  1. Boom or Bust Richardson, 44 yarder to Pierce, then throws a Red Zone INT, LMAO.
  2. WTF is going on with Taylor? In a dome with 70+ yards of space and he kicks a 54 yarder that bounced 5 yards before being fielded? Why is he not booming these 60+ yards towards the sidelines? Seriously, they used a 4th round pick on a punter that is no better than the punter they got rid of. What am I missing? This is the 3rd game we are losing the LOS battle because of punting.
  3. I am not liking the play calls. The same thing is happening. No slants or anything over the middle.
  4. So Taylor has turned into Gill? A 37 yard punt that is fair caught at the 17? No coffin corner kicks? What is going on?
  5. Marcedes Lewis has had 2 snaps this season, now both have been false starts? Might be time to consider his roster spot too. What is he providing to the team outside of leadership in the locker room?
  6. Great start of the defense, easy 3 and out. Richardson has not been accurate on two passes, high and wild.
  7. Decent start, one miscommunication to Moore. Santos misses a 56-yarder short. I would've went for it again. If you don't make it they get it at the LOS, so the missed kick gives them better LOS.
  8. If they can admit being wrong about Claypool and somehow trading him, I don't know why they don't do the same about Davis (or release). Davis has the 6th highest cap hit on the team and at this point that money is already spent. So if they cut him today, they would actually get back 600K in cap savings because I doubt anyone would trade for him.
  9. Colts in Cover-3 55% of the time, CHI 36%. CHI is in 2-High 42% of time. Over 50% in any one coverage is high.
  10. The Colts play a ton over Cover-3. It is going to be interesting to see what the Bears do against that coverage. It normally doesn't yield many explosive plays, but there should be open receivers underneath on just about every play.
  11. Homer is the perfect ST player that is serviceable when there is an injury or someone needs a breather. However, it is borderline criminal that he is taking away rushing attempts from Herbert and Roschon. Davis is clearly not over the death of his mother, which for some, could take a lot longer than a year to get over. You can just tell that sometimes he is just out on the field in between defenders and the ball vs actively blocking.
  12. Oh man, he definitely goes on the Shithouse Mt. Rushmore, but most hated ever? I will have to think about that one. I am thinking more like Ray McDonald or Cody freakin Parkey.
  13. I just saw that he was up there in sacks and wanted to compare with other QBs over two game spans. It is still so early, there is not much of an assessment to make with so few snaps and only 66 passing attempts. Josh Allen had 5x 2 INT games his rookie year and he only started 11 games. He threw for more than 225 yards twice, never exceeding 245 yards. He was sacked 15 times in his first 3 starts with 2 TD and 4 INT. The next two games, I want to see a couple of TD passes, no INTs, less sacks, and over 200 yards passing the next two games each. That would be visible progress across the board.
  14. So Williams has been sacked 9 times in 2 games. Since they started recording sacks, there have only been 92 two-game spans with a QB being sacked 10+ times. The largest two-game span is Jake Plummer with 16. Fields has two of those 92 with 11 and 10. Krenzel has 2x 10 sack games, and McMahon has 2x 10 sack games. Just for fun, there are 3 QBs with 20 sacks in a 3 game span (Plummer, David Carr, and Tommy DeVito). Plummer owns the largest 4-game span at 28 sacks, DeVito, Carr, and Plummer have a 26 sack 4-game span as well.
  15. So I will say the scripted drive, or at least the first 8-10 plays were solid. There was variety in formations, motion, etc. Then once the line started really struggling with noise, etc, he went very conservative.
  16. I know I am concerned about the Bears offense, but league-wide, offensive numbers are down across the board. Check out some of these stats thru 2 weeks: 300-yard Passing Games thru 2 weeks: 2024: 5 2023: 13 2022: 13 2021: 21 2020: 16 2019: 20 2018: 19 2017: 13 2016: 20 Red zone passing TDs thru 2 weeks: 2024: 40 2023: 67 2022: 74 2021: 71 2020: 79 2019: 56 2018: 69 2017: 57 2016: 64 So as bad as Williams has been numbers-wise, they look a lot better considering what the rest of the league is doing too.
  17. Homer to IR, should mean more Roschon and Herbert. Davis re-injured groin (go figure). Looks like we will see some Pryor at OG. I would just IR Davis the rest of the year, free up a roster spot.
  18. It honestly looks like there are 2-3 different plays going on at the same time. On the jet sweep to Moore (that was gobbled up). The Bears had 3 blockers for 5+ defenders. Half the line just stood up or ran the other way, not even slowing down the guy in front of them. There are sooo many plays like this.
  19. I just don't understand how the Bears can't use 6 players to block 4-5 rushers and consistently win. That still leaves 4 players in routes at any given time. After watching the game again on the all-22, there were too many routes with nothing underneath over the middle. It doesn't seem like routes are playing off each other. Maybe I am missing something, but the screenshot below is a great example. Two players in the backfield with Caleb, 3 WRs at the LOS on the snap. DBs playing 7-8 yards off. On the snap, all 3 WRs run vertical for 10+ yards. All they needed was one receiver to cut over the middle and there is a huge gain. In the pic, Carter's guy is backpedaling the entire time with no less than 5 yards cushion. If Carter breaks inside, Williams gets an easy pass off over the middle to hit Carter in stride with a ton of space to run. There is a single high Safety near the Texans 40 at this point. This happens ALOT. I am going to track how many times this happens (no MoF crossing routes). Yeah, no one is clearing anything out. On almost every sack there are several deep routes with nothing underneath. Everett looks terrible on almost every play.

    Next 4 games

HOU is a top 5 team. TEN is a bottom 10 team. IND, JAX, and LAR are all in the bottom 10, and CAR is 32nd. Depending on what metric is used, the Bears are anywhere from 15th-20th and ranked higher than their next 4 opponents, with 3 home games.
  21. Hell, I would rather have Chad Morton as the Run Game Coordinator.
  22. Buckner already out for Indy, who is their best defensive player. They were already getting gashed by the run. Latu has only played sparingly due to injuries (which was always the risk with drafting him). Bears by 2 tuddies, 27-13.
  23. A nuclear option if the Bears underperform this year would be to make a coaching change and bring in someone like Slowik, Kubiak, or Johnson to be HC/OC. Don't even wait for Waldron to "figure it out" and there is enough bad against Flus to let him go today and no one would question it.

    Team Records

Caleb Williams is now 70th on the Bears all-time passing list. He just passed the likes of Jason Campbell, Henry Burris, and Moses Moreno. Up next is passing Sweetness, Red Grange, and Doug Flutie. D'Andre Swift is 220th in rushing yards, and at his current yards per game, would only need 41 seasons of 17 games to surpass Walter Payton's 16,726 rushing yards. Swift would break the record when he is 67 and on his 16th contract extension with the Bears and Caleb Williams' grandson at QB. DJ Moore is now 52nd in receiving yards and is closing in on Anthony Miller and David Terrell on the all-time list. Cole Kmet is 17th in the franchise in receptions. He just passed Darnell Mooney and is one reception away from Devin Hester. Dikta and Desmond Clark are the only TEs ahead of Cole on the list. He is also 33rd in receiving yards. Cairo Santos is 8th in the franchise for both FGs and XPs, he should pass Paul Edinger this year. Tory Taylor is already 30th in punt yardage and his 46.2 Gross Punt Average is already a team record for players with over 10 punts. Fun fact, Jim McMahon has an average of 47.5 (2 punts) with a long of 59 yards.
