. St. Brown knows Getsy's offense. Pettis was with WR Coach in NY, Harry has the size and pedigree. It is going to be interesting. I think St. Brown sticks because he has played STs, which is critical for backup WRs. We also have to think about PR and KR. St. Brown - 6'5", 214 (ST?) Harry - 6'4", 225 Sharpe - 6'2", 194 Pringle - 6'1", 203 (WR2) Pettis - 6'1", 195 Moore - 6'0", 219 Jones - 6'0", 200 (WR3) Mooney - 5'11", 180 (WR1) Newsome - 5'10", 184 Webster - 5'10", 180 (KR/PR?)
  10. Patrick started for the Packers. Morrow is only a year removed from starting. Muhammad started for the Colts. Gipson could easily start as Edge2 for several teams. On offense I would say: Fields, Monty, Kmet, Whitehair, Patrick, Mooney, Pringle On defense: Muhammad, Gipson, Quinn, Smith, Morrow, Johnson, Gordon, Brisker There are 704 starters in the NFL on offense and defense, the players I listed above are easily in the top 500. Santos could easily start on most other teams as well.
  11. They both can be, Pringle is 6'1" 200 lbs, Harry is 6'4" 225 lbs. Mooney is 5'11" 180 lbs. Mooney is not built for the underneath stuff.
  12. Mooney is not really an inside route guy, Harry seems to fill that roll. Quick slant stuff. Once he gets the inside shoulder he can win the route.
  13. I felt like this deserved its own thread. He comes over from the Pats, been in the doghouse for most of his career. This is what they were saying about him before last season: It looks like the Pats tried to have him do too much. If the Bears can shrink his responsibilities and routes, he may be more productive.
  14. Hopefully, the new system will do him well. Was any publication calling the 2021 Patriots WR Corps the worst in football, or going to hurt Jones's development? The Pats top 4 WRs in 2021: Meyers, Bourne, Agholor, and Harry. Compare that to the 2022 Bears WRs: Mooney, Pringle, Jones, Pettis, Sharpe, St. Brown, and Harry Really odd that they are crapping on the Bears when that is what Jones had with Hunter Henry as the lead TE in 2021. Bears have Kmet. RBs - Harris/Stevenson vs Monty/Herbert It feels like Fields will have better options than Jones had last year, and it will be Fields' 2nd year. Jones threw for 3800 and 22 TDs. It seems like that is Fields floor to me.
  15. Wow, I am shocked he is under 4.55, he looks really slow and yes, slow out of his breaks for sure. It would be awesome if he could turn into an Alshon Jeffery like player. He has the size.
  16. Yeah I agree, worth a flyer on for sure.
  17. Harry looks really slow, in his "highlights" video, everything is a contested catch. Hopefully he works out but I don't have my hopes up.
  18. I thought this was interesting. Considering it is a 17-game season, most people see the Bears going 6-11 or worse. With the Bears schedule, it seems like this would be less likely than the over, but if Fields doesn't take a leap in his 2nd season, then it seems way more likely.
  19. I don't see this as a big deal. This is the dead period where very little happens besides arrests, so as long as that is not occurring, we are good to go.

    Gordon Signs

They try to make subjective analysis into objective analysis by calling it a grade. They are more art than science. It always cracks me up because they don't know the play call, the routes, the hots, audibles, blocking scheme, etc, but somehow say X player did something good/bad/right/wrong.

    Gordon Signs

Backend is going to be a strength and will cause a lot more turnovers than we have had in a few years.
  22. Very true, but not Kmet's fault. He did what he was asked to do. However, he got basically zero RZ targets last year. Also, hard to score on 10-yard hitch routes from the 40.
  23. Nagy + Graham. That's why it wasn't. Even with inept playcalling and a QB carousel, he was still a top 12 TE.
  24. Nagy took him out in the RZ in favor of Graham. So I would expect a slight bump in targets, receptions and yards and a huge jump in TDs.

    Mooney Interview

Fangio was the only reason 2018 happened. Look at Nagy's team without Fangio, they were lucky to 8-8 in back to back years. Nagy ended up 22-27 without Fangio and it is still amazing he won 22 games. So if Mooney felt like that, can you imagine Fields as a rookie QB who doesn't get any reps in the offseason with the 1s?
