  1. We would get a comp pick in 2022, and only if we didn't bring in anyone that gives a comp pick to another team. So it will depend on what Pace does in terms of free agent acquisitions, because it would suck to lose Arob AND a comp pick to bring in so lower level FA that gives another team a comp pick, negating ours. The exec one is much better, because I believe those are immune to deletion.
  2. There are 10-15 names that have a very low chance of being available at #20, which makes it a little easier to see who may be there at #10. However, from a need perspective, that takes away Lawrence, Wilson, Fields (for QBs), Sewell and Slater (OT), and Smith, Waddle, Chase (WR). That is 8 right there without thinking much. Literally our top needs will be heavily selected in the top 15 (yay Pace!). As far as QBs go, Trey Lance, Mac Jones and Kyle Trask have a chance to be available outside of the top 10, but depending how the combine goes, they may move up or down. Depending on how you view them, some may even be available in the 2nd round. The team obviously has a need for OT, so someone like Darrisaw (VA Tech) or Cosmi (Texas) should be there. WR will be a huge need if ARob walks. I would rather pick one up in the 2nd or 3rd than the first. Depending on what happens with Fuller or Gipson, the Bears may have a hole to fill at CB or S. There should be several of those available at #20. At the end of the day, it seems like QB, OT, WR, and maybe DB will be who they are targeting at 20. What do you think?
  3. Rodgers has seen a bunch of players excel under his tutelage, so it would make sense that he gets a hard look. Hicks, Goldman, Nichols, RRH, Nick Williams, Urban, etc. In a way, that unit has been a strength for the defense. At this point, as long as he can mix it up, mask coverages and blitzes, stop making Trevathan cover WRs, stop DBs from playing 15 yards off with 7 yards to go, and only bring Quinn in on 3rd and long, the defense is a top 10 unit again.
  4. Oh, I agree, you are just kicking the can down the road. It's like putting off cleaning out your shed/garage until next spring. The crap is just going to be a year older. Might as well cut sling and get rid of your Gazelle and Shake Weights this year, even though you still owe two years on them through Fingerhut. If you cleaned house now, you also have the option of trading out of this year's draft and into 2022's knowing those will be your picks.
  5. Nice, let us know if you get a response. It still comes down to dollars and cents > wins and losses. As long as they remain a top 5 valuation in football and top 20 in all of pro sports, why change anything? It is like someone who sells a crappy product, but sells a ton and makes a huge profit. Like some of those "As seen on tv" ones. From a bottom line perspective, whatever you are doing is working, so why change it? Supposedly the family has really taken to Ryan Pace and there is not much he can do wrong in their eyes. It's like a biased parent who gives their kid the benefit of the doubt, especially when they work for them. It feels like Pace has that with the McCaskey's and Phillips.
  6. Yep, and to them the business model is successful, so why change a thing? They are a top 10 team year in and year out.
  7. I think they brought Pace back to live with the train wreck he has put together for the 2021 season. No other GM in their right mind would want to take on this mess and then get blamed for a 4-12 season right after an 8-8 season. The cap situation with the COVID impact has made this basically an impossible task. I bet they brought Pace back but said you cannot push anything into the future. So no trading of future picks or extending/restructuring contracts of players unless approved by higher. Also, no dead money can extend beyond 2021. If they do that, I actually like the decision. Let Pace try to save himself without handcuffing the future. If he pulls it off, he may get an extension. If he fails and the team gets worse (highly likely), then he is the scapegoat and he is fired. Then the new GM comes in with a much better cap situation and no lost draft picks in 2022 and can shape the roster to their liking much easier.
  8. Bill, based on their words and actions, to me, I believe that the organizational leadership thinks both Pace and Nagy are doing good jobs. That's the disconnect with the fans. The team has been in the shitter for most of the last 35 years, so when you have 3 seasons in a row where you don't have a losing record, you are popping champagne bottles and handing out bonus checks. However, the fans don't see it that way. We feel literally the exact opposite way about Pace and Phillips and at least half the fan base feels that way about Nagy. However, inside Halas Hall, these guys can do no wrong. They wouldn't discuss the term of Pace's current contract. Which is typically released to the public. Why the secrecy? Are they not proud of their decisions? George actually said that the Bears culture is the envy of the league and it's not about wins and losses. He is right, it is about the bottom line, and regardless of how bad the Bears do, they always have a top 10 bottom line. So this goes in line with not firing anyone who is still under a current deal, because that would be a sunk cost and hurt the bottom line. So Nagy and Pace are coming back if they are under contract. I expect a bunch of players that we want gone will be back because they don't want dead money on their books. Remember this is entertainment and business, and as long as the stadium is a sell out and jersey sales are strong, there is no reason to change.
  9. That was the worse PR display since the McGinnis fiasco. What a load of crap. It is the same ole song and dance. They are so out of touch with the fanbase (and reality) it is sickening.
  10. I think Jason is predicting what Pace will do now that we know he is back. He forgot the small shifty WR, because we need more undersized RB/WRs.
  11. So this means Trubisky and ARob are gone. Based on some of their recent comments, this makes a lot of sense now. I am pissed about Pace more than Nagy. Nagy was handed Trubisky and with all the money going to the defense, it did not perform to its value. I can't believe they actually decided to bring Pace back. He is seriously terrible at his job. I can't wait to see another D2 or D3 player drafted 4 rounds early in April.
  12. Can I get an amen or should it be an awomen? You nailed it here. In terms of organizational resources, we dumped a ton into QB (#2 draft pick w/ all those other picks in the stupid trade up, Foles trade, Foles salary, Glennon's salary) and Edge (Draft picks lost in Mack trade + Mack's ridiculous salary + Quinn's ridiculous contract) instead of addressing OT this offseason. Quinn's contract alone could've landed at least one above average OT, yet we rolled with Charles Freaking Leno and Bobbie Massie. Like I said in the other thread, if you picked BPA or used the TalkBears consensus draft picks and free agent acquisitions each year that Pace was GM, the Bears would've made the playoffs the last 3-4 years and probably played in or won a SB. The first mistake we would've done differently was drafting Watson at #3 (instead of Turdbiscuit at #2). That right there adds 2-3 wins per year since 2017. If you don't sign Quinn but add Jack Conklin, OT (signed 3/42) or Bryan Bulaga, OT (signed 3/30), the team is much better this year, maybe even by a game or two. The Bears could've drafted Claypool over Kmet (just like we said to) who would've replaced Burton as the "Adjustor". Look at what Claypool did in Pittsburgh. Could you imagine ARob, Claypool, and Mooney in 3WR sets. Good luck. Those are just the simple and obvious ones. How about not trading up for Miller? How about drafting ANYBODY other than Adam Shaheen in the 2nd round? The GMs job was a lot harder without all this technology and analytics nowadays. You almost have to be an idiot to fail at this job. Ryan Pace's ego and "smartest guy in the room" mentality is what put the Bears in this position. The team he left is in better position to compete for a Super Bowl than the team is has ran for the last 6 years. The Saints are 49-15 in the last 4 years while the Bears are 33-31.

    2021 Schedule

Cincy has the 5th pick, Lions have the 7th, Giants have the 11th pick, and SF picks 12th. All those teams who are only marginally worse than the Bears on paper will have a much bigger improvement in the draft. With the Bears cap situation, you could almost project that they will be worse than in 2020 from a free agent acquisition perspective as well. That's why it looks like 5-7 wins is the max.
  14. Jackson has not been the same player since his injury in 2018. He is a completely different player. From a casual observer perspective, it looks like he is playing to not get hurt. He avoids contact and won't join in on tackles, he just watches others. If you can see any game replays, just watch him the entire game. Its actually shocking that they didn't bench him for Bush or DHC, he is playing that bad. The contract was given to the guy had 8 INT and 21 Passes Defended in 30 games. Not the guy with 2 INTs and 10 PDs in his last 31 games. He is the 2nd highest paid safety and is rated somewhere in the 50's.
  15. Robert Quinn would like to have a word with you. Quinn and Jackson's deals are definitely two of the worst, which should be an indictment on Pace's performance as a Nickelodeon GM.

    2021 Schedule

Here is who we will be playing: HOME: GB, DET, MIN, ARZ, SF, BAL, CIN, NYG AWAY: GB, DET, MIN, CLE, PIT, LAR, SEA, TB Since we don't beat winning teams, we are already looking at 8-8 and that is only if we sweep MIN and DET (unlikely) and beat ARZ, SF, CIN, and NYG. If we split with MIN and DET, that is 6-10. Can we even beat ARZ, SF, CIN or NYG? 6 of the 8 road games against playoff teams. Wow. ARZ will be better next year. SF will be healthy. Burrow will be back for CIN. Saquon will be back for NYG. 5-7 wins seems to be the most likely amount for next year based off the last two years of games. Ouch. What do you think?
  17. Miller provides nothing to this team. He averages 3 receptions for 33 yards a game for his career. Wims has 28 receptions in his career. There is no point keeping guys that are worthless and clearly have discipline issues. I think you have to cut as many non-performing guys as possible. Graham, Skrine, Leno, Massie, Miller, Wims are easy. Hicks will probably be gone too. You try to trade Fuller and/or Jackson and even Mack at this point. I would bring back the following: Santos, Mingo, Edwards, Patterson, McManis, Ifedi, Bush, Scales, Jenkins, Urban, and DHC Bars, Holtz, Vaughters, Woods

    Fire Nagy

The problem is they are all linked. If you keep Pace and Nagy, but have someone new instead of Phillips, how much really changes on the field? If you bring in a new GM, they're going to have their own vision, if you stick them with a HC they don't want, it normally doesn't work out. Let them bring in their team. The coach is then going to want to hire his coordinators and coaches. So if you only get rid of one or the other, it creates a lame duck situation for the other. If you're a new GM, do you want to be held accountable for what Nagy does after you have seen how bad of an offense this team has since he arrived? If you are a new HC, are you really going to trust Pace to bring in the right talent to compete after he has clearly shown he can't?

    Blow this crap up

Pace has had 6 years to get this right. Go back and look at his draft picks and tell me why he should get a 7th year. His best draft pick was Roquan Smith, but guys that were originally good to great picks have dropped off so bad that they are not good picks anymore. What has Eddie Jackson done since 2018? He has never been the same since his injury. He is clearly avoiding contact and just watches the play. He has 2 INTs in his last 31 games. He had 8 in his first 30 games. He has 10 Passes defended in last 31 games, he had 21 Passes defended in his first 30 games. He is now playing like a mid to late-round pick, 1 INT per year with 5 passes defended. You don't make that guy the 2nd highest-paid safety in the league. Besides all the draft failures, Dion Sims, Robert Quinn, Mike Glennon, and Markus Wheaton would like a word with you because Pace is just as bad in free agency as he is in the draft. He resigned Trevathan to an immovable deal yet let Kwit walk for less money. The list goes on and on. Again, was Pace ok at his job fielding a serviceable team that got very lucky in 2018? Yes. Has he done enough in 6 years to keep him around for more? No. Pace has built a .500 ballclub and that is exactly what they have been for 2 years now. Look at the schedule for next year. Unless there are massive changes, I will bet they will not win more than 6 games next year as currently constructed. So that is why you cut sling, use the low cap year in 2021 to reset the roster, let the new GM bring in his players in a rebuild year.

    Blow this crap up

What else do you need to see on Nagy? There is zero accountability in that locker room and it is clear the defense has gotten lazy since Fangio left. The penalties, missed tackles, missed assignments, wrong routes, etc, are all indicators of bad coaching. Do you know what else is? Halftime adjustments. No team was as bad as the Bears in the 3rd quarter because Nagy doesn't have the answers. Where were the adjustments? Do you know how many times he said he didn't see the play because he was too busy looking at his play sheet? To me it is clear he is over his head on all of this and is best suited at the position coach level. He is not an offensive mastermind if you haven't noticed. Trestman ran a better offense. He was brought in to fix the offense and it got worse. He couldn't develop a QB and may have actually made Trubisky worse. The players like Nagy but no one is held accountable. Wims should've been cut after what he did. Furrey should've been fired too. Then Miller does almost the same thing in a playoff game against the same player. The dude is talking smack, just walk away. It's unbelievable. How about benching some guys for their performances? How can you watch Eddie Jackson avoid contact on every snap, then jump offsides like he was going to blow up some run? You allow your defense to play 12 yards off on 3rd and 5 and never question your DC on that? This is not rocket science and these guys are not PhDs in their fields. There is too much data out there now on trends and schemes that it's almost hard to be this bad on offense. That is exactly what we see week in and week out. Our offense looks like they are playing defensively and trying to prevent a turnover. I am ok with Nagy getting one more year due to his contract situation and the hope they reset in 2021 with the cap. Then bring in a real HC to start with a clean slate. After 3 years, besides the smoke and mirrors 2018, this team has played sub .500 ball and the coach has to shoulder that blame.

    Blow this crap up

I have been watching this team since the late 70's, and ever since I got NFL Game Pass, I have watched the last 5-6 year's games multiple times. If you look at my posts, I try to be as optimistic and realistic as possible. I have seen enough to know that Trubisky is a one-read QB. How many more games do you need to see? Go watch the Cleveland game and watch how Mayfield scrambles for a tough first down. He doesn't run out of bounds before the sticks. Trubisky, in his 4th year, is still running out of bounds and taking a sack instead of just lobbing the ball out of bounds. No offense to his intelligence, but those are huge red flags for his competency level. He is still reading his armband on every play. How many more years does he need an armband for every play? Some obscure plays sure, but every play? You can tell he has no clue what he is looking at or for. Most of his throws are his first read and he is going there regardless of the coverage. His QBR for the Wild Card game was 13.1. A league-average QB is 50. Of the other 11 Wild Card QBs, only one was within 36 pts of Trubisky's QBR (Wilson had 17.6). Heinicke, playing for WAS, name their top 3 WRs and TE, I'll wait. He put up a QBR of 63.2 against TB and almost beat Brady. You cannot win anymore without at least a league-average QB and Trubisky is not one and after 4 years he never will be. He has to be in the perfect system with a great O-Line, running game, and great receivers to just be good. Please look at this. I used the same games for Nagy earlier, except have now extended to Trubisky's rookie year to see how he played when the Bears beat a team that ended the season with a winning record. So this looks at Trubisky's contribution to the team's win against a good team. Trubisky has started in 8 games that the Bears beat a winning team in his 4 seasons. He did not have one this year. Just look at his stats, and please tell me why we would want this misery again? His best game was Week 2 against SEA in 2018 when he threw for 200 yards, 200 yards. Think about that for a second. In that game, he threw 2 TDs, which was the only time in 8 games he had more than 1 passing TD. Look at some of those averages, there are some RBs that have better yards per carry than Trubisky has on his passing attempts. This list makes me sick: 2017 Week 6 - BAL 27-24 (8-16, 113 yds, 7.1 AVG, 1 TD, 0 INT) Week 7 - CAR 17-3 (4-7, 107 yds, 15.3 AVG, 0 TD, 0 INT) - 1x 70-yd pass to Cohen 2018 Week 2 - SEA 24-17 (25-34, 200 yds, 5.9 AVG, 2 TD, 2 INT) Week 11 - MIN 25-20 (20-31, 165 yds, 5.3 AVG, 1 TD, 2 INT) Week 14 - LAR 15-6 (16-30, 110 yds, 3.7 AVG, 1 TD, 3 INT) Week 17 - MIN 24-10 (18-26, 163 yds, 6.3 AVG, 0 TD, 0 INT) 2019 Week 4 - MIN 16-6 (2-3, 9 yds, 3.0 AVG, 0 TD, 0 INT) Week 17 - MIN 21-19 (26-37, 207 yds, 5.6 yds, 0 TD, 0 INT) - MIN rested starters 2020 NO WINS AGAINST WINNING TEAMS What more do you need to see?

    Fire Nagy

Also, how can these former QBs not develop young QBs? It must be because both of them sucked as players and they have clearly rubbed that off on Trubisky and Wentz.
  23. 3 FA, Foles and high draft pick. Someone like Mullens, Allen, Allen, or Heinicke with Foles and a high draft pick.
  24. I would let the new GM decide Nagy's fate. I still think they need to clean house, including Nagy.
