One thing to consider. The Bears did not know they would get Montgomery when they signed Davis. Like the Glennon deal, I think the Bears signed Davis as an insurance policy. Then when Montgomery was still available, they made their move and got him. This sort of made Davis a waste, but if one of the RBs they wanted wasn't there, then Davis goes into the season as the lead back. Then the offense plays about as bad as it can play and you have a guy that is barely used. It's not like replacing Davis is going to make the team much better at this point. The Daniels Whitehair swap should help. Daniels has struggled mightily and this move should've occurred during the bye.

As much as the QB's looked good, how about those starting RBs? Those guys carried the teams in the 2nd half and literally won the game for them. Burrow has to be the #1 pick, he reminds me of Watson but as a better passer. Both so cool in the biggest moments (unlike ours).

Wisconsin and Michigan State, impressive for a team that has been bad for so long. It's good to see because outside of Northwestern, the state hasn't seen many good teams in a long time. This should help recruiting. Good for Lovie too. I thought he got a raw deal on the way out of here.

Lions 3-4-1, Bears 3-5, this game will more than likely decide who finishes last in the division. An important factor is next year's schedule. The last place team will get ARZ and WAS, while the 3rd place team will get LAR and NYG, actually a pretty big difference. Stafford is supposedly a game-time decision. Johnson is out, however, Golladay and Jones have been on fire. Even Amendola, who would be our #2 WR, is having a solid year. Marvin Hall is now on the Lions, and has 5 catches averaging 40 yards each. This game is going to come down to our secondary and our pass rush. I think the change with Daniels/Whitehair and the addition of Nall makes just enough difference to get our offense out of the cellar. With so few winnable games remaining, I think we beat the dome team today in the cold with Montgomery carrying the load. Bears 20-13

This is good, hello Mr. Nall:
-
I agree, I would rather have Nall or even someone like Horsted up vs Whyte. Due to injuries/lack of production, they may also go with an extra DLine or LB.
-
I have been hearing it would be Kerrith Whyte, if they brought up another RB. I would like to see Nall too. He can play some FB if needed too.

So the Bears will get a 4th Round Comp pick for Amos and at least a 6th (could become a 5th) for Howard in the 2020 draft.

Too little too late? After losing 4 straight games after starting 3-1 with an anemic offense, you finally decide maybe now it's time to admit your mistake and go back to what worked last year? I am glad they are doing it, don't get me wrong, but it seemed like everyone was calling for this back in Week 1. Daniels is clearly struggling, and with him at Center, he can't help Coward at RG, making a huge void in the line. So I like the move and think it is long overdue.

Remember Mitch was not Nagy's guy, and from reports, Nagy wanted Mahomes out of the 3 tops QBs. To me you have to move on from Mitch, the sample size is large enough to know what you are going to get. What I do find interesting looking at the stats (any of them), Trubisky is lumped in with a group with guys like Mayfield, Darnold, J. Allen, Mariota, Jones, Rudolph, and K. Allen. Murray is right on the cusp of that group, and Goff is right ahead of Murray. So outside of Mahomes and Watson, not many QB since 2017 are doing very good.

Here is the dilemma, what has anyone seen over the last 9 games (going back to playoff game) that would give you any hope that things will change? I honestly cannot think of one facet of this team that has improved since last year. Pace gambled with Trubisky, Shaheen, Miller, and Mack and lost. He should be held accountable. It takes 3 years to completely revamp a team, this is now Year 5 for Pace. In Year 5 with Angelo we made the playoffs and in Year 6 we lost the SB. It was Lovie's reluctance to change QBs that cost us that game. Still kills me to this day. Angelo's last season was 2011 and he finished with a 95-81 record (4x Division titles, 1 SB appearance, and 2 NFCC appearances) in 11 seasons. Emery followed Angelo and in 3 seasons compiled a 23-25 record before he was fired. Pace is 29-43 into his 5th season. This does not compute. If Emery is fired for going 23-25, why does Pace get a free pass for a 32-48 record with 4 last-place finishes in 5 seasons? You have to fire him for that. Which players have improved their game from last year to this year? ARob? O'Donnell? Maybe 2. A few are the same (Whitehair, Trevathan, Mack, Goldman, Nichols, RRH, Prince). How many players have regressed since last year? Massie, Leno, Daniels, Trubisky, Cohen, Shaheen, Burton, Miller, Floyd, Smith, Fuller, Jackson? At least half of the starters are worse this year than last year. That alone is 2-3 games. Then add injuries: Hicks, Daniels, Long, Trubisky, and there is another game or two lost. On offense, we literally added Montgomery and Coward and lost Howard and Long. That's it and we are this much worse than last year. On defense, outside of the Hicks injury, we replaced Amos and Callahan with HaHa and Skrine. The crazy part is HaHa and Skrine have actually been the most consistent players on defense after Mack and Trevathan. So we essentially replaced 4 total starters on offense and defense, and we are this bad. The team just needs to bench, cut, or put players on IR that are not performing for whatever reason. Just cut Lurch and bring up Horsted. Put Burton on IR and let him get his vagina operated on, bring up Raymond or Sowell. Put Trubisky on IR, let him get shoulder surgery and watch (and learn) the rest of the games from the box. Let Helfrich or Ragone take over play-calling duties so Nagy can worry about time management and challenges.

Nagy had a 12-4 record last year, then lost in the playoffs to end the season at 12-5. This season he is 3-5, down to 15-10 overall. Just say we go 3-5 the rest of the way (which is being generous), that would put this year's record at 6-10 and his overall record at 18-15. The offense was bad last year, but was masked by all the defensive turnovers and short fields. We have half as many turnovers thru 8 games this year and it shows in the game scores. Nagy has effectively neutered this offense to the point that all teams have to do is go man on the outside and have 9 in the box to guard against the run and any pass within 5 yards. It seems like most of Nagy's pass plays are these short 5-7 yard curls which make it incredibly easy to defend both the run and pass at the same time. With how bad the offensive line is and Trubisky's decision making and accuracy issues, nothing works. The only time we get going is when teams back off into zone or Cover 2. It opens up the seam and some intermediate throws. The team has to find a way to exploit the defense when they have 8-9 defenders within 5 yards of the LOS and between the hashes. That have yet to do that.

Isn't it crazy that Jackson has become an afterthought? The crazier part, HaHa has played better than Jackson this season. Jackson is getting burnt left and right and has made zero impactful plays. He got trucked by Howard on a Run Blitz in the hole. Embarrassing.
-
Very crucial player on 2 special teams plays a week. He is so good, you don't even know he is there.
-
Just run Montgomery 4 times in the I-formation. You will eventually get 2 yards. Running Cohen up the middle is absurd at the goal line. Team has issues at every level. Management/GM roster construction questionable, went all in and lost. Coach is a suspect playcaller and is not enough of a disciplinarian and Fangio may have quelled some of that last year since the players knew he wouldn't let them get away with BS. Players assuming they were already there and didn't need to put the extra work in. All this equals a recipe for disaster like we are seeing. Same in CLE. Preseason hype and zero results. Both CLE and CHI passed on Mahomes and Watson.
-
It is a conditional pick, but it's believed that the only way it becomes a 5th is if he makes the Pro Bowl, is a 1,000 yard rusher or has a certain number of carries. He has an outside shot at the yardage if that's all it is.
-
It''s really going to depend on how many QBs go in the first round. At best we might be able to slide into the back end of the first with our first 2nd round pick and maybe a mid-round 2021 pick. That would give the team the 5th year option availability.
-
So we traded Howard (making $2M) to then sign Davis for $3M a year. However, due to that signing, we lost a 4th round comp pick for the loss of Amos. If we cut Davis by Saturday, the Bears would recoup the 4th rounder and still have the 6th rounder for Howard next April. If Pace is not a complete idiot (jury is still out), then he has to make this move. We could've kept Howard, saved $1M and had a backfield of Howard, Montgomery, and Cohen this year. It's still mind-boggling that the Bears made this move. Pace now seems like one of those dumb people who think they are the smartest guy in the room. The Bears are 29-43 under Pace and headed for the 4th last place finish in 5 years. Last year was a fluke. More than likely a 8-8 team playing the easiest schedule in football. This year? An 8-8 team playing the toughest schedule in football equals a 6-10 record. It's crazy the amount of latitude that this guy has received for one winning season. Other GM's have come and gone who have performed better. Why is he not held accountable? For the Mack trade, which now doesn't even look good? He fell into that one. He now looks bad basically on every trade he has completed.
