  1. Yeah, great move. He was dead weight, never lived up to his 2nd round slot. I was glad they got something for him, but I doubt he makes the team. Now we at least know the TE room is shaping up, down to 7 with Graham/Kmet/Harris/Holtz/Horsted the top 5. I could see them all making the roster with Holtz playing more of a H-Back role.
  2. Braunecker released. Odd timing. Mike Golic's daughter is engaged to Braunecker. She posted that they have known for awhile.
  3. I agree on draftees, I was just thinking Vindor will be a project if they shift him to Safety.
  4. I think you meant Darion Clark. With 10 less spots, I assume they shave off no more than 2 from any position group to keep the units sort of even as they shrink the rosters. QB - keep all 3 RB - keep all 5, maybe shave off Napoleon Maxwell (definitely a bubble guy, 11th cut) WR - have 12, so they definitely shave off 2: (Alex Wesley and Reggie Davis) TE - still have 9, one or two gotta go, I will say one now (Darion Clark) OL - 15 on the roster, two gone for sure (Badara Traone and Dino Boyd) DL - 9 on roster, I will say they drop one here: (Trevon McSwain) LB - have 15, (Keandre Jones, Rashad Smith) DB - the biggest position group, 18, wow, they have to drop 2 (Xavier Crawford and Kindle Vindor) ST - keep all 4 If anything else I can see them dropping a 3rd DBs in this initial cut. Even 16 seems like a lot to manage in one position group.
  5. Stinger, the funny thing about testing is there is nothing stopping you from contracting it after you test and before your next test and spreading it. So unless they test and have results back before the next interaction, it will be very hard to contain any spread. The test is only good until that next interaction. The NBA will be interesting to see how they handle everything.
  6. Here are the restart/start plans for the major sports leagues: MLB: 23JUL - Regular Season (60-game season) NFL: 28JUL - Training Camps / 10SEP - Regular Season NBA: 30JUL - Playoffs start NHL: 01AUG - Playoffs start (Go Hawks!) Prediction: Hawks win 4th cup in last decade; Sox win 2nd WS in last 15 years, Bears win SB (all within 4 months)
  7. The reason why Asym's don't transmit it or are less likely to is because they are not coughing, sneezing, wiping their nose, etc as much as those with visible respiratory symptoms. Another thought is that this new spike is a weaker mutated strain that is far closer to the flu than the original virus out of Wuhan. The issue that I see is that the leagues are going to quarantine players who test positive per the CDC guidelines. So what happens when an entire unit test positive? Now we have replacement level players on the O-Line protecting Pat Mahomes. I don't think that would go over too well with the NFLPA. Players will absolutely spread it to each other with all the physical contact they make and the close interactions. We just needed to have a strict and controlled lockdown for 2 weeks and all of this would've been thwarted. Thats what kills me the most. People can't follow the simplest of rules.
  8. This news is a few weeks old, but it looks like most teams will start training camp on July 28th (in 2 weeks). Crazy I know. Also, it looks like teams will not bring in 90 players due to COVID-19 and because they won't have time to properly evaluate all of them and get the roster cut down in time. The consensus is that the NFL won't play any preseason games even though two are currently scheduled for late August. I would assume there is going to be a lot more soft tissue injuries this year if they don't have any physical contact build up. However, if that reduces the number of COVID cases, then that is the best move. So what do you think? I would love to have the @NFL back but it is going to be really odd with no fans or 1/4 of the stadium filled. I can see entire teams or at least entire units testing positive for COVID, then being out the next week or two. Can you imagine your entire secondary gone for two weeks. How are they going to address something like that?
  9. Anything can happen. Guys getting paid big after a SB doesn't normally bode well for the team, so we will see if Mahomes breaks that streak too.
  10. So the 6th year is where it gets crazy, $60M for that year. His first season is the only cap hit below the highest paid QB in the game. Every other season he is almost guaranteed to be the highest paid QB until at least 2027. Cap Hits: 2020: $7M 2021: $25M ---------- 2022: $31M 2023: $35M 2024: $40M 2025: $42M 2026: $42M 2027: $60M
  11. No player has ever signed a contract more than Matt Ryan's $150M (5 yr deal) or more than Wilson's $35M per year average (4 yrs). Mahomes gets an average over $50M and a total 3x times more than Ryan's. So depending on when the money hits the cap, the Chiefs are going to have to make some huge cuts to their roster in the next few years to get under the cap. Mahomes will take up almost $45M more in cap space between this season and 2022.
  12. I stand corrected, $503M and $477M in guarantees....... I don't care how good one player is, that is crazy money, half a billion dollars!!!!!
  13. Average of $45M a year, $140M in guarantees. I get it, but man. Once this new money hits, how do they field a team worth a damn? Once Wilson's new money hit, he had one WR, no RBs, no TEs, and half a defense. This works out for the team on the 2nd half of the deal, but I would assume the contract is renegotiated year after year until another deal is locked in. A good problem to have, but has this ever worked out before? It seems once a QB gets paid big money, they never win it all again.

That would be interesting, but is 3rd Edge our weakest positional need? I would say O-Line is still a concern, and we don't have a backup RB. I would be all for picking up Golden, but I think he would go to where he can start.

It seems like ever since the Cutler era, we are now a team the national media loves to crap on. Nagy's first season was a fluke and we get to live with the Trubisky mistake for eternity.

    What If

I understand their concerns, but the players are less likely to contract the virus in a controlled environment than they in public or hanging out with their buddies.
  17. Cam signed a vet minimum deal. There has to be issues otherwise he would never do that. I am good with the Foles signing given the circumstances with the virus and offseason.

Same with Jackson, it's stupid. Let them sleep on them.

If you go back to 2016, he is 5th amongst TE's in receptions, yards, and TDs with 0 games missed.
  21. I saw some news about Mack and Smith both training like beasts. Hopefully, it translates to a great season. If those two are better than they were in 2019, the defense is going to be a top 5 unit.

Monty has been getting a lot of praise lately. Most expect him to have a better year this year.

Ridley was also mentioned as a breakout candidate at WR, so that's promising. With them drafting Mooney and signing Ginn. The WR competition for those final spots is going to be tight. Wims may be the odd man out if he doesn't take the next step.
  24. Could be, it just felt off. He went from thanking the organization for believing in him when he was injured (what seemed like every year) and "Bear for Life" to he is considering playing again but if he did, it would not be with this staff. I feel like they were quick to put him on season ending IR and I am sure that he did not like the optics of it.
