Current interviews planned: Leslie Frazier Doug Pederson Brian Daboll Nathaniel Hackett Todd Bowles
-
I would happy with Daboll or Hackett if they decide to go young coordinator, nor would I be opposed to Bowles or Pederson. I think all 4 are better than Nagy. Hackett would be the most scary because you really don't know what the team would look like without Rodgers at the helm. So I would put him 4th. What is interesting to me, it seems that there are enough good candidates this year that the Bears almost can't mess this up (please pin this comment to roast me later).

Daboll from Buffalo:

Hackett from GB.

Mongo, well said. That's why I would rather take someone from a winning organization. However, it has to be the right guys. Pace came from NO and Nagy came from KC and they both underperformed.
-
He was flat out dominant. That would be a 180 for how most of our current safeties play.
-
Yeah, I didn't include him in that category as an active CFB Coach, but: Harbaugh 44-19-1, 5-3 in the post season, 3 winning seasons and no losing seasons, and 1 SB loss. He would clearly be the best option in terms of past success. His worst season was 8-8. He did that with Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick. His QBs had an 82-31 TD/INT Ratio over 4 seasons.

Me too. Here is how Flores, Pederson, and Frazier compare with other veteran coaches that are available (in order of winning %): 1. Zimmer is 72-56-1 in the regular season and 2-3 in the postseason with 4 winning seasons in 8 years. 2. Pagano is 53-43 in the regular season and 3-3 in the postseason with 3 winning seasons in 6 years. 3. Pederson is 42-37-1 in the regular season and 4-2 in the postseason with 1 SB win and 3 winning seasons in 5 years. 4. Nagy is 34-31 in the regular season and 0-2 in the postseason with 1 double doink and 1 winning season in 4 years. 5. O'Brien 52-48 in the regular season and 2-4 in the postseason with 5 winning seasons in 6 1/4 years. 6. Quinn is 43-42 in the regular season and 3-2 in the postseason with 1 SB loss (28-3) and 2 winning seasons in 5 1/2 years. 7. Flores is 24-25 in the regular season and has never made the postseason and had 2 winning seasons in 3 years. 8. Frazier is 21-32-1 in the regular season and 0-1 in the playoffs, with 1 winning season in 3 years. 9. Fangio is 19-30 in the regular season and no winning seasons in 3 years. 10. McDaniels is 11-17 in the regular season and no winning seasons in 2 years.

Thoughts on the Browns roster? They have had so many #1 picks, it's hard to gauge. I mean, when you are getting 2 picks in the top 35, and 3 picks in the top 70 every year, an auto-draft could do what they have done.
-
Oh really, I am going to have to read up on it. I didn't follow MIA much outside of their games.
-
Congrats on the move, you are going to love the weather. I lived in El Paso for 6 years, which is slightly cooler than PHX. BTW, your wish has been granted BearFan PHX

How could Miami think they could do better with another coach? It was the roster all along.
-
I am shocked that the Dolphins fired Flores. Somehow Rhule and Judge have jobs. Miami went 10-6 and 9-8 the last two years with a terrible roster, in the AFC East with Buffalo and NE. They got rid of Tannehill, gave Flores Fitzpatrick and Tua and expected more than 19-14 in the last two years. That is wild.

It's a great day in Bear Country. I am so happy they moved on from both Pace, Nagy, and Phillips. It was time.

Here are players post-game discussing it:

All he had to do was beat Jacksonville in a meaningless game for them, and he burps a fart. I still can't believe the Colts missed the playoffs. The Bears are no different than the Chargers, Colts, Ravens, Browns, Saints or Vikings, they all missed the playoffs. Just a crazy sequence to end the season and the Bears benefit from so many bad teams winning, boosting their draft slot a few places. So back to Indy, when is Chris Ballard going to get any bad press? Wentz was their answer, just like Rivers was before. The Colts traded the 16th pick in the 2022 draft for Wentz, they missed the playoffs, and owe Wentz 103M. Philly relieved themselves of Wentz, made the playoffs without him, and have 3x first round picks. Wow Philly is dealing.

Wow, first off, I love Brandon Staley. Did anyone else see the Chargers Raiders game? If they tied, both would make the playoffs due to IND's loss. Well LAC scored a last-second TD and forced overtime (they didn't go for 2). Then in OT they swapped FGs and with the game tied and the Raiders at the LAC39 with 38 seconds left (and a running clock), Staley called a timeout. It was clear to everyone in the world that the Raiders were content to run out the clock and take a tie. It would've been a 56 yard FG from there and the risk of a block or something bad happening was too high. They even said this after the game. They were actually going to take a knee! So he calls a timeout, which gives the Raiders more time for an extra play because they only had one timeout left. So after the LAC TO, on the next play they let up a 10 yard run to Jacobs who they knew was running, then the Raiders called a timeout and kicked the GW FG from the 29. Unbelievable. Somehow the Chargers missed the playoffs. They were 8-5 and lost 3 of their last 4 (lost to HOU). Just an unbelievable sequence. The Steelers made the playoffs. The Colts missed the playoffs (lol Wentz). Cleveland and Baltimore missed the playoffs. Such a weird year in the AFC. All IND had to do was beat JAX to make the playoffs and they lost. BAL was 8-3 and lost their last 6. CLE lost 3 of their last 4.

Yep, the Bears loss dropped them to #7. ATL was already a win ahead, so they only came into play with a Bears win.
-
Borom was terrible. Jenkins looked really solid. Still unsure why they didn't play Graham because he looked good when he was in there. Instead they let Christian and Jackson get torched the entire second half.
-
Just odd that he randomly quits on some plays.
-
Yep and in the end, it was probably the best scenario as ATL, SEA, and WFT all won. So the Bears are the lone 6-11 team and will have the 7th pick in every round. That is pick 39 in the 2nd, and pick 71 in the 3rd. So the Bears top two picks are 39 and 71.
-
If SEA ends up with the same record as the Bears, depending on SOS, the Bears may draft 7th, which would give them the 8th pick in the 2nd round (#40). So it is better for the Bears to get #8 in the first as they would get the 7th pick in the 2nd (teams rotate picks with same record). So I am hoping for #8 and #39.
