Every year is a new season. Right now, name a better top 4 from top to bottom with ARob, Mooney, Byrd, and Goodwin. Byrd was WR1 in NE, and Goodwin was a solid WR2 in SF 2 years ago. Ultimately you are replacing Miller and Wims with Byrd and Goodwin, that is a huge upgrade IMO.

Preseason is such a weird period. I want to see improvement and success but nowadays it seems like it is more for conditioning the vets and evaluating the roster competitions. They also don't want to give any tape that can be used against them, so you are not going to see much besides basic routes and vanilla coverages. There is zero correlation between preseason and regular season success. I believe the 0-16 Lions went 4-0 in the preseason. So it is probably best to take both the highs and lows with a grain of salt.

Good question. I don't think not playing him was due to a trade. They have a week to get this resolved.

So no ARob, no Mooney, no Kmet, Goodwin, or Monty. That is likely your top 5 skill position players. So it does make sense that the offense was bad. By the time Fields came out, he was playing with the 3rd-4th string skill position players. I am now more concerned about the defense. They allowed 31 pts in the first half, and then the defense pitched a shutout in the second half. The depth played better than the starters. Our Special Teams coverage units are a mess. If McManis is still available, I would be reaching out immediately. My concerns going into our last preseason game: 1. Defense Overall 2. Tackles 3. Coverage Units 4. Secondary 5. Quinn/Goldman

First Half Summary: Defense sucks. If they don't get better, we may not win a single game. Soft coverage and missed tackles. There was zero resistance against a Mitch Trubisky led offense. Scary. Dalton is terrible. I get that ARob and Monty are out, but man, the O-Line played OK, but he couldn't do anything once there was pressure. I hate that he got an entire half to look like shit. He had one big pass and that was all Adams catching the ball off the DBs helmet.
-
WELP, our defense sucks balls, WTH. They couldn't stop anything. What an embarrassment. 3 TDs in 19 minutes against Mitch Trubisky?
-
First drive, with Dalton, another 3 and out. He couldn't get the ball over the DLineman on a check down to Williams. Then stays in the pocket too long on 3rd Down and has to throw it away. It is hard to see Dalton being better than Foles from last year. Defense looks terrible on the first drive. They let Trubisky walk down the field with quick slants and never jumped the routes. That was odd, I don't know why they are not taking that away as that is all Trubisky can hit. Then on the TD run, Quinn and Jackson whiff on tackles. Not a good start by either unit.

Trubisky revenge game. Watch him go off and throw 3 TDs in the first half. That would suck lol. Guys I am watching besides Fields: Our Tackles, Herbert, Johnson (WR), Gipson (Edge), Attaochu, Blackson, Vildor Some interesting battles for the last few WR slots and CB2. Hopefully Mack doesn't kill Trubisky. GO BEARS Bears 27-17 Fields leads another win!

I am sure we will add another body. I think Okung and Wagner are still available.
-
Yeah this sucks for a 2nd rounder you traded up for. Now you use a year and he essentially becomes a rookie in 2022. I just hope this is not a long term issue.
-
Just put him on the PUP. He is taking up a roster spot for no reason. Injuries happen. If it can be corrected without surgery, let's go that route. I don't think this will be a Kevin White situation.

To me it seemed like Special Teams is going to be an issue. They need to bring back McManis. Fields started slow, but penalties and a drop didn't help. After that, Fields had 3 scoring drives. I like Ogletree, especially with how new he is. Tonga was visible, and Johnson finished strong.
-
He made the game slower which is impressive. He never got rattled with pressure. He made some mistakes early but you could tell he made adjustments in the game and then looked legit. Compared to the other rookie QBs, Lance had one huge play on some bad defense, but did nothing otherwise. Fields QB'd 3x scoring drives. Wilson was ok and Lawrence was ok. If you compared those 4, Fields was clearly the best and most poised. It will be hard for Dalton to hold him off.
-
It's about time. An under-average Peters is still a quality OT. He will also be a good influence on the younger OLs. Maybe that is what Pederson was doing at the practice. Still odd that Jenkins is not on the PUP list.
-
Thanks, we will need everyone's scheduling conflicts.
-
1-2, 10 yds. Throws to first read into triple coverage on completion. Lucky it wasn't intercepted and the receiver almost got blown up. Instead of letting him air it out, they protect him and run more than pass while Trubisky was in. That was embarrassing, and against the Lions no less.

We are 100% paid for the 2021 season. Next up, draft scheduling and Keepers.
-
Yeah and it also looks like Monty and Kmet have improved and James is catching everything thrown his way, this offense is going to be very solid. I think it will be on par with the Cutler-Forte-Marshall-Jeffery-Bennett season, but this time we actually have solid depth behind the starters.
-
Does anyone have contact with Jason/Jay (Team: Nips&Tips)? We are nearing the deadline for renewal and if he is not participating we need to find a new GM before the draft.
-
Bill, It is a concern but would be no different than if we kept Leno and drafted a CB instead of Jenkins. We would have the same exact problem if Leno was injured. I assume they will bring in some depth once rosters start to get cut. We are still a few weeks away from that.
-
Ok, we are down to one more GM and we are all paid for the 2021 season. Does anyone have contact with Jason? He was a new add last year and is our last GM to confirm for this season.
