Yeah, you can't fault the guy for taking millions if someone is willing to give them to you. He seems like a good kid, but the deer in the headlights look told me everything I needed to know about his ability to quickly process things in a split second. They should add some type of test like that instead of the wonderlic as I think it would yield more useful results. Tailor each test to various positions, almost like the personality tests.

The fact that Trubisky only got $2.5M and only $1.5M guaranteed should tell you how much he is valued in the league. To put that contract into perspective, it is the 63rd highest QB contract in total value currently, which doesn't account for any new contracts or rookie contracts, which will push him into the 70s, which is QB3 and PS range. That is absolutely ridiculous. Here are some names who got bigger contracts than Trubisky: BiNucci, Luton, Fromm, Grier, Stick, McSorley, Stidham, Finley, Morgan.

The Fuller situation is interesting. I would feel much better if they got anything for him compared to an outright release. I wouldn't even care if it was swapping picks and moving up a little with one of the 5th or 6th rounders. If the Bears get something for Fuller and get Golladay, then I will feel a lot better about the entire situation.
-
If the Bears signed Golladay and kept ARob, the Bears would have a top 5 WR Corps with ARob, Golladay, Mooney, and Miller. Even if they cut or traded Miller for cap space, they would still be very solid. Add Montgomery, Cohen, and Kmet, and you have a really solid offense. The Fuller move would feel much better if the Bears got Golladay and kept ARob because they would essentially be transferring cap from CB to WR, which I am fine with.
-
So if they keep Wilson, they have very little cap space and obviously limited draft picks. SF and ARZ both got a lot better, and with Stafford vs Goff, so did LAR. They have to know standing pat is not going to keep pace with the other teams, so the best bet is to move Wilson, get some draft picks and retool for another run. I doubt they do it but you never know.

Those are all decent but still a lot of holes to fill. The more I think about it, the more I think Hicks and Graham are gone.

So the secondary took a huge hit losing the 1st, 3rd, and 10th most snaps on defense. Mingo is 12th. So they are going to need S, CB, and LB help, and DL depth.
-
So here is where we stand: GAINS: Dalton, QB (replaces Trubisky) Trufant, CB (replaces Fuller) Blackson, DL (replaces Urban) Based on lost snaps, the Bears still need a starting S, Slot Corner, KR, TE3, Rotational LB, Rotational DE, Rotational DT, and several STers. LOSSES (with snap counts): Offense (Team High= 1066): Trubisky, QB (570) Massie, OT (470) + ST (26) Coward, OL (333) + ST (73) Harris, TE (215) + ST (169) Patterson, KR (201) + ST (146) Spriggs, OL (70) + ST (34) Carter, WR (15) + ST (36) Defense (Team High= 1060): Fuller, CB (1060) + ST (87) - Most snaps on defense, ouch! Gipson, S (1054) - 3rd most on defense, ouch! Skrine, CB (557) + ST (81) Mingo, LB (390) + ST (374) Urban, DE (370) + ST (158) Robertson-Harris, DE (245) + ST (80) Jenkins, DT (223) + ST (48) Houston-Carson, S (91) + ST (372) McCullers, DT (86) + ST (13) McManis, S (25) + ST (205) ST Piniero, K (0)

Lol Seattle, this may be why they have been considering trading Russ, only 3 picks and 1 in the first 3 rounds:
-
Bears get an extra 6th for Shaheen, bumped up from a 7th, they now have 4 picks in the 6th and 8 overall: 1st - 20th 2nd - 52nd 3rd - 83rd 4th - None 5th - 164th 6th - 204th, 208th, 221st, 228th 7th - None

Injuries. He only played in 6 games, still had the same INTs as Fuller and half the PDs in a fraction of the snaps. So the production is there if healthy. He is only 17 months older than Fuller. If he can return to form, might be a decent filler.

I know this was from last year, but:
-
Here ya go: #9 best-rated available CB on the market. So it will be interesting to see what they paid him.
-
I have no clue what his plan is, but making a hole is never a good idea because the draft should be used to upgrade not fill a hole you created. What sucks is the team takes a $9M cap hit with Fuller cut, so unless they sign someone under $10M, it was a total waste and downgrade for no reason. All they had to do is give him a 3yr extension, give him a big guarantee and push some to next year when the cap goes back up.
-
It goes back to what was the plan? With every plan, you have to have contingencies. Did Pace offer up Fuller and Hicks to SEA with a bunch of draft picks and they said no? Then this was his Plan B? They already restructured Fuller's contract before and were going into last season knowing there was this looming point where he was going to have a $20M cap hit if not restructured or extended, and the only option you have left is to cut him? Like that is the LAST option in which you had at least a year to plan for something else. Fuller could've said no to a restructure or wanted a bigger deal than they were willing to give. If that was the case, then Pace backed himself into the corner without an out. Now as devil's advocate, are we sipping the Kyle Fuller Koolaid? Is the team seeing something we are not? Here are Fuller's numbers for the last 3 years: 2018: 7 INT, 31 PD 2019: 3 INT, 12 PD 2020: 1 INT, 8 PD So his year-over-year totals have regressed in terms of INTs and passed defended, which are the most impactful plays for a CB. Was there a team with a ton of cap space willing to guarantee Fuller's services? $20M for this season would make him tied for the highest paid CB in the league with Ramsey. Obviously, he is not worth that much, but to get nothing for a former 1st round pick, only 2 years removed from All Pro status seems criminal.
-
Instead of extending Fuller and lowering his cap hit, they cut him and take on $9M in Dead Money and get zero compensation for him as a draft pick?
-
Just fire Pace now, why wait. Complete and utter dumpster fire, cannot manage your own cap, Fuller and ARob both should've been extended before the season with a cap-friendly hit but he waited for no reason and this is what happens. Again, this guy has no plan. He had a year to prepare for this. What a loser.

During Dalton's presser, he said he was told that he was the starter. Sounds like Glennon, we will see.
-
Barring injury to Allen, he is relegated to leading the Scout Team for the Bills.
-
Like it feels like there is no plan, and that is why Pace likes Nagy, because he runs the offense with no plan or direction, even down to playcalling. What is the short and long-term strategy for this roster? Did the Bears have to sign Dalton that fast? Were there other comparable options? If Mariota gets cut because he won't take a pay cut, I am sure he would want more than a one-year deal, but something similar to what he got last year, 2-yr $17.6M would seem reasonable, and a smaller cap in 2021 for the Bears. There are too many of these situations. I still remember the Miller trade in 2018. He traded away a future 2nd and the #105 for Miller at #51, while better WRs were still on the board (Chark, Gallup, Washington). Pace called the following year a week WR class (Brown, Metcalf, Hardman, Johnson, McLaurin all drafted after Bears pick).
-
So Bears rush to sign Dalton, then Mariota gets released.... Seriously, you can't make this stuff up. If Mariota signs for anything close to $10M, Pace should be fired on the spot.
-
Outside of WR3, how much better was Cooper/Lamb vs ARob/Mooney? Same with Elliott vs Montgomery, as a pure RB runner, sure, but overall game, close to a push. So Gallup wins in a landslide, but at TE? Graham/Kmet vs Witten? So to me, he would be coming in with comparable weapons and a better O-line, which is crazy. Also add Cohen as the X factor.

Yeah I saw this, very funny.

Interesting: Dalton 74-66-2, 2973-4782, 33764 yds, 62.2% Comp, 7.1 Y/A, 218 TDs, 126 INT, 87.5 QB Rating Cutler 74-79, 3048-4920, 35133 yds, 62.0% Comp, 7.1 Y/A, 227 TDs, 160 INT, 85.3 QB Rating So based on sheer numbers, Dalton had the exact same production as Culter with 25% less INTs. Dalton did it in one less season too. In comparison, Nick Foles is 67-55 with 13753 yds, 81 TD, and 43 INT in 9 seasons, one less than Dalton. So however you want to carve it up, Dalton is probably the best QB the Bears have had on their roster since Cutler. Trubisky's best year would've been Dalton's 3rd worst, so there's that.

Bears sign Blackson, rotational guy on line. I hope he is not a Hicks replacement.
