I am all in on Wilson: I would rather have Wilson at half the cost of Landry with Howard, a draft pick (assuming we would have to use one on an RB), and retain our current slots (assuming we would swap with Miami from 8 to 11) than trading for Landry, taking on his salary, drafting a new RB and potentially moving from 8 to 11. Now I am open to trading Howard if the compensation is comparable, but I don't think Landry-Howard is an even trade.

I don't know about either not being elite. Howard is in the top 3 in rushing yards over the last two years and Landry caught the most receptions this year. Both were in crap offenses too, which makes their numbers even better. I am torn on this move even if it is just a rumor. Wright played decent in the slot, so we would be upgrading from Wright to Landry while going from Howard to potentially a rookie. So we lose a draft pick filling the new RB hole. The assumption has been we would pick up Wilson (KC) or Gabriel (ATL) for the slot, so we wouldn't have to use a draft pick on that position. In this trade, we would need to use one on an RB. So this seems like a negative sum gain unless Miami gave us an extra pick (3rd rounder).

I am 5'11", 190 lbs and can do 10 at 225. This dude weighs 155 lbs more than me and can only do 4 more reps than me? Seriously? That is sad. All this guy had to do is hit the gym 3-4 times a week and work strictly on bench press and the 40. He clearly sat on a couch and played Xbox after the season. Zero work ethic.

That's great news, thanks. The newer IP.Boards are awesome. If there is a need to donate to keep this site alive, please let me know where to do that.

Any chance of an upgrade of IP.Board?

Definitely, we have cap flexibility to actually bring in some blue chip talent this time. I hope we can extend those 3, and bring in 3 top flight guys with a few mid range guys.
-
Yeah, they need to use some of that FA money on our own guys (Fuller, Amos, and Goldman).
-
Per everyone. Glennon saves $11.5 and Young saves $4.5, so another $16mil. Kyle Long now the oldest player on the team at 29. Now with the 3rd most cap space heading into free agency and 6th youngest team in the league. Wheaton and Cooper should be next, another $9.5 in savings and would make us the 4th youngest team in the league.
-
Don't forget Wheaton $5 and Cooper $4.5 should bump it to $80M.

Ok, if you guys don't mind, please post how you believe the top 7 picks will fall out in the draft: 1. CLE 2. NYG 3. IND 4. CLE 5. DEN 6. NYJ 7. TB I used the following mock draft database to come up with some consensus top 6 picks and their probability. (http://www.letsgoredskins.com/MockDraft.htm) Using the information from mocks from 10JAN until now, I came up with 660 data points (6x 110 mocks). Here are the percentages by slot for the top 6: 1. Darnold (52.7%) 2. Rosen (50%) 3. Chubb (60%) 4. Fitzpatrick (41.8%) 5. Mayfield (23.6%) 6. Allen (20.9%) This is the overall percentage on being selected in the top 6: 1. Rosen 96.4% 2. Darnold 94.5% 3. Barkley 89.1% -------------------- 4. Chubb 76.4% 5. Mayfield 61.8% 6. Fitzpatrick 58.2% 7. Allen 53.6% ----------------- 8. Nelson 30% 9. Jackson 10% 10. Smith 5.5% So for me, I have to say the top 3 are absolute givens and should be all at 100%, and I assume these numbers will creep up as we get closer to the draft. Just for simplicity's sake, the top 7 players will not be available to the Bears at #8: 1. Rosen 2. Darnold 3. Barkley 4. Chubb 5. Mayfield 6. Fitzpatrick 7. Allen To me, this sets up pretty good for the Bears, either 4x QB's go and Barkley, leaving us with one of Chubb, Fitzpatrick, or Nelson, or 1 of the QB's is not selected and sitting there when we pick (for a trade down). If we miss out on those three, and keep the pick, what is left? Brown, OL Williams, OL Jackson, CB Smith, LB Edmunds, LB Ridley, WR Sutton, WR

I have never been a fan of this. We lose Alshon, and because we signed Glennon, Wheaton, Cooper, etc, we get no compensation but our team was actually worse without him. They base it on the net difference between salary of FA's gained and lost. So if you sign 5 filler guys at $5 mil each, that is equal to 2x top tier starters at $12.5 each. To me I would like to see these changes: 1. Teams only get comp picks for players they drafted or acquired as a UDFA 2. Teams should be limited to 3 comp picks (currently 4) 3. Comp rounds should be 4th-7th (not 3rd)
-
After reading some more about him, I am ok with this. Also, Robinson is coming off injury, so who knows how he will be. However, Lee should be available from the Jags.

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/page/32for...-nfl-teams-2018 Looks like he is going to be off the market.
-
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000091...s-just-business Interesting story. Hopefully, this doesn't impact one of the teams in front of the Bears. My hope is Cousins goes to someone like Jacksonville and McCarron doesn't go to Browns, Broncos, or Jets.
-
That would be an insane draft. I would say that Kirk is unlikely to last past the first few picks in the 2nd round and I would not be surprised if he goes in the first.
-
Great hire, after reading about him, he has the experience and credentials. Degree in kinesiology and was also the Director of Sports Nutrition in addition to all the S&C stuff. So one would think he takes a holistic approach to S&C. Also, based on the amount of disappointment from Wash St., I think we got a keeper.
-
I will pass on Maclin, I have never been a fan, he always seemed overrated to me and to my surprise is already turning 30 this year.
-
For me, it is hard to see him being better than a 4th round pick. He was injured and just left the team without notice. He has been out of the league a year with post concussion syndrome. He seems like one helmet to helmet hit from IR. You see him as an ILB at 210 lbs? I thought he mostly played Safety? I don't know about giving up a 4th, but I would consider a 5th or 6th.
-
Alex Smith played one drive in Week 1 of preseason, 2 drives in Week 2, and the first half in Week 3, and DNP in Week 4. Seems like that would be the "normal" amount of reps for a veteran QB and nothing out of the ordinary.
-
I guess this is another trend, now Adam Schein ranking the hires: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300000091...ricia-top-board He puts Gruden first (shocker), Patricia 2nd - LMAO, then Reich, Wilks, then Nagy (5th). I am sorry but OAK, DET, and IND are not going to be better than the Bears.
-
I think it is way to early to "grade" the coaching changes, but I get a kick out of people loving the Gruden move. The dude hasn't coached in years and inherited two pretty good teams between OAK and TB when he did coach. I like the story for him going back to OAK, but besides that, I think he will be average in Oakland. For the others, I am ok with Nagy and a B-, young coordinator, etc, etc, but with him grading Reich and Shurmur higher than Nagy seems that he made the grades more about coaching experience than anything else. https://sports.yahoo.com/grading-seven-nfl-...-161240625.html
-
True, I applaud his effort, but man, most of those moves do not make any sense.
-
It was nice of someone to post a bunch of stuff on a website, but some of these moves are ridiculous. Dion Sims to JAX? So Jacksonville is going to be impressed with Sims at that price and trade something for him? No way. If he is not on the team, it is because he was cut. I don't understand the Bullard move like you said, and I doubt Sitton gets traded. If anything he is cut too. Like you said, how is Cooper not cut, but Freeman is? Glennon, Demps, and Wheaton are obvious cuts, so nothing shocking there. Amukamara is dependent on if the Bears bring in someone else like Amerson or Desir. If we have Sanchez on the roster, we might roll with only 2 QBs. So I don't know about Daniel. Why would we sign Reid when we have Amos and Jackson? Where would he play? Then after all that wildness, he trades down to draft a WR and C in the 1st, then another WR in the 4th? This guy is all over the place.

Here is my take, I would go with Wilson or Wright in the Slot, and would lean towards Wilson with his experience in Nagy's system, and I would have no issues with bringing Wright back for the same job. On the outside, I would target Lee or Grant, and maybe even someone like Decker (for 3rd downs and vet presence). I don't know if we can count on Meredith or White, and it would be a huge risk to pick up someone like Robinson (injury) with those other two on the roster. Slot Options: (My pick: Wilson, knows Nagy's system, younger than Wright with comparable production) 1. Jarvis Landry (25), 6'0", 205 lbs; 112-987 (70%), 9 TD (on 929 snaps) - all short routes, but can't deny the production 2. Kendall Wright (28), 5'10", 194 lbs; 59-614 (65%), 1 TD (on 581 snaps) - great performance considering Loggains 3. Taylor Gabriel (26), 5'8", 167 lbs; 33-378 (65%), 1 TD (on 541 snaps) - tiny guy, scares me off turf (we have Cohen) 4. Albert Wilson (25), 5'9" 200 lbs; 42-554 (68%), 3 TD (on 538 snaps) - Nagy exp, high catch rate, great production on 500 snaps ------------ Outside Options: (My pick: Lee, it will be interesting to see what he does in another offense w/ real QB or Grant, I don't see very much media coverage on him, but great catch rate when given the chance) 1. Jaron Brown (28), 6'2", 205 lbs; 31-477 (45%), 4 TD (on 819 snaps) - terrible production and catch rate 2. Paul Richardson (25), 6'0", 175 lbs; 44-703 (55%), 6 TD (on 817 snaps) - hard to tell if his numbers are due to RW's magic acts 3. Sammy Watkins (24), 6'1", 211 lbs; 39-593 (56%), 8 TD (on 774 snaps) - only likes TD receptions 4. Marqise Lee (26), 6'0", 192 lbs; 56-702 (58%), 3 TD (on 737 snaps) - Bortles at QB, so numbers should see bump with real QB 5. Donte Moncrief (24), 6'2", 221 lbs; 26-391 (55%), 2 TD (on 614 snaps) - brutal production on 600+ snaps 6. Ryan Grant (27), 6'0", 199 lbs; 45-573 (69%), 4 TD (on 613 snaps) - sleeper pick, solid production 7. Jordan Matthews (25), 6'3", 212 lbs; 25-282 (69%), 1 TD (on 508 snaps) - scary after production and trade from PHI ------------ Other options: (My pick: Decker, if Bears don't go with Wright, it would be nice to have a vet on that side of the ball at one of the skill positions, and Decker is a nice 3rd down target) 1. Eric Decker (30), 6'3", 206 lbs, 54-563 (65%), 1 TD (on 733 snaps) - veteran presence, high catch rate 2. Terrelle Pryor (28), 6'6", 240 lbs; 20-240 (54%), 1 TD (on 378 snaps) - huge WR, potential still there 3. Allen Robinson (24), 6'3", 220 lbs; IR - can he overcome injury? ------------ RFA's 1. Tyrell Williams (25), 6'4", 205 lbs; 43-728 (62%), 4 TD (on 851 snaps) 2. Adam Humphries (25), 61-631, 1 TD (on 681 snaps) 3. Quincy Enunwa (25), 6'2", 225 lbs, IR *In snaps order I would be ok with any combination of Wilson or Wright, and Lee or Grant. I would then draft one in the top 3 rounds.

What leverage did they have when he could just not sign the deal and become a free agent or get tagged? There was no rush for him to sign a deal and the only way it would've backfired on him is if he struggled in his starts and they lowballed him based on the small sample size.
