  1. It is odd, but the team might have put out their own deadline for submissions. Like you must opt out before training camp starts. If they add more guys, then yes, really odd.

I have already ordered the Malnati's Deep Dish that way, I will need to check out the Italian Beef from there. I got a $100 package, in dry ice, was completely frozen upon arrival in Alabama heat, which was impressive.
  4. Here is the current list of players (26 so far) opting out of the 2020 NFL Season due to COVID. Goldman is currently the only Bear, and is the 4th highest rated player in the league to opt-out so far (according to PFF grades). I assume this list will triple by the time the deadline hits sometime next week. For the Bears, my guess is Leno and Miller will follow suit as both have recently had children. Miller has at least been shown working out with Trubisky, so he has a chance, but Leno seems like the type of guy that would take this option and run with it. I have no issues with players opting out, I just didn't like the timing on some of these guys. Man I love those, of all the foods from Chicago, outside of authentic pizza, the Soaker is my go to. Now that I am in Alabama, all I can get is Italian Beef and rolls from Sam's Club. It is not the same but close. What is another one you like?

Bill, is that a Soaker, Italian Beef sandwich dipped in au jus?
  7. Yep, contract slides over, bonus on this year's cap, not next. Interesting timing for me with a lot of these guys. My thought is if you waited until today (first day of mandatory camp) to notify the team, you were not ready for camp and this was an easy way out and was not about the virus. The guys with underlying conditions or family members that live with them, I can understand.
  8. He only played 45% of the snaps, so I would be all in on Snacks. We do gain a good chunk back in cap space. If you are Pace, you need to use it.

    Jamal Adams Trade

Bill, I guess they feel like they can get comp picks if he walks? That's really it. Other than that, they are going all in. Rarely does it work out. I believe they can franchise him but that becomes costly over time. My thing is with all the uncertainty, why now? They could potentially lose the last small year of his rookie deal. In 2021, his cap hit (for 5th year option) jumps to almost 10M, and if he gets what he wants, he is looking for #1 Safety money which will be over $15M a year.
  10. There is going to be a lot more before this is over with. They should just delay everything. To each his own, but some of these guys are more at risk partying with their friends and family than they are in a controlled environment with frequent testing and surveillance. Just surf Instagram for a few and you will see what I mean. It's not like these guys are capable of taking their own precautions. Goldman already got his bonus for the year, which was more than he was making annually on his rookie deal. So why risk anything, especially if he is out of shape?

    STFU

The Marlins situation is crazy. The one thing the NFL has on the other leagues is time. There is nothing stopping them from delaying the start of the regular season 4-6 weeks and playing only a 10-12 game season. They could even expand the playoffs to 8 teams per conference, no bye weeks (save a week), no first round byes, 4x4 the WC weekend, 2x2 the next weekend, and then the Conf. Championships the next. The odds are more in favor of a vaccine being released than any other method of reducing the spread at this point. The risk was always once the numbers got too high, unless every individual quarantined by themselves for 2 weeks, you would still have familial spread, it would be near impossible to stop the spread.

    Jamal Adams Trade

Seattle is better postured at QB to make a trade like this, but where else? Rasheen Green led their team in sacks last year with 4.0. Chris Carson is in the last year of his rookie deal as a RB and Tyler Lockett is their WR1 who barely broke 1k yards last year for the first time in his career. Lockett has the 4th highest cap hit at $12.5M. To me this team has a couple of nice pieces, and Adams is a great addition, but they can't keep everyone. If they don't win it this year, and even if they do, expect a big blowup next offseason. My biggest concern right now with the Adams trade is the uncertainty of the season due to COVID. They would essentially lose a year of him while the Jets still keep the draft picks. As far as I know, the players don't slide their deals to the right, so Adams would instantly be due a massive raise 3 to 4 times his current salary, making them cut several key contributors. Huge risk for them especially knowing the situation.

I didn't like it either at first, but I thought that one first rounder was a decent deal with us getting that 2nd back for the 2nd 1st rounder. The overall draft compensation will be way less than what Seattle gave up. Also, the Mack trade worked, if not for a missed FG, the team could've made it at least into the Divisional Round of the playoffs and seemed to have a clear path to the SB. Seattle though? I know everyone is hyping that defense again, but they were in the bottom half of the league, and even with adding someone like Adams, they may jump up 3-5 spots, but that puts them at league average at best. They also are in a division with SB loser SF, LAR, and up and coming ARZ. Those are going to be some tough division games to win.
  14. So the Bears took flak for the package they sent to the Raiders for Mack, yet Seattle can give up more for Adams, a Safety no less, and it's a good deal for both sides? LMAO! Also, remember the Bears got a 2nd back. This is a huge overpay IMO.
  15. Yeah, great move. He was dead weight, never lived up to his 2nd round slot. I was glad they got something for him, but I doubt he makes the team. Now we at least know the TE room is shaping up, down to 7 with Graham/Kmet/Harris/Holtz/Horsted the top 5. I could see them all making the roster with Holtz playing more of a H-Back role.
  16. Braunecker released. Odd timing. Mike Golic's daughter is engaged to Braunecker. She posted that they have known for awhile.
  17. I agree on draftees, I was just thinking Vindor will be a project if they shift him to Safety.
  18. I think you meant Darion Clark. With 10 less spots, I assume they shave off no more than 2 from any position group to keep the units sort of even as they shrink the rosters. QB - keep all 3 RB - keep all 5, maybe shave off Napoleon Maxwell (definitely a bubble guy, 11th cut) WR - have 12, so they definitely shave off 2: (Alex Wesley and Reggie Davis) TE - still have 9, one or two gotta go, I will say one now (Darion Clark) OL - 15 on the roster, two gone for sure (Badara Traone and Dino Boyd) DL - 9 on roster, I will say they drop one here: (Trevon McSwain) LB - have 15, (Keandre Jones, Rashad Smith) DB - the biggest position group, 18, wow, they have to drop 2 (Xavier Crawford and Kindle Vindor) ST - keep all 4 If anything else I can see them dropping a 3rd DBs in this initial cut. Even 16 seems like a lot to manage in one position group.
  19. Stinger, the funny thing about testing is there is nothing stopping you from contracting it after you test and before your next test and spreading it. So unless they test and have results back before the next interaction, it will be very hard to contain any spread. The test is only good until that next interaction. The NBA will be interesting to see how they handle everything.
  20. Here are the restart/start plans for the major sports leagues: MLB: 23JUL - Regular Season (60-game season) NFL: 28JUL - Training Camps / 10SEP - Regular Season NBA: 30JUL - Playoffs start NHL: 01AUG - Playoffs start (Go Hawks!) Prediction: Hawks win 4th cup in last decade; Sox win 2nd WS in last 15 years, Bears win SB (all within 4 months)
  21. The reason why Asym's don't transmit it or are less likely to is because they are not coughing, sneezing, wiping their nose, etc as much as those with visible respiratory symptoms. Another thought is that this new spike is a weaker mutated strain that is far closer to the flu than the original virus out of Wuhan. The issue that I see is that the leagues are going to quarantine players who test positive per the CDC guidelines. So what happens when an entire unit test positive? Now we have replacement level players on the O-Line protecting Pat Mahomes. I don't think that would go over too well with the NFLPA. Players will absolutely spread it to each other with all the physical contact they make and the close interactions. We just needed to have a strict and controlled lockdown for 2 weeks and all of this would've been thwarted. Thats what kills me the most. People can't follow the simplest of rules.
  22. This news is a few weeks old, but it looks like most teams will start training camp on July 28th (in 2 weeks). Crazy I know. Also, it looks like teams will not bring in 90 players due to COVID-19 and because they won't have time to properly evaluate all of them and get the roster cut down in time. The consensus is that the NFL won't play any preseason games even though two are currently scheduled for late August. I would assume there is going to be a lot more soft tissue injuries this year if they don't have any physical contact build up. However, if that reduces the number of COVID cases, then that is the best move. So what do you think? I would love to have the @NFL back but it is going to be really odd with no fans or 1/4 of the stadium filled. I can see entire teams or at least entire units testing positive for COVID, then being out the next week or two. Can you imagine your entire secondary gone for two weeks. How are they going to address something like that?
  23. Anything can happen. Guys getting paid big after a SB doesn't normally bode well for the team, so we will see if Mahomes breaks that streak too.
  24. So the 6th year is where it gets crazy, $60M for that year. His first season is the only cap hit below the highest paid QB in the game. Every other season he is almost guaranteed to be the highest paid QB until at least 2027. Cap Hits: 2020: $7M 2021: $25M ---------- 2022: $31M 2023: $35M 2024: $40M 2025: $42M 2026: $42M 2027: $60M
  25. No player has ever signed a contract more than Matt Ryan's $150M (5 yr deal) or more than Wilson's $35M per year average (4 yrs). Mahomes gets an average over $50M and a total 3x times more than Ryan's. So depending on when the money hits the cap, the Chiefs are going to have to make some huge cuts to their roster in the next few years to get under the cap. Mahomes will take up almost $45M more in cap space between this season and 2022.
