His style of play makes him more susceptible to injury though. Sometimes these non contact injuries happen to a previously injured body part. Sucks for Houston, but what is interesting is even with him they were still only 3-4 and beat CLE, TEN, and CIN. However without him I don't know if they win more than 1 or 2 more games.

Hopefully we upgrade during the bye, Barth is one of the worst Kickers in the league and we can't afford to give up pts and field position with his misses.
-
So Garoppolo to 49ers for a 2nd, Ajayi to Eagles for a 4th.
-
Based on his comments, you have to think he will retire: https://twitter.com/JerrellFreeman/status/925073205857062913

Scary news, hopefully, they can save his leg. Artery damage is no joke.
-
What a horrible loss, we now have 3 losses on final drives, ATL, MIN, and NO. Playcalling is garbage, coaching is garbage. Fox can't make a correct challenge if it saved his life. We held Brees without a passing TD and lose.
-
12 pt swing the difference, Fuller's penalty on FG gave them 4 pts, Barth's missed FG 3pts, and Miller's TD was 4 pts. We would not have needed a 2 pt conversion, score should be 21-16 Bears right now, instead it is 20-12 Saints.

Horrible play calling, god it's brutal. 3rd and 1 and we run 2 crap plays? Can Fox and Loggains go already?
-
Ginn pushed off, should've been OPI.
-
Can't beat the officials, ridiculous. Almost every long play for Saints should've been called back. Bears DLine getting mugged with no calls, on a couple of the screens O-Line down the field too early and no call. Ingram fumbles ball in air, but they say ground caused the fumble, then the Miller call. Unbelievable.

I pinned this thread to the top of the forum for continued use.

Saints O-Line hurting, and I could see Cohen having a big game in a dome. I believe it will be much closer than 9.5 pts. Bears 27-24, with Bears scoring a TD late to win it.

I feel your pain. The last couple of years, I would always face the team that scores the most points in the league, so regardless how good my team performed, I either barely won or lost by a few. To field your best team is somewhat of a crap shoot, but you have to look at a couple of things. How consistent is your player, at home, on road, on turf, etc. Then apply the same theory to the defense that player is playing. So if players are close to each other in scoring, go with the easier matchup. For WR's, look at targets, and for RB's, look at touches. Eventually those will correlate with points since you can't get pts without targets and touches.

Meredith and Inman (stats from last year): 66-888, 4 TD, 13.5 AVG, 6'3" 207lbs 58-810, 4 TD, 14.0 AVG, 6'3" 205lbs Did we just get a Meredith clone for a conditional 7th rounder? Seems like an upgrade from what we got, if healthy.

You could not have timed this better. Talking about creating turnovers, lol. You nailed this, now do the same for the offense.

What a crazy game, I don't even know what to think. Trubisky threw 7 passes, we had 5 first downs, and 153 yards on offense. CAR had the ball over 38 minutes. That is not sustainable for the defense. We got lucky that Jackson actually scored on those plays, otherwise we are probably tied 3-3. As good as the defense was, the offense was literally the polar opposite. Loggains needs to go. Where are all the quick slants and quick hitting plays? This also smells a lot like Fox. Think Tebow's first year. To me, once we got a lead, they basically prevented Trubisky from doing anything that could lose the game. I was assuming we were going to change the game plan to take advantage of Trubisky's mobility, but it seems like they have no idea what they are doing anymore. A WR was targeted once and he caught it (Gentry), while we release Deonte Thompson who catches 4 balls for 104 yards for Buffalo and literally won the game for them with a huge catch late in the game. Now we get NO who has won 4 in a row and found a running game to compliment Brees. We will need more than 3 points on offense to win next week. A win is a win, but I would like to see some progress from Trubisky, but that is hard with only 7 pass attempts.

Kuechly out and Benjamin will play on Sunday.
-
Check out their methodology: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/info/methods Actually, for JAX, their passing defense has been so good and a bunch of the pts have been scored on their special teams. Against the Rams, they gave up 2x Special Teams TD's. They lead the league in Sacks and Interceptions, 2nd in forced fumbles, and 2nd in passes defended. Pts/g and yardage are deceiving.
-
You are correct, Olsen out, Benjamin hurting, and Kuechly in concussion protocol: As long as we can contain Cam, make him beat us with his arm, and have a couple of sustained scoring drives, we have a great shot.
-
Carolina is 3-0 on the road and are due a correction, last two wins by a combined 6 points. Bears win a close one 24-20, with noticeable improvement from Trubisky in his 3rd start.

The one thing about these mobile QBs, is when they fake like they are going to throw, then run. Once they do that once and the defensive player gets fooled, then they are fair game after that. I just don't like the extra steps, hits to the head or diving at the knees. Those need to be taken out of the game.
-
I don't about top 5 defense, let alone top 3. I would say more like top 15, and we played like a top 10 unit last week. According to FBO we are 16th in defense efficiency: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/teamdef We are 2nd to last in opponent's field position, where they average the 30 yard line to start. This is part of the problem and made worse by the early season turnovers. If we can cut down on turnovers, we can flip the script on the field position problem.

Will Kyle Fuller be the next young talent Ryan Pace can't hold on to?
adam replied to Bears4Ever_34's topic in Bearstalk
I don't see Fuller in the same light as Jeffery. Fuller has disappointed most of his rookie contract and has only really came on this year (after his 5th year option was not picked up). Now even if we picked up his 5th year option, if he performed like this all year, I am sure we would extend him at the end of the year anyway. Right now he is playing like a #1 CB, which based on the current deals for guys around his age, will get him a contract between $9-10 million a year. His current cap hit is around $3mil, so that would be a considerable raise. If he continues to play at this level, you have to extend him, and I wouldn't mind even doing it in this season (before he can become a FA). -
I know this would be conspiracy theory talk, but do you think Whitehair would purposely play like that so they move him to Guard or Tackle? How does someone play so good one year and then seems like a player that has never snapped the ball before the next year? Seems odd. Just a thought.

That's all I am asking, not a full wholesale change in philosophy. Just mix in a few more passes, with a few deep balls, and it will soften things up a lot. Then once they start stacking the box again you take advantage over the top. We have yet to do that.
