  1. The cap crisis is if you just look at dead money. However, if they restructure a few contracts, the dead money won't be much different than this year and Fields still on his rookie deal. The SB window is Field's year 3-4-5. That is the sweet spot. So I think they are targeting 2023-2025 as the current window. This year and next year are transition years as they flip the roster while trying to stay somewhat competitive. It also makes sense from a draft pick perspective. The next first rounder is 2023.
  2. Did he miss some throws, sure, did he hold onto the ball too long, yes. However, that's it, Nagy did zero to help out his young QB. It would've been better if you had a monkey mashing on a Playstation controller in Madden than what Nagy did on Sunday. The game should have started out run, run, screen. Then run, run, RPO. Then run, RPO, pass. Nagy did nothing to stop the pass rush from dialing it into "meet at the QB". Dalton would've made 2-3 more completions than Fields by getting the ball out of his hands quicker, but that's it. Dalton would've been sacked 7 times. The O-Line was terrible, but there are ways to mask the deficiencies. If Peters is better at run blocking, scheme a bunch of runs his way and move the pocket away from him with roll outs. Just by listening to Nagy's news conferences, he comes across as a dumb jock, no offense to dumb jocks. He is cocky, thinks he knows it all, and his way is best, yet he doesn't realize he is the bald guy with a red nose on.
  3. Soldier Field capacity: 61,500, smallest in the NFL. Largest holds 82,500, 20K less fans per game. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_current_National_Football_League_stadiums It would be awesome to actually tailgate like other fans can at the stadium. For me, living in Alabama, I could get season tickets, fly in and out on Sunday much easier from O'Hare to the stadium.
  4. What is sad is nothing has changed. Same ole song and dance from the team. Until there is a drop in ticket sales, season ticket holders, etc, they have no reason to care.
  5. This is long overdue. So many positives other than the nostalgia of playing at Soldier Field.
  6. Loser Bowl #1. 10 pts wins. Will the Bears offense get to 100 yards of total offense? Will Nagy continue play-calling duties? A lot of storylines, none of them good for the Bears. Oh by the way, only favored by 3 at home vs the Lions means you suck. If Nagy is calling plays, Lions 17-9 If Nagy is not calling the plays, Bears 24-13 If Nagy is fired before the game, Bears 63-0
  7. Fields got zero time with the 1's the entire offseason. How would he know "he is ready" for anything? Then the first two weeks of the season, you have him run scout team. Then with a week of prep, Nagy did nothing with the game plan to highlight Fields abilities. Nagy is literally an idiot, and that is probably offensive to idiots. He has no clue what he is doing and does not belong in the NFL. He road Fangio's defense that forced 36 takeways in 2018 then was able to mask it by putting the blame elsewhere while the team underachieved in 2019 and 2020. Now what is the excuse? Does he know the "why"?
  8. That's the thing. The organization kept both of their contracts "secret", which is really odd. However, after that game if you can't see that Nagy is problems 1a, 1b, and 1c, then I don't know what to tell you. You could've just told Fields to go out there, hike the ball on 3, and just make a play, and the results would've been better. That was the worst offensive display I watched live in my lifetime. That is after watching this one: https://chicago.suntimes.com/bears/2019/11/3/20946611/bears-eagles-mitch-trubisky-matt-nagy-new-low-9-yards-offense-halftime-tarik-cohen-quarterback The common denominator is Matt freaking Nagy. The offensive mastermind has orchestrated two of the worst offensive performances in franchise history within the last 2 years.
  9. At this point, that's the only way he saves his job, because he can then blame the roster on Pace if the team struggles without him calling plays. However, he is arrogant as hell and I am sure won't look in the mirror and make that change. He will cite that it is too hard to do without the bye or something like that. I posted this on Twitter: "Since 2019, Bears are 7-17 when they don't win the turnover battle. " So the team basically only wins when they win the turnover battle (10-1). If you are completely turnover dependent, you are not winning due to anything but luck.

    Rookie QBs

Oh I agree. However, I think this shows you just how bad Nagy is than Fields. Could Fields have played better, absolutely, but within this offense and those play calls, I don't know how much better. We have Fields for a minimum of 4 years. Let's see what we got. Mitch got that. Nagy needs to go. Not a single play designed to help his QB out. Mitch was also never under that type of assault. Where is the max protect, the moving pocket? Garrett and Clowney knew exactly where they needed to go on every play.

    Rookie QBs

Lawrence and Wilson both with 7 INTs thru 3 games. On pace for 2nd most INTs thrown in a season. Essentially a historically bad start for both and they practiced with their 1s for months. Jones had 3 INTs today too.
  12. It's Nagy. Mitch wasn't the answer, but his play masked the terrible offensive structure. There is just so much to unpack. Receivers can't get open because they are not running routes where they can get open. They run into the teeth of the defense on every play. The defense had 5 DBs between 8-10 yards, and all the routes end between 8-10 yards. That happens on every pass play. Even the completions were contested. The Bears can't even get a yard if needed. 4th and 1 in the RZ, kick a FG. Odds of losing after that - 100%.
  13. This is all on Nagy, he should be fired for negligence. His handling of Fields is borderline criminal. One screen pass all game. Monty had 10 carries total. Where were the easy dink and dunk plays? Rollouts, bootlegs, moving the pocket? That was the worst coached game I think I have ever seen firsthand. It was embarrassing. Zero adjustments. The O-Line was getting manhandled because the plays were so predictable. All they had to do was run straight at Fields as fast as they could. Nothing made them stop or go lateral all game. I almost feel like Nagy did this on purpose so he can bring Dalton back next week. If Dalton plays again this year, Nagy has to be fired. I am ready for a new HC.
  14. The defense actually had a great game, 5 sacks and decent pressure all game. It's hard to be good when you are on the field for 39 mins. The TOP was 39 to 20 in favor of Cleveland. It was 13-6 after Nagy pusses out and goes for a FG. It should've been 13-10 going into the 4th. You could tell the defense was gassed in the 4th when Hunt took over. Chubb only had 3.8 yards a carry. Hunt is the one who did the damage late in the game. Even vs the Rams, they were only down 20-14 late in the 3rd before letting up 2 TDs that put the game out of reach. The defense does everything possible but then really shits the bed late. Cincy even had a late surge with 2 TDs. Opponents have outscored the Bears 34-13 in the 4th quarter in 3 games and 7 of the Bears pts is from Roquan Smith. So offense vs offense, 34-6. Sickening.
  15. This offense has mustered 3 TDs in 3 games and none in the last 7 quarters of play. The defense beat Cincy. Without the Smith Pick-6 the Bears are 0-3. If the Bears lose to the Lions next week, Nagy has to be fired.
  16. It's funny because creating offensive plays is not rocket science. There are 11 players on each side, you can create mismatches with route combos, personnel, and motion. Nagy doesn't use any of those. Every play is swallowed up, receivers can't get open because they literally run straight into a defender then turn around for the ball, which is easily defended every time. Watching the Bears offense is like watching a High School offense playing against an NFL defense. It's literally embarrassing.

    Rookie QBs

This was not a good week for rookie QBs, all of them lost and played bad: Fields 6-20, 68 yds, 0 TD vs CLE (0-1 as a starter) Wilson 19-35, 160 yds, 0 TD, 2 INT vs DEN (0-3 as a starter) Lawrence 22-34, 219 yds, 1 TD, 2 INT vs ARZ (0-3 as a starter) Jones 30-51, 270 yds, 1 TD, 3 INT vs NO (1-2 as a starter) Fields the only one without a INT. BTW, KC is 1-2 and last in their division. IND is 0-3 and somehow behind HOU in their division.
  18. The offense is painful to watch. Every play is a grind. Watch the rest of the NFL. They can move the ball. If the Bears lose next week, you have to consider firing Nagy. 1-3 and a loss to Detroit pretty much would end the season.
  19. I was late 70s, but I have to agree. Worst game plan, play calling I have ever seen first hand. Nagy needs to give up play calling or they need to fire him. Nothing has changed since he has arrived. The same offense that can't score. No one was open today, all routes ran right into defenders, zero misdirection, and no moving the pocket. The first screen pass was with 4 mins left in the game. Nagy needs to go.
  20. Defense finally breaks and lets up a TD. Down 7 at half. I have no confidence in Nagy to overcome a deficit.
  21. Wow the offense looks like crap. No one is open, Nagy has no clue what he is doing. Why is he keeping Fields in the pocket?
  22. Bears defense stops the Browns on 3rd Down and they settle for a FG. The defense can't play much better, so the offense needs to step up. Where are the easy quick slants? Roll-outs, bootlegs, move the pocket. Let's go Nagy.
  23. Nagy needs to go, this offense is so predictable. Every play there are 3-4 defenders at the ball.
