Watching those highlights, if you didn't know it, he would seem like an RB1. He follows his blocks, finds the hole, knows when to cut back and is way more elusive than Howard. There are some great examples, but look at 2:34 on the YouTube video in AZ's post, he completely de-cleated Sean Lee and then made another move to make it to the first down sticks. I have never seen Howard do anything close to that. If they keep Howard, I see it being a true RBBC, between Howard, Davis, and Cohen with a sprinkling of Patterson for good measure.

The more tape I watch, the more I like HHDC. He seems to be more of a hybrid Safety, almost half Jackson, half Amos (Jackmos?). The way the league is going, there is less of a need for a one trick pony thumper in the secondary like Amos. Amos was slightly above league average while HHCD was a 2nd team All-Pro and Pro-Bowler. If you compare the two situations, you can clearly see who is going to be motivated, one guy leaves a playoff team as a free agent, then signs a massive contract. The other guy is traded from his original team mid-season, then takes less money to join an ascending team. If we play the Pack Week 1, I guarantee HHDC is going to come to play with some added motivation. It will be interesting to see how Amos looks in the GB defense. Some interesting notes: 1. Even though HHCD was drafted a year before Amos, he is only 4 months older than him. 2. HHCD has never missed a game (5x seasons of 16 games played) 3. Amos career numbers for impactful plays: (3 INT, 3 FF, 2 sacks, 18 PD) compared to HHCD: (14 INT, 4 FF, 5.5 sacks, 28 PD) 4. Tackle totals were mind-boggling, Amos averages 4.5 tackles a game (269 total for career) while HHCD averages 5.7 a game (456 career). That might not seem like a lot but that is telling. HHCD is around the ball more than Amos ever was. Going a little further, Amos had his best year this year in terms of tackles with 73, his first season above 70. HHCD's low is 79 (twice) and he broke 100 twice. That is what those averages look like played out for a season. To me, this is a clear upgrade at Safety. HHCD, though not necessarily known as the big hitter like Amos, is better in coverage, has better playmaking skills, and makes tackles.

Pace seems reluctant to give players with injury history new deals. White, Meredith, and now Callahan. I don't mind this thinking, but it should never be all or none. So the debate will be Callahan for $7 vs Skrine for $5.5.
-
He saw what Amos got after playing on the Bears D, just think what he will get next offseason if he plays well.
-
Yeah, and the more I watch tape on him, compared to Amos, he seems like the better overall playmaker. To me, he was on a bad defense (GB) and then on a new team, and still played decently. Imagine him on the Bears next to Jackson and playing with/behind Prince and Kyle. It's hard not to think he will be better on the Bears. Hard to say that about Amos on that defense.

$9.25 AAV for Amos vs $3.5 AAV for Clinton-Dix, even for just a single year seems like a steal to me. You also have to believe that even if Amos is individually better than Clinton-Dix (debatable), that Clinton-Dix grouped with Jackson will be better than Amos/Jackson.

I love this signing, instant upgrade to Special Teams and can take the top off the defense. He will replace Bellamy, White production.
-
You called it, Patterson is a Bear. He will be lethal in this offense and we get a plus returner.
-
Ultimately the only new starters, outside of Fred Agency we need to replace are Amos the Fudge Packer and Callahan. If Skrine is Callahan's replacement, he will need a lot of work. Skrine should be better on the Bears but he has been one of the worst CBs the last few years. So how much can he really improve? I liked the Davis signing, especially if he replaces Mizzell and Cunningham. That would be an upgrade. Still waiting on the Amos replacement. Thomas would be huge and Gipson would be a comparable replacement.
-
Bears restructured Mack's contract to free up more space. Seems like they are going after Bell or Thomas.
-
What a sellout. I know there is no loyalty anymore but damn. Drafted by the Bears and signs with the Packers. Even more of a reason to hate the Pack.
-
Looks like they found Callahan's replacement. Hopefully comes in cheap. Update: not cheap, I do not like this signing. Skrine has been one of the worst CBs and most penalized CBs in the league. I don't know what Pace is thinking here. Over paid IMO. 3/$16.5 with $8.5 guaranteed seems steep for a perennial under performer. We will see what they get out of him but it seems like another Cooper signing.

Nice signing, formerly of the Seahawks. I almost posted about him this morning after reviewing FA RBs. Was thinking Ware, Coleman, or Davis would make sense and now this. I like the signing, it reminds me of Trey Burton last season. "Davis ran 112 times for 4.6 yards per carry and caught 34 passes on 42 targets"

Looks like he got another ring.... NFL instituting the Tug Rule for the Patriots..... Talk about deflated balls......
-
I dunno about you, but I completely forgot Amos was a 5th round pick. So it is hard to imagine that we can't pick up a comparable guy in the 4th or 5th to do what he has done for a lot less money.
-
The Patriots run has been crazy. Hard to say Bill is not the better coach, but he has had the luxury of having Brady. However, Reid definitely has the better tree.

Acho would be the only non-starter making more money than Kwiatkoski. If they feel like Iggy can do what Kwiat has done, then you save the $2M in cap space. Our true window for a SB is the next 3 years. After that, expect some huge cuts to keep Trubisky. After his pay bump, I think you have to consider moving on from him. With Sims, that is an instant $8M freed up.
-
Might as well. 14-1 is pretty good considering they should be favorites in the NFC.
-
The bottom line is we need a kicker. If not Gould, then someone other than Parkey at this point. It would be nice to get Gould back, but he needs to kick like he did in SF, not the last year in Chicago.
-
As long as Pace keeps hitting on 2-3 draft picks per year (a little harder this year), we should have a constant flow of youth and cheaper contracts to balance the cap going forward. Also, you can consider Khalil Mack as our 1st rounder and Anthony Miller as our 2nd rounder this year, because that's who we have on the team for those draft picks. It will be interesting to see what would've been available at the Miller pick this year. We ultimately gained 5 slots for pick 105 and gained a year of Miller (or lost a year depending on how you look at it).

Entire starting offense plus WR3, TE2 all return next year. Crazy level of continuity.
-
I cut in the actual stats in with the projections and comments. Burton's was spot on with some others that were really close.

Just look at the Mahomes' TD videos, how many of those are to wide open receivers? A lot. How many are with a bunch of yards after the catch. A lot. Mahomes also threw passes to 2x All-Pro's and had an All-Pro on the O-Line. Trubisky had Cohen as the only All-Pro and he got it as a returner. Mahomes to me is flashier and makes some crazy high difficulty throws. However, I don't think the gap between him and Trubisky is as big as the media makes it out to be. We should see that next year. Mahomes probably still has more yards, TDs, etc, but I feel like Trubisky will have a better QBR (and a better record).

8x Pro Bowlers, 4x All-Pro, CoTY, and 3x All-Rookie Team this year. What a year for the organization. Pace is killing it.
