  1. I really like this guy. It seems like he gets it, he knows how to make the defense better and they will be next year. It was interesting to hear all the praise go to Fangio, and I don't think anyone ever mentioned Pagano once.

    JJ Watt

Watt, Mack, and Hicks alone would be an incredibly dominant front 7. When you throw in Goldman, Smith, and Trevathan, you have arguably the best front-7 in the league. Then you have Jackson, Fuller, and Johnson in the secondary. That is one or two players away from being the best defense in the league. If you get league-average production from the other safety and nickel corner position, this is easily a top 5 unit.

    JJ Watt

I hate to use PFF, but the numbers are accurate in terms of QB pressures, hits, sacks. Outside of injuries in 2016 and 2017, he has still been a dominant player:
  4. This is really going to help the team against GB, and he obviously has experience against our other divisional opponents, so I like the move. If you do good in the division, you are normally a playoff team. So if the Bears can go 4-2 in the division, they are more than likely a 10 win and playoff team.
  5. This would be my preference for QBs based on availability: 1. Carr 2. Mariota 3. Bridgewater 4. Fitzpatrick 5. Darnold 6. Wentz 7. Winston Wentz scares me a little bit with his injury history and just how bad he played in 2020. Outside of Watson, Carr gives the Bears the best chance to win in 2021.
  6. I would not mind the Bears drafting him at #20. Especially if Lawrence, Fields, and Wilson are off the board. I would take Jones over Fields and Wilson too.

    What if

Nagy is definitely average overall, but I think as a HC, he is above average, and he is very overrated as an offensive guru. He would be best served to just be a HC. Here are some newer coaching comparisons (3-5 years experience), I am surprised that Shanahan gets the benefit of the doubt, but others do not. The only guy to win a SB was fired. 1. McVay 43-21, 4 seasons, 3 playoff appearances (SB loss), 0 losing seasons 2. McDermott 38-26, 4 seasons, 3 playoff appearances, 1 losing season 3. Vrabel 29-19, 3 seasons, 2 playoff appearances, 0 losing seasons 4. Nagy 28-20, 3 seasons, 2 playoff appearances, 0 losing seasons 5. Reich 28-20, 3 seasons, 2 playoff appearances, 1 losing season 6. *Pederson 42-37-1, 5 seasons, 3 playoff appearances (SB win), 2 losing seasons 7. Shanahan 29-35, 4 seasons, 1 playoff appearance (SB loss), 3 double-digit loss seasons 8. Gruden 19-29, 3 seasons, 0 winning seasons * - Fired Lol, Gruden too. Amazing he has survived with that type of record only to see KC get to 2 SBs in that window. Another thing to note, not a single coach/team in that group has made the playoffs every season over that period, which is interesting because Nagy gets a lot of flak but when you compare the results, he is right there in the middle, which is about where he should be. The question is, is he good enough to get the team to the next level?

    JJ Watt

He is going to get a lot of interest. His wife plays professional soccer in Chicago. Mack and Watt on the Edge? That would be insane. Another option is trading Mack and signing Watt, which is pretty wild, but not out of the realm of possible.
  9. How much better is Wentz than Rivers?
  10. Great question, I have no clue. That situation just seemed like a difference in opinion between management and coaching. Which is hard to overcome. Outside of 2020, Wentz has been a top 12 QB. In 2017, he had the highest QBR in the league, then finished 12th and 11th in 2018 and 2019. So it is not like he hasn't performed well outside of 2017.
  11. With Nagy and Pederson's relationship, plus DeFlip's knowledge of Wentz, I think the Bears would be in the best position to make a decision on Wentz than any other team. So if they don't have full confidence in him, I doubt the Bears trade for him.
  12. HUGE POINT here! Since all the future guarantees become dead money on Philly's books, this becomes a one-year deal, which seems like how long Pace/Nagy have left to prove they are worthy to keep around. So if all we are giving up is #20, Miller, and Foles, with the possibility of getting a 3rd or 4th rounder back + Wentz on a one year deal. That seems like it is worth it, especially if it means bringing ARob back. He would immediately become Wentz's best WR he has ever had. Kmet in his 2nd year, Mooney in his 2nd year, Monty in his 3rd. Cohen back from injury. If they can address RT and keep the interior with Whitehair, Daniels, and Mustipher, the offense would be the best group since the Cutler, Forte, Marshall, Jeffery, Bennett days.

    Who you got?

It sucks that it had to be Brady winning another one, but outside of two long crazy incompletion throws, Mahomes looked terrible behind a bad O-Line. Very interesting to see him be given every excuse in the book to justify the loss. Patchwork O-Line, Receivers dropping passes, no running game, leaky defense. Man, all those sound very familiar. It's almost like if you don't have those (like TB did), you will only get so far. That was Mahomes worst game of his career, on the biggest stage. Also, I think TB found the blueprint for success against KC, and it will be interesting to see what type of team KC can roll out in the next two years when Mahomes gets his 5th-year pay bump in 2021 and then his new contract cap number in 2022. They will need to lose one of Frank Clark, Chris Jones, or Mathieu on defense at a minimum and will lose another one in 2022, if not more. Another thing to consider is Kelce is 32 (same as Gronk), so how many peak years will he have left in the tank? KC is always going to be in the playoff hunt with Mahomes, but with teams like Buffalo and Cleveland getting better, with younger rosters, it is not going to be easy for KC to get back to the SB. Look at Seattle, back to back SB's in Wilson's rookie contract, and have not advanced past the Divisional Round since. Right now Mahomes only SB victory is against Jimmy Garappolo.
  14. Wentz had a receiving corps comparable to Bears in 2016 in 2020. The leading WRs were Greg Ward and Travis Fulgham, what does anyone expect a QB to do? Go look at the WRs Wentz has had since his rookie year in 2016. His highest producing WR was Jordan Mathews who had 73-804 in 2016. He has never had a WR have more than 73 receptions (Mathews 2016) or over 843 receiving yards (Jeffery 2018) in a single season. Ertz is the only pass catcher to have over 75 receptions or 900 yards in a season since 2016. Also, the Eagles haven't had a 1K yard rusher in that period either. So Wentz did all of that without a 1K RB or 1K WR. Since Trubisky's rookie year, the Bears have had 2x RB seasons with over 1K and 2x WR seasons with over 1K. Howard also had 935 yds in 2018.
  15. On Wentz, the biggest concern for me is health. If he is healthy, he is an above average QB. His TD to INT ratio from 2017-2019 was 81-21 over 40 games, which is very impressive over that length of time. In his career, he has had 19 300-yd passing games, 37 games with at least 2 TD passes, and only 13 games with multiple INTs in 68 games. He also has had 35 games with a Passer Rating above 90 and only 11 below 70. Compare to Trubisky who has only had 7 300-yd passing games, 17 games with at least 2 TD passes and 10 games with multiple INTs in 51 games. Trubisky has had 19 games with a Passer Rating above 90 and 14 games below 70. So he is a clear upgrade over Foles and Trubisky. The question is, would he be better than the #20 pick? If Miller is part of the trade, I could care less. That helps the Bears more than hurts them at this point (save some cap). If they can make the money work, at the end of the day I would rather have Wentz and Arob than Foles, Miller, without ARob. If the Bears can get back a 3rd rounder, then that lessens in the impact on the first rounder for me.
  16. Also, how much better is Woods, Kupp, Reynolds, Higbee, Akers, Henderson than Golladay, Jones, Amendola, Hockenson, Johnson, and Swift?
  17. Both teams took on dead money to make it happen. The Rams are in a win-now mode while being a bunch over the cap for 2021. They also don't have a 1st round pick for another 3 years. So if they don't win, they are going to fall hard and fast. Detroit got some draft capital but also took on dead money and Goff. If the Rams are good the next few years, those are expected to be mid to late 20's picks anyway. How much better do the Lions get with better players but a worse QB? Like I said before, I am not as high on Stafford as many are. Would he have been an upgrade, absolutely, but enough to offset the loss of potential starters drafted in the first round? The issue is you can't sustain success without rotating in impact guys on rookie deals or miraculously hit on UDFAs.
  18. Who knows if this is true, in-division trade?
  19. I am not a fan of the color rush or when they do gradient color changes. I don't mind the second one, but I would have to see it with jerseys to make a final decision.
  20. Now I am seeing news about Watson requesting a trade. So it is game on.
  21. Well, it shows that even over that period, all it takes is one year. Up until this year and even up until the playoffs, Licht had achieved nothing but signing Brady. I am actually surprised he lasted this long. He got to hire 4 coaches. Pace has hired 2. Arians has been on two teams in that period. Who knows if he would still be the coach in Chicago. So Mark's tweet didn't really say anything other than Licht has been with the team since the Bears hired Emery and Arians was hired instead of Trestman (which was a mistake). It wasn't like Licht was some wizard. Once they got Brady, a bunch of players signed for cheap deals to play there.
  22. My reply: The Bucs are 56-88 since 2012, before this season had one winning season (9-7) and zero playoff appearances. Arians is the 4th HC in that time.
